about Postmodernism, whatever that is.

Postmodernism is an impossible to define concept. It literally means "After the modern". Presumably the modern age/ There are ideas from people that fall under the broad umbrella of Postmodernism. Mostly in the social theory realm, and literary criticism. The main idea seems to be that we can never attain objective truth. Truth is arrived at through a battle between discourses. The "truth" discourse that wins does so through the wielding of political power, not the superiority of the discourse. Foucault, DeMan and Derrida are major theorists in this realm. They did not call it Postmodernism.

Artists usually work and create without being concerned with explanations and theories. Explanation follows creation. Postmodernism in the arts is typified by experimentation. I think of Burroughs and his cut-ups. Ralph Ellison and the shifting characters. Pynchon, and poets.

saturday morning markets with the menonites have this delicacy around here east coast. I think I understand, but then again, I think I should accept Group B {I think I understand} but can't. It is like that horrid (S. American) "artist NOT", that LET this stray dog be chained and starved to death, just for his & his whore & his ?patrons? to WATCH the SLOW MURDER. Similar "artist's NOT", that have also bound & and allowed forms of torture & murder "for art's sake" as penalty, bind them, & let other Artists observe their PAIN. Now that is Art:)

I know I will be watching all videos again 3d or 4th time during breaks of work and getting house ready for young visitors. {eek}
