W-Free 4th !
'Cuz yeah! First 4th in 8 Fourths that's not W dominated punctuated and leavin me 'xasperated.
I dunno what's gonna happen, but I will have my wiffle balls and bat ready in the trunk of my car, and I'm prepared to jump into any pool that dares show me it's face, no matter how cold.
I'm gonna stand atop the hood of my compact car and recite the Declaration whilst swilling a historically significant alcoholic beverage.
And woe is the pitcher that throws the wiffle low and inside. Through my long double will you know the depth of your erroneous pitching.
(the following is unintelligible ...)

The Man Don't Give A Fuck
Super Furry Animals - The Man Don't Give A Fuck
KEEP THE MASSES FROM MAJORITY
"you know they don't give a fuck about anybody else"
the clips of Lenin, Trotsky etc are I believe not authentic newsreels, but are taken from films such as Eisenstein's "Strike!" (great film BTW, if you can find a copy...)
I saw 'em play this once live, and the video clips were lined up perfectly with the beats, and they came out with the Furry costumes at the end, as they do in this vid. Amazing band.

the Coo Woo is strong, but fun! beware! LoL, my brother orders them whenever he can, but most bars don't stock ginger brandy...
the Stonewall is relatively smooth.... but really it's all about taking one for the Founding Fathers... None of these tastes as good as a pomegranate margarita, y'know?!

Eisenstein - Strike!
Sergei Eisenstein's "Strike!" great, great, film...
Here's Part 1 in great quality, the rest is linked to. Watch it full-screen if you can.
I think the soundtrack to this print is by Boston's own Alloy Orchestra, who do amazing work. Seriously, check this film out before it's taken down from YouTube... Honestly, for the music if nothing else...
I dunno what else I can say but WATCH THIS FILM. I swear to god, if you're not impressed after, I will personally do for you whatever you would have accomplished with that hour of your life. OK, maybe not, but I promise you it's a great film! ;)

Alloy Orchestra
"the best in the world at accompanying silent films" - Roger Ebert

If you ever have the opportunity to see them perform live during a film screening, they're goddamned incredible.
To the point where it's worth scheduling a vacation around.
If you really want your head blown off:
July 17
NY, NY
Lincoln Center - Walter Reade Theater
Film Society of Lincoln Center
MAN WITH A MOVIE CAMERA
Seriously, if you can see them ... DO IT
Dziga Vertov's "Man With A Movie Camera" with a live soundtrack by the Alloy Orchestra ... you might actually experience religious ecstasy.

Here's some Tri-Corner hats for ya
Funny thing about Adam Ant, if you really crank it, it's great. At anything less than maximum volume, it's horrible!
But give it a shot, they're dressed patriotically at least, the poor blokes...
And his drum/rhythm tracks are really something else ...
Dog Eat Dog
Kings of the Wild Frontier
Another great Adam Ant song. I'll leave it with a cover:

Thomas Paine
Great American "founder" or GREATEST AMERICAN EVER?
Common Sense:

the American Crisis:

the Rights of Man:
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/3742
the Age of Reason:
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/3743
And he was rewarded with the respect that so many Great Men are afforded ... from wikipedia:
"At the time of his death, most American newspapers reprinted the obituary notice from the New York Citizen, which read in part: "He had lived long, did some good and much harm." Only six mourners came to his funeral, two of whom were black ..."
"Some good" and "Much harm." That's what the brain behind the populism of the American Revolution got stuck with. See, Paine's problem was that he didn't stop thinking AFTER the Revolution.
The guy who wrote The Rights Of Man, with six fuckin people at his funeral... And have we changed? I'm sure whoever writes the equivalent of the next Rights Of Man will suffer a similar fate. In fact, that's how you'll know it'll have been written.

I wanted to post a great Sparks tune "Barbecutie" for those of you grilling things this weekend, but I'm afraid no video is available...
In lieu I'll drop a couple other amazing tunes of theirs...
The Amateur Hour goes on and on here on my holiday weekend post, and here is probably me favorite Sparks song:
