Sir Real - This Golden Moment
"Life has no other discipline to impose,
if we would but realize it,
than to accept life unquestioningly.
Everything we shut our eyes to,
everything we run away from,
everything we deny, denigrate or despise,
serves to defeat us in the end.
What seems nasty, painful, evil,
can become
a source of beauty, joy and strength,
if faced with an open mind.
Every moment is a golden one
for him who has the vision
to recognize it as such."

Jed's New Westerns
There has been an Arizona rock band merger.
There's a new Jed.
Two members of the Phoenix band, The New Westerns, have joined the ranks of the rock group, Jed's a Millionaire. This new line-up has been performing live for almost a month now, doing numerous shows. There has been a lot of excitement amongst the group, as well as from the fans of both bands.
A chemistry experiment appears to be going right.
The new band is still playing under the Jed's a Millionaire monicker, with 4 CDs worth of original material to draw from.
If you get a chance, grab a copy of their album, Kachina Theater, or at least check out a few of the songs at iTunes. Personally, I think that the song, "Gotta Believe," should be on everyone's iPod. And, Jed's most recent release, Haunt, is chock-packed full of great songs; the material is both musically and lyrically impressive.
(It is still not totally clear to me as to why only three of their CDs have officially been released, especially since numerous songs from this 'missing' CD are performed at each of their shows.)
Nonetheless, according to band members, it is an exciting time. And, newly arrived Jed member, Danny Western, says that a name change for the band is most likely on the near horizon; however, through the grapevine I have heard that the band, unequivocally, has chosen to not call itself One Band Clapping, nor will it call itself Pancake Party. (So much for unsolicited name suggestions submitted by a newly sober, immature amateur, music blog writer.)
One thing that already seems different, besides the fuller, more powerful sound of the live shows is Jed's a Millionaire's Myspace page. It has recently been updated, and besides listing the new roster of the band, there is also a new YouTube video posted.
The new band definitely has a pedigree.
Band members' evolution into the new Jed's a Millionaire line-up involved stepping stone pathways through Woolytooth, Rook, Phunk Junkeez, The New Westerns, Elvis Bungee, Calumet, radiofreedoghouse, etc...
The New Westerns and Calumet are still operational bands, but the collective emphasis seems to be on The New Jed.
One can almost sense a sleeping giant waking up.
Stay tuned, and in the meantime, wear a helmet.
Until new shows are posted, you can rest assured that you can get your regular live music fix of Jed's a Millionaire every month at Alamo Saloon. The official show dates for the next few months have already been posted.

Advantage
The desperation and the total inability to do it at all has brought you to a point which you might call, don't care. You stop trying, you stop not trying you just have arrived at the insight that your decision, your will doesn't have any part in the thing at all. And that's what you needed to know.
Use what capacity's you now already have for living the great life to do it, don't wait, and this will create a fantastic diversion from history.
"Psychedelic experience is only a glimpse of genuine mystical insight, but a glimpse which can be matured and deepened by the various ways of meditation in which drugs are no longer necessary or useful. If you get the message, hang up the phone. For psychedelic drugs are simply instruments, like microscopes, telescopes, and telephones. The biologist does not sit with eye permanently glued to the microscope, he goes away and works on what he has seen..."
Enlightenment or accord with the Tao, remains unrealized so long as it is considered as a specific state to be attained, and for which there are tests and standards of success. It is much rather freedom to be the failure that one is.
Unlikely as it may seem, this outrageous and nonmoral freedom is the basis of all mental and spiritual wholeness, provided, I was about to say that it seeks no result. But so full an acceptance includes also this seeking, along with just anything that one happens to be doing or feeling. The apparently extreme passivity of this acceptance is however, creative because it permits one to be all of a piece, to be good, bad, indifferent, or merely confused, with a whole heart. To act or grow creatively we must begin from where we are, but we cannot begin at all if we are not "all here" without reservation or regret. Lacking self acceptance, we are always at odds with our point of departure, always doubting the ground on which we stand, always divided against ourselves that we cannot act with sincerity.

Thank you, Alice...
What you posted was very helpful & is the exact vibe I've been feeling lately.
In the past, I've oftentimes taken the long way to get to ... myself. For the most part, until recently, I was not aware of how much I was unnecessarily complicating the simplest of things in my life. Hopefully, I'm in the process of changing this.
Thanks for knowing that the vibe I'm on would resonate with the Alan Watts comments, Alice.
I hope you are doing well, and having a nice night.
I adore that song...
I went to a place a few years back called the Grand Emporium - it had a stain glass window that I'll never forget, that was angel wings with the initials SRV and someone told me who it was - bought a CD - awesome artist.
Hi, Annette,...
I hope you're having a nice night.
Although, I'm not much of a blues fan, I still believe that Stevie Ray deserved more credit for his music then he got while he was still alive. Back in the 80s, you couldn't go to the Fair without hearing him & Double Trouble play. I think some of us (such as me) took him for granted back in the day. But, I don't personally really get the appeal of 'blues' music, nor jazz. I kinda prefer 'blues' derivatives like The Rolling Stones and AC/DC.

World as Stage
"All that we behold is a visual construction

which has been dramatized,
rehearsed and performed elsewhere.
What we are witnessing on the stage of the world
is an optical construction devised to express
the themes which have been dramatized,
rehearsed and performed

How to stop wasting time
"Ok, so I have a bit of a problem with wasting time, on the internet specifically. It seems like every time I turn my computer on I end up wasting hours and hours just browsing the internet. I tell myself to get off, but then I think of something else I want to look up, something else I need to read up on, etc etc. No matter what reason I turn my computer on, be it homework or just to play games, I always end up wasting time on the internet. I know I should be doing something more productive and interesting, but I just can't seem to get off. It's turned into a really bad habit that I can't break.
Too much valuable time is going down the shitter because of this.
How can I stop?
