the logo www.majorityreportradio.com/weblog/MRR%20LOGO.jpg is missing.

of course it goes without saying that this is really great of you to be doing this. sorry for letting my inner engineer talk first.
Thanks.
I was uploading till I fell asleep and only got to tinker with it for half an hour this morning.
I will try to address all of the errors identified here over the weekend. It's supposed to rain for the next couple of days anyway.
Gosh I hope I don't start drinking that Tequila tonight and go inserting faux comments from Chubby to Alice professing his undying love or anything. Whew, that would just look bad bad bad.
Fernando
Great job!!!
I've been checking different dates and they seem to be working fine.
Seder is right. You did an awesome job!
Thanks t

I missed that first month back in '04
and wasn't hip to the blog until late that year.
The local Chicago station was a medium power
inner city station 950am that could not
be heard 35 miles N.W. of the city where I lived.
It took a few weeks to find a low bandwidth stream
and a player to match the format.
I have a few audio recordings of sam and janeane on the
phone with another AAR show host from the 3rd and last
week of april and was unsure of the exact date.
Now that Fernando has re assembled the blog of that
first month I was just able to determine the dates
of these recordings i downloaded in '05 from the archives
of that other AAR show.
This is awesome,
Fernando and Jim. Thanks for letting some up us old-timers relive those early days..
;-)
I'll say it again
You're a wonder Fernando!
Site *and* sound and I can relive those glory days once again!

FURTHER NOTICE TO "JOHN LEWIS": Airline passengers who believe they've been wrongly detained or confused with someone on the watch lists can call that office at 877-266-2837. The task of clearing up the problems belongs to the agency's ombudsman, Kimberly Walton, and her 26 staff members. Last month, the office received 579 inquiries related to the no-fly lists.

Republican National Convention Protest Viewpoint
Diana Schmidt On The Ground In NYC
Reports From The Heart of The City
August 21, 2004
By Diana Schmidt
Face our fears with bravery, don’t hide from them.
I refuse to live my life in constant fear from all of the unknowns in our world.
Right now, I fear the Bush Administration more than any unknown.
Most Americans face fear and terror every day of their entire lives – fear of destitution – fear of getting sick without health insurance – fear of getting kicked out of their apartments for not being able to pay rent on time – fear of getting beaten up in their neighborhoods.
The last time there were massive protests that turned sour was during the Vietnam “war”. I was in college; it was after Kent State (4 students were killed by the police during protests in Ohio). There were student protests in the Park Blocks of Portland State University in Oregon. I remember watching from the glassed in overpass between buildings. I wanted to go down and protest the draft that took many of my friends away, never to return. I wanted mine to join the voices that were protesting an unjust and unnecessary “military action”. But I didn’t go. I didn’t speak out. I was afraid. I’ve always regretted not being brave then.
Too many pundits, both left and right, have been stirring up our fears about protesting against the Bush agenda in New York City during the Republican National Convention:
The right (including John Ashcroft’s “Justice” Dept.) tells us to watch out for terrorists among the protestors – there is “credible” information that they’re planning to attack during the Convention. Credible, but perhaps more 3-year old information?
The mainstream media reports that Al Qaeda is planning an attack to affect the election – ( like bin Laden and all the new recruits can tell the difference between Bush and Kerry!). They refer to Madrid without mentioning that 90% of the Spanish people had always

The presidential campaigns of George W. Bush and John Kerry are at each other's throats like dogs in a fighting pit over a war that ended 29 years ago. The mainstream news media, along with the alternative news media, have enjoyed watching the show, dutifully reporting every detail and nuance of the fiery exchanges between the camps. "(Kerry's) only hope...is to start running for president as though he doesn't especially want the job. As though he were 27 years old and testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; not seeking to deflect and dance away, but drilling straight through, as though he were finally willing to say -- again -- yes, America, Vietnam was horrible. Do you want to know how horrible? I will remind you. Whose fault was it? The people who put us there. Who put us there? People just like the people who put us in Iraq. His only hope is to run as though he is simply interested in looking people in the eye and telling the truth as he sees it. The question is will Kerry allow himself to be that person, and, if so, will he do so in time." Andrew Christie http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0823-09.htm

FBI Fumbled on Terror Financing, 9/11 Panel Says
Sun Aug 22, 2004 12:21 AM ET By Kevin Drawbaugh
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The FBI knew about specific suspected al Qaeda fundraisers before the Sept. 11 attacks but failed to tackle the problem, the Sept. 11 Commission said in a staff report released on Saturday. In a broad critique of the government's surveillance of terrorist financing, the report said "gaps appear to remain in the intelligence community's understanding of the issue." The report said the government should resist creating "a terrorist financing czar" or some other specialized entity to focus on the problem. Instead, it backed an existing interagency committee led by the National Security Council. "The total elimination of money flowing to al Qaeda ... is virtually impossible," the report said. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=6036422

i've gotta question, how do ratings work? wouldn't it just be better if we never watched any of the major news affiliates, therefore making the ratings drop and that would hopefully force them to do real reporting or is that not how it works?
I don't understand how being in Alabama on a political campaign is considered serving in the National Guard. It's not is it? I mean, they're two different things - right? Or is the message that the military runs the electoral process? Oh right, Florida 2000. Um? It's not just me right? Caesar's naked.

Bush Optimistic on Progress in Iraq DEB RIECHMANN Associated Press
CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush, who faces a tough re-election ballot in just 10 weeks, portrayed the ongoing occupation of Iraq in optimistic terms Monday even as the U.S. death toll nears 1,000. "We're making progress on the ground," Bush said about Iraq, where Marines are engaged in fierce battles with followers of a radical cleric holed up in the holy city of Najaf. Bush spoke at his Texas ranch after spending more than three hours mapping defense strategy with his top national security advisers. "We talked about Iraq - the way forward in Iraq, the way to help the Iraqis get to elections" by January, Bush said. http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/news/local/9473311.htm

"I have no special regard for Satan, but I can at least claim that I have no predjudice against him. It may even be that I have been a little in his favor, on account of his not having a fair show. All religions issue Bibles against him, but we never hear his side. We have none but the evidence for the presecution, and yet we have rendered the verdict. To my mind this is irregular. It is un-English, it is un-American.
Of course, Satan has some kind of a case, it goes without saying. It may be a poor one, but that is nothing; that can be said about any of us. As soon as I can get at the facts I will undertake his rehabilitation myself, if I can find an impolite publisher. It is a thing we ought to do for anybody who is under a cloud.
We may not pay him reverence, for that would be indiscreet, but we can at least respect his talents. A person who has for untold centuries maintained the imposing position of spiritual head of four-fifths of the human race, and political head of the whole of it, must be granted the posession of executive abilities of the loftiest order. In his large presence the other popes and politicians shrink to midgets for the microscope. I would like to see him. I remember the "Weathermen" RADICALS PLOT BAD WEATHER
August 23, 2004 -- EXCLUSIVE A number of extremists with ties to the 1970s radical Weather Underground have recently been released from prison and are in New York preparing to wreak havoc during the Republican National Convention, The Post has learned. A top-level source with extensive knowledge of police plans wouldn't disclose the names of the aging rabble-rousers but said a handful of them are already here and will play a behind-the-scenes role in attempting to disrupt the GOP gala. "These people are trained in kidnapping techniques, bombmaking and building improvised munitions," the source said. "They've very bad people." "They're not likely to take direct action," the source continued, "but they'll be orchestrating operations." Originally called "The Weathermen," the anarchist organization came into existence in June 1969 as a radical splinter group of the Students for a Democratic Society. During a two-year stretch, the group bombed a number of high-profile government buildings, primarily to protest the Vietnam War and racism in America. http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/29286.htm
Just a reminder, the last post was from the New York Post. But I do remember the "Weathermen".

I love this version of "Wish you Were Here". It's kinda like Muzak, but it's so high tempo that I almost can't keep up.
interesting subject imo.... In later Christian tradition Satan was described as the tempter, the accuser, the punisher, the leader of the fallen angels; and Christianity has always regarded Hell, the region of fiery torment below the earth, as Satan's realm. In the advent of God's kingdom, he and his demons will be ultimately defeated. Many other cultures outside the Hebrew tradition have a concept of a leader of the powers of darkness. The Babylonians, Chaldeans, and Persians believed in a dualism between the forces of darkness and light. Ahriman, in Zoroastrianism, and Seth, the god of evil in Egyptian mythology, and 'Mara' in Buddhism manifest characteristics similar to Satan's. Names for Satan include not only the usual demonic ones, but several popular ones, such as 'Prince of Darkness', 'Old Dragon', 'Old Horney', 'Old Nick', 'Old Scratch', 'Lusty Dick', 'Black Bogey', 'Old Gentleman', 'Angel of Rome', and 'Old Lad Himself', amongst others. http://www.occultopedia.com/s/satan.htm

Posted by: Alice at August 23, 2004 11:13 PM The early Christian Empire (The Holy Roman one) wanted to suppress the elder religions of Greece and Rome. One of the most popular gods to worship was Pan, the little goat-footed all-father of yore. Pan, pangenitor; Pan, panphage. The association of Satan with Pan started out with the association of the image of Pan with Satan. The horns, the goat's lower body of Pan was associated by the Christian church with the ultimate evil their religion presented in order to suppress the Pan cults that were still so very popular among the people(Pan cults emphasized drunkeness and sex so they were *very* popular).

>>> the other half of the story might be that the universe grows consciousness to transcend time Ok, now we're talking philosophy mixed with physics - I LOVE THAT. I so love that. I like to envision a singularity being God/Universe, and everything else being 'things'. Meditation and trauma can heighten the feeling of 'being at one with the universe', but each of us is relegated to being a 'sub-unit' of the overall Unit. That we can perceive a single entitity might exist shows that we are connected to that bery thing we feel we are apart from/of. Words will always make me look foolish when i discuss philosophy.

The Buddha described the experience as "a net of jewels where, at each node of the net a jewel is set that reflects all of the other jewels". Aleister Crowley outlined a ritual magick that would bring the same consciousness in "Magick in Theory and Practice". He called it the "Middle Pillar Ritual". Point...it was around here someplace...oh yeah...these experiences are almost impossible to describe. People who can express them best become artists and poets. The end of the video for "Parabol" by Tool is not a bad illustration of it.

The activities of those millions who expressed public opposition to Washington's involvement in the U.S.-Indochinese War are well worth remembering, for they succeeded through their efforts in affecting both the conduct of U.S. war policies and the national self-image itself. There is no need to doubt the abiding belief held by peace-seekers in the 1960s that victory on Washington's terms in Viet Nam would be worse for the U.S. and world peace than any foreseeable alternative. "Victory in a war such as the United States is waging in Vietnam would demean our country more than defeat," The Nation asserted in 1965. Makes you wonder if the Jewish and Islamic revulsion at pork (animals with cloven hooves) has anything to do with it. Note that Hindus won't eat cows. Posted by: UncleSam at August 23, 2004 11:33 PM Pork is considered taboo in Judaic and Islamic societies due to strictures of cleanliness imposed upon them by religion but, the root is really refrigeration. Before refrigeration, trichinosis and other diseases that were carried by swine ran roughshod over the tribal societies. Some smart, religious leaders noticed that people who ate pork or who herded swine tended to get sick(and die) more often than others; thus, to keep people from getting sick, they made eating pork illegal. The cow thing with the Hindus I'm not very clear on. I know it has something to do with a legend involving one of their major gods (Brahmin, I believe).

Don't tell me it's not the same ole, same ole!!! What about those millions who protested? Is it not time to examine objectively and comprehensively the impact of antiwar actions during the Viet Nam conflict? One point must be made clear from the start, however. The opponents of the war found it always difficult, and often impossible, to agree on the best way of opposing it. One reason for this dissension within dissension was that the war was actually a secondary issue to many of the organizations most active in trying to end it. The dozen or so minor socialist and revolutionary groups in the United States made no secret of their primary interest in bringing down capitalism. The civil rights organizations were more concerned with injustice at home than war abroad. "I am not looked upon as an equal citizen in everyday life," said a black activist named John Otis Dumrall in December, 1966. "Why am I looked upon as an equal citizen when it comes time for me to report for induction?... I would feel just like the KKK over there. Sound familiar ? Vietnam War Protests
Many 1960s antiwar activists came to believe that the Viet Nam war was not a mistake but a deliberate attempt by a loosely-knit but powerful coalition that controlled the U.S. to retain a small but highly-regarded part of its empire, fueled by Cold War ideology. It followed, then, that the real cause of the Kent State shootings had been the desire of the Nixon administration to suppress domestic objections to its Viet Nam policy so that it could have more of a chance of successfully retaining Viet Nam for the capitalist world. Many in the antiwar and May 4th movements drew such conclusions; others did not. The antiwar movement of the 1960s was a broad and diverse coalition and many in it could agree that the war in Viet Nam was illegal and immoral without seeing it as a struggle to save Viet Nam for the capitalist world.

Posted by: UncleSam at August 23, 2004 11:44 PM I think that most people believe in some kind of God, whether they want to admit it to themselves or not. Scientists believe in math, stockbrokers believe in money...it's the quality of your personal God that counts. Are you a better person because of your beliefs? If you are, then I could care less what you choose to label your God. My folks are true Christians. They are kind, charitable, loving, unjudgemental people, unfortunately, most Christians do not live up to the name. Many Christians are not "Christ-like". They use Christianity as a dodge and they preach the Bible of fear and hatred. Me personally, I wrestle with the concept of God. I look at the universe in all of its glory and pain and I find that it must be conscious...it must have continuity. We are all the stuff of stars and we are all connected. Of course, that might just be the acid...;)

The Maya long count of the trial of humanity begins at BC 3113 and endson winter solstice, AD 2012. As a count of days, the time of trial is aperiod of 1,872,000 kin or days. The number of kin is subdivided into thirteensets of 144,000 kin each, called baktuns. 144,000 is the number set asideby Allah to be free of Iblis' curse. Each baktun of slightly less than fourhundred years, or 20 generations, represents a cycle of opportunity forthe 144,000 to remember the original plan and to advance the cause of theUniversal Religion on Earth. History is the name given to the trial period measured by the Mayan baktuncount and represents the battleground between Iblis and the human soul.Iblis/Satan is actually the demon of human ego. Human ego arises in thezone between free will and the choice of remembering. To listen to Satan,who is ever active in the trial period, is to give in to ego, and followthe lower course of listening to one's own base desires. When history begins,knowledge of the universal ethic and religion is already forgotten amongmany of the Children of Adam. Only messengers can remember, and throughthe remembrance of the messengers can be read the history of Universal Religionon Earth.

Most jews feel no revulsion over pork - that particular dietary law is now considered a matter of tradition in industrialist societies. Being buried in a pig skin won't send them to hell.
In Islam, pigs are considered spiritually unclean as well, so a person wrapped in a pig skin is trapped in hell. In India, the sacred staus of cows is due to the use of cow dung for fuel. Their weather makes clearcutting inadvisable, so burning wood for fuel would be a very bad idea.
The most dramatic opposition to the war came from the soldiers themselves. Between 1960 and 1973, 503,926 members of the US armed forces deserted. Many soldiers began to question the morality of the war once they began fighting in Vietnam. One soldier, Keith Franklin, wrote a letter that was only to be opened on his death. He was killed on May 12, 1970: "If you are reading this letter, you will never see me again, the reason being that if you are reading this I have died. The question is whether or not my death has been in vain. The answer is yes. The war that has taken my life and many thousands before me is immoral, unlawful and an atrocity... I had no choice as to my fate. It was predetermined by the war-mongering hypocrites in Washington. As I lie dead, please grant my last request. Help me inform the American people, the silent majority who have not yet voiced their opinions." http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/VNprotest.htm

WOW Toni D. I never read that. The foresight and the sadness is so bittersweet. I was in my formative years when that war was in full swing. Whenever I asked about it no one would talk. Right now I feel like I do whenever I hear MLK's last "I have a dream" speech. So sad, sad sad. The poignancy of what is being said and the urgency to change it transcend the sadness. Bittersweet doesn't describe the intensity. Dang it.

PEASE TELL ME I’M WRONG I think we're coming up against another brick wall in this election. It just seems like the republicans have all the cards in their deck. They have the governor of Florida, the Supreme Court, both houses of congress and even the guy who's making the electronic voting machines. There's just too may areas where they can play dirty pool and get away with it. Seriously where is the outrage? I mean outside of the 45% of us you don’t even hear these things being brought up. If this is another close one as it appears it will be then we’re in trouble.
I know people who are fairly intelligent who just don’t see a thing wrong with Bush. They say “everyone knows the former president is responsible for the next president’s economy.” Or they argue abortion is murder yet say nothing about the slaughter in Iraq. It’s like we’re stuck in this bizzaro universe where up is down and down is up. Nothing you say even seems to register with people. All these people see Bush as this great man of god who just so loves our military. Yet here he is doing everything I was told Christ taught not to do. He’s starting wars, screwing the poor and then smearing decorated war veterans. Not to mention cutting benefits and not providing armor for our current troops. I think Janeane maybe on to something when she said there certain portion of the population who are into golden showers. I mean that’s basically what they are doing to us, pissing on us.

Good Night Toni D! ~Thank You~
On Angels All was taken away from you: white dresses,
wings, even existence.
Yet I believe you,
messengers.
There, where the world is turned inside out,
a heavy fabric embroidered with stars and beasts,
you stroll, inspecting the trustworthy seems.
Shorts is your stay here:
now and then at a matinal hour, if the sky is clear,
in a melody repeated by a bird,
or in the smell of apples at close of day
when the light makes the orchards magic.
They say somebody has invented you
but to me this does not sound convincing
for the humans invented themselves as well.
The voice -- no doubt it is a valid proof,
as it can belong only to radiant creatures,
weightless and winged (after all, why not?),
girdled with the lightening.
I have heard that voice many a time when asleep
and, what is strange, I understood more or less
an order or an appeal in an unearthly tongue:
day draw near
another one
do what you can.

The poem from Milosz sounds very much like Rilke. Are you familiar? Milosz=Hungarian?

Opening Prayer For The RNC: Heavenly Chief Executive Officer, give us POWER. We need POWER to spread your word in its purest form; we need POWER to bend over little Iraqi boys and bugger them the way Jesus intended; we need POWER to keep the godless brown people from destroying our Holy American Lifeways. You will give us power, heavenly father, because we DESERVE it, because we're the right color, the right religion, and faithful lords of this earthly domain you have given us. It's what you made us for, so you HAVE to give us power. Go along to get along, God... Karl Rove has a file on you too, pal. AMEN.
"Or they argue abortion is murder"
- on convincing Bushies to vote Kerry I heard it this way: 1. Regardless of who is president, people will still have sex and some of them will have abortions. 2. If Bush is anti abortion - why is it that in 3.5 years with the most powerful soapbox in the world AND a Pro-Life Congress - he can't get people to stop having abortions? 3. See #1. Ask them if spending money on sex education is more moral than spending money to kill people.

A Poem For the End of the Century
When everything was fine
And the notion of sin had vanished
And the earth was ready
In universal peace
To consume and rejoice
Without creeds and utopias, I, for unknown reasons,
Surrounded by the books
Of prophets and theologians,
Of philosophers, poets,
Searched for an answer,
Scowling, grimacing,
Waking up at night, muttering at dawn. What oppressed me so much
Was a bit shameful.
Talking of it aloud
Would show neither tact nor prudence.
It might even seem an outrage
Against the health of mankind. Alas, my memory
Does not want to leave me
And in it, live beings
Each with its own pain,
Each with its own dying,
Its own trepidation. Why then innocence
On paradisal beaches,
An impeccable sky
Over the church of hygiene?
Is it because that
Was long ago? To a saintly man
--So goes an Arab tale--
God said somewhat maliciously:
"Had I revealed to people
How great a sinner you are,
They could not praise you." "And I," answered the pious one,
"Had I unveiled to them
How merciful you are,
They would not care for you." To whom should I turn
With that affair so dark
Of pain and also guilt
In the structure of the world,
If either here below
Or over there on high
No power can abolish
The cause and the effect? Don't think, don't remember
The death on the cross,
Though everyday He dies,
The only one, all-loving,
Who without any need
Consented and allowed
To exist all that is,
Including nails of torture. Totally enigmatic.
Impossibly intricate.
Better to stop speech here.
This language is not for people.
Blessed be jubilation.
Vintages and harvests.
Even if not everyone
Is granted serenity. Czeslaw Milosz
Who translated the Milosz poem? I have a translation of poems by my favorite poet, Rilke, but it's not satisfactory...

Alice, are you posting from a website, or do you have a book of his poetry? Sorry to be so insistant, but it's hitting a nerve.
Hiya, C-Sea!!! Rilke ROCKS!!! p :)
i just grabbed it from the net- he wrote in english as well, & if I amthat one may have beenoriginally english, the cut and paste job

You see, I want a lot. Perhaps I want everything: the darkness that comes with every infinite fall and the shivering blaze of every step up. So many live on and want nothing, and are raised to the rank of prince by the slippery ease of their light judgements. But what you love to see are faces that do work and feel thirst. You love most of all those who need you as they need a crowbar or a hoe. You have not grown old, and it is not too late to dive into your increasing depths where life calmly gives out its own secret. -r.m.r.

Article I.
Resolution of the Commission on Time Preamble In order to return to an original wisdom and safeguard the future evolutionary unfoldment of the human species, we, the people of planet Earth, call for the establishment of a harmonious measure of time. To prevent the further desecration of the biosphere, this measure must reflect the natural pulse of the planet. Time is primarily a function of consciousness and has a much richer structure than can be modeled with the linear geometry of three-dimensional space. Our analysis demonstrates that the mechanical clock and the Gregorian Calendar are artificial and entropic time-templates the following of which has a discordant effect on the conduct of the human mind, adversely influencing the entire fabric of global civilization. This adverse influence is due to the way that the species-wide use of these humanly contrived time-defining systems throws the patterns of human life out of phase with the life-giving rhythms of the biosphere as a whole, effectively disconnecting humanity from nature. The Calendar of Peace catalyzes a global shift in consciousness by the harmonization of the human species with the natural order of its life support systems. In the course of our research we have become convinced that to elevate the quality of human experience and deepen our reverence for all life, the realm of natural time must be entered wholeheartedly. To live and grow in natural time we declare to be a universal human right.

Here's one for you, Pete~ The First Elegy Who, if I cried out, would hear me among the angels' hierarchies?
And even if one of them suddenly pressed me against his heart, I would perish in the embrace of his stronger existance.
For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror which we are barely able to endure
and are awed because it serenly disdains to anniihilate us.
Each singel angel is terrifying.
And so I force myself, swallow and hold back the surging call of my dark sobbing.
Oh, to whom can we turn to for help?
Not angels, not humans: and even the knowing animals are aware that we feel little secure and at home in our interpreted worl.

I think it’s a mistake to ever look for hope outside of one’s self. One day the house smells of fresh bread, the next of smoke and blood. One day you faint because the gardener cut his finger off, within a week you’re climbing over the corpses of children bombed in a subway. What hope can there be if that is so? I tried to die near the end of the war. The same dream returned each night until I dared not to sleep and grew quite ill. I dreamed I had a child, and even in the dream I saw it was my life, and it was an idiot, and I ran away. But it crept onto my lap again, clutched at my clothes. Until I thought, if I could kiss it, whatever in it was my own, perhaps I could sleep. And I bent to its broken face, and it was horrible . . . but I kissed it. I think one must finally take one’s life in one’s arms. -- Arthur Miller, After the Fall

>>I dreamed I had a child, and even in the dream I saw it was my life, and it was an idiot, and I ran away.<< reminds me of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Creating something we just can't love. As oppose to Ann Rice whose Vampires create things incapable of loving them back as much as they are loved by their creator. Either way, it's the human condition, although as a mother I can relate more to Ann Rice.

Drop by drop rain slaps the banana leaves.
Praise whoever sketched this desolate scene: the lush, dark canopies of the gnarled trees,
the long river, sliding smooth and white. I lift my wine flask, drunk with rivers and hills.
My backpack, breathing moonlight, sags with poems. Look, and love everyone.
Whoever sees this landscape is stunned. *******************************************8

And . . . come to think of it . . . how come I haven't heard anybody singing this lately? ================================================= I’ve heard it all before!
-- from Shenandoah
-- music by Gary Geld
-- lyrics by Peter Udell
-------------------------------
Stand and show your colors,
Let’s all go to war,
The Lord will surely bless us,
I’ve heard it all before! I’ve heard it all,
A hundred times,
I’ve heard it all before,
They’ve always got a holy cause,
To march you off to war. Tyranny or justice,
Anarchy or law,
We must defend our honor,
I’ve heard it all before! I’ve heard it all,
A hundred times,
I’ve heard it all before,
They’ve always got a holy cause,
That’s worth the dying for. Someone writes a slogan,
Raises up a flag,
Someone finds an enemy to blame.
The trumpet sounds the call to arms,
To leave the cities and the farms,
And always, the ending is the same,
The same,
The same,
The same. The dream has turned to ashes,
The wheat has turned to straw,
And someone asks the question,
What was the dying for? The living can’t remember,
The dead no longer care,
But next time, it won’t happen,
Upon my soul I swear! I’ve heard it all,
A hundred times,
I’ve heard it all before,
Don’t tell me it’s different now!
I’ve heard it all,
I’ve heard it all,
I’ve heard it all before!

Everything you see has its roots in the unseen world.
The forms may change, yet the essence remains the same.
Every wonderful sight will vanish, every sweet word will fade,
But do not be disheartened,
The source they come from is eternal, growing,
Branching out, giving new life and new joy.
Why do you weep?
The source is within you
And this whole world is springing up from it. sufi
Wow. You guys are scared pantsless, huh? After the 100 punds of feces slung at Bush43 by multiple 527s and millions upon millions and millions of dollars, 1 pound slung back by just 1 527 with under a quarter of a million bucks has gotten a lot of panties in a bunch. I guess the truth hurts. The whining about all this is only going to expose the liberal 527s and the agendas and FAR greater millions and connections to the DNC and Kerry behind them. Woops, ya shoulda thought before you lept. Anyhoo. Been basking in the sun. Hanging with the ghost of Rick James, we read _Unfit For Command_ even tho the Kerry censors tried to stop us with their liberal lawsuits and angry lawyer letters to TV stations and booksellers. I guess freedom of speech only applies to the "proper" kind of speech, eh Rick?? Rick was also wondering why it's so hard to find John Kerry's lovely tome, _The New Soldider_. Well, Rick. It's because years ago Kerry bought up most copies when running for other offices because they were quite embarassing. Copies go for $350-500 on eBay now. But an enterprising person has PDFed it for the masses online at $15 a hit. Tho one could probably find it for closer to $0. PS, I'm acquainted with the ghost of Rick James and I'm back, bitches. PPS, I took 10 minutes to cobble together and read the results of a script to pull down threads from the last few weeks and grep out keywords to track any potential loser nic stealers. Nothing major. Surprising. And not. I did notice before they only come out to play when I am here. But I did notice a new fan I'd never been aware of. She (??) expressed remorse at my absence. I think my last thread was when I had a hissyfit because Darlene could not get thru her head that I was not the large Canadian child the incorrect and less-than-stellar-researchers here came up with as "me" and everyone pointed and laughed at the fat kid (always a compassionate move by the way). HILARIOUS: Currently this is the top user review on Amazon.com for "Unfit for Command", the book by "Swift Boat Veterans For Truth" about Kerry in Vietnam. I don't know when Amazon might take it down, so I thought I'd cut & paste it here: "Reviewer: Bob Davis (Berkeley, CA) - See all my reviews
I appreciate the effort these men went to, to try to clarify for us all what really happened in Vietnam oh-so-many years ago, and it was such a good read, really a pleasant book, so of course I recommend it to anyone looking for a good summer read. However, they haven't convinced me of their point - that Kerry was AWOL for the Vietnam War - and so I have trouble giving a whole-hearted endorsement of this book. I guess I'm a bit conflicted - it was a good read, but as a political book it was ineffective. I want to praise the authors and to criticize them too. I feel the book would have been better if it had really delved into the minutiae of why exactly it was that Kerry was seen in Alabama for a dentist appointment, but not for his flight physical. Especially on page 132 where the authors reprint his pay stubs, I guess I'm confused why they didn't go all the way and just interview the men he served with. Thank you for the pleasant times and I hope to read your next book. -Bob Davis

Bush puts up, Kerry stays shut up and silent?? Of course he does. Like he can afford to not take that fat fat Soros $$$. --
Bush criticized the groups' first commercial and all other outside group attack ads - many of which have targeted his own re-election. "That means that ad, every other ad," he said. "I can't be more plain about it. And I wish - I hope my opponent joins me in saying - condemning these activities of the 527s. It's - I think they're bad for the system. That's why I signed the bill, McCain-Feingold." Bush's comment about 527s was a reference to independent groups that raise money in unlimited amounts. The so-called McCain-Feingold bill, a campaign finance overhaul bill which Bush signed reluctantly earlier in his term, banned the political parties from raising such funds. While Kerry and Democrats have demanded that Bush condemn the attack on his war record, the president has been targeted by an estimated $60 million in commercials by outside groups since the campaign began. Kerry has declined to call for an end to those ads, which helped him at a time when he did not have the funds to compete with Bush' campaign advertising budget. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040823/D84L7OKG0.html

// Wow. The nic stealing lameass poser thief is back. You are such an inspiration to...well, I guess other dumbasses like yourself?
I've cracked the code: it's rubbish It's the book they're all talking about on the beach this summer. . . more fool them, says a disappointed Christopher Howse All along the Mediterranean littoral, tourists awake to find their torsos marked with pale oblong patches, 178mm by 196mm. This is the mark of Da Vinci. It's what happens when you fall asleep in the sun with a copy of The Da Vinci Code carelessly open on your body.
Dan Brown's novel has sold six million copies, and its 605 pages seem just the thing to shove in the hand-luggage for a holiday read. But, goodness, it has annoyed people. Presses turn day and night printing books rebutting every error in Brown's fat farrago: The Da Vinci Hoax; Da Vinci Code Decoded; Cracking the Da Vinci Code. Somehow, they add up to more copies than the original. The reason for the anger is that the novel says rude things about Jesus and the Church. In that respect, it's a sort of Satanic Verses, only even worse written. "Everyone in the reception area gaped in wonderment at the half-naked albino offering forth a bleeding clergyman," is an example of the stylistic register. Yes, it's rude about albinos, too. The baddy is an albino. This is to make him creepy. Just as Blind Pew, tap-tapping along in Treasure Island is creepy, or Quilp in Little Dorrit is creepy because he's a hunchback, so is the assassin Silas, because he is albino. Albinos are not amused. Silas the albino is supposed to be an Opus Dei "monk" in the novel. Not that members of Opus Dei are monks. But what's the point in pointing out all the errors? It's like Boots loyalty cards: life is too short. I mean, Brown has Pope Clement V burning Templars whose ashes are "tossed unceremoniously in the Tiber River"; but Clement lived in Avignon and never went to Rome. Who cares? Never mind little facts when the big plot's so absurd. Jesus was married to Mary Magdalen, and the proof of that is that Leonardo Da Vinci shows her leaning against him in The Last Supper. You thought that was St John? Think again. You see, the Church has kept the Magdalen marriage secret because she had a baby by Jesus, and this secret was passed on by the Templar
oh yeah..the olympics...me too...
:) i'm sorry i have to go phungus
but i suppose you'll be coming around again right? ...be sure to come packed and fully loaded when you do too..the bloggerz have only become more powerful since you left.... love you!
nite again..
You see, the Church has kept the Magdalen marriage secret because she had a baby by Jesus, and this secret was passed on by the Templars and the "Priory of Sion". And that's proved by the Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland and the Temple Church in London. And Isaac Newton knew the secret, and so did Victor Hugo. And the Roman Catholic Church will do anything to make sure people don't find out the secrets of the Gnostic Gospels; so albinos will kill you if you buy a copy of The Da Vinci Code at the airport. Not so much a plot as a conspiracy. And haven't we heard it before? What about The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, written by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln in 1982? That featured the marriage of Jesus and Mary Magdalen, and the Templars, and the Priory of Sion in the French town of Annemasse, sworn to the return to power of the Merovingians (descendants of Mary Mag). Oh, and a sprig of Rosicrucianism for the pot. At one level, one doesn't know whether to weep with laughter or with frustration that people can be taken in. It is all of a piece with a sort of Daily Mail headline: "Is this code the secret to the Bible?" (or the Pyramids, or Flying Saucers, according to the week). A desire to believe it is the same appetite that goes for Madonna's red-string Kabbalah. The pedigree of The Da Vinci Code is clear. It derives from a shivery kind of Gothic novel of which the archetype is Ambrosio, or The Monk, published in 1796 by Matthew "Monk" Lewis, of whom Byron wrote: Wonder-working Lewis, Monk or Bard
Who fain wouldst make Parnassus a churchyard;
Even Satan's self with thee might dread to dwell,
And in thy skull discern a deeper hell.
That novel had a nun immured by a sadistic Mother Superior, clutching to her bosom a long-dead baby, plus hooded figures, rotting corpses and the depraved Ambrosio, Abbot of the Capuchins of Madrid (never mind that Capuchins don't have abbots, this is fiction). In Lewis's day, "monkish" was a synonym for wickedly ignorant; respectable churchgoers were convinced the Pope was Antichrist.
Translate the genre to modern times and anyone can spin a conspiracy tale based on the premise that what you see in

If you want to change a person, change his behavior -- if you want to change him a lot, change his paradigm. (Principle Centered Leadership by Steven R. Covey) This information has changed my paradigm -- it will change yours. Why do I lecture and write under the Pen Name, David Allisone? Primarily for the protection of my family -- to avoid having them feeling like they have to apologize for the beliefs that I have. Also, I find that David Allisone can think more freely and take certain positions without feeling restrained by some type of pre-existing mold that shaped my thinking in the past. MY PATH: Baptist, Catholic wife, Unitarian, Agnostic, ARE/Taoist/Unity/Rel. Science/LDS. I have always been a seeker and I continue to follow truth where ever it leads me. Translate the genre to modern times and anyone can spin a conspiracy tale based on the premise that what you see in the Catholic Church is not what you get. Let's think. Did you know that Pope John Paul on the feast of St Lucy knotted, by moonlight, the rope that was to hang Roberto Calvi beneath Blackfriars Bridge? The Blackfriars were in it up to here with the Mafia and the Banco Ambrosiano and Russian gold. It all fits. It's only a novel, for heaven's sake. Didn't Mozart put a lot of Masonic fal-de-lal in The Magic Flute? And in Dracula, Van Helsing suddenly produces the Host - "I brought it from Amsterdam. I have an Indulgence" - and scatters the sacred elements around Lucy Westenra's tomb. This is unpleasant to a Catholic sensibility, and necessitates the hard work of unravelling the misunderstanding of what an "Indulgence" is. The immunity of fiction to factual correction is undermined by two things about Brown's book. One is that readers believe some of the novelistic assertions of the narrative's truth. The other is the surprising ease of selling as the basis for a story the judgment that the Catholic Church is a monster of deception. Will it come within the terms of David Blunkett's law against incitement to religious hatred? The most obvious fantasy in the novel is making Opus Dei a kind of training school for assassins. In truth, the Pope declared the founder of Opus Dei a saint, at a crowded ceremony in St Peter's Square in 2002, the year before The Da Vinci Code came out. If the Pope is Antichrist, of course, that is the sort of thing you might expect. But, in reality, the men and women in Opus Dei are friendly and do good works. I was a member of the English branch in the 1980s and you couldn't find nicer people - seldom a cross word, let alone firearms. They wouldn't be unkind to albinos. One small detail undermines any remaining confidence in Dan Brown's scholarship. I was reminded of it by Craig Brown's exposure of Gore Vidal. "Disillusion first set in," Craig wrote, "when I heard him on the BBC speaking with apparent authority about the British secret services. It was only when he began talking about 'M-Fifteen' and 'M-Sixteen' that I realised th
Seth on Jesus Scientific theories are "proven", at least partially, based on their predictive value. If a theory has high predictive value then it is more likely to be correct. In this spirit, I am going to place a "theory" in front of this group. Though this "theory" was proposed by "an energy essence personallity" named Seth who was "channeled" by a woman named Jane Roberts, I am only offering it as a theory to be tested by its predictive value. According to Seth's theory, Jesus did not get a stand in for the crucifixion but rather tried to dissuade a "volunteer". Here are Seth's words on this subject: Here is a portion of what Seth had to say about Jesus: -Now: For your edification: Christ, the historical Christ, was not crucified. - You will have to give me time here. (Pause.) He had no intention of dying in that manner; but others felt that to fulfill the prophecies in all ways, a crucifixion was a necessity. Christ did not take part in it (Pause.) There was a conspiracy in which Judas: played a role an attempt to make a martyr out of Christ. The man chosen was drugged-hence the necessity of helping him carry the cross (see Luke:23) and he was told that he was the Christ. He believed that he was. He was one of deluded, but he also himself believed that he, not the historical Christ, was to fulfill the prophecies. Mary came because she was, full of sorrow for the man who believed he was her son. Out of compassion she was present. The group responsible wanted it to appear that one particular portion of the Jews had crucified Christ, and never dreamed that the whole Jewish people would be "blamed." (Pause at 10.00.) This is difficult to explain even for me to unravel. The tomb was empty because the same group carted the body away. Mary Magdalene did see Christ, however, immediately after (see Matthew 28). (Long, pause.) Christ was a great psychic. He caused the wounds to appear then upon His own body, and appeared both physically and in out-of-body states to His followers. He tried however, to explain what had happened and His position but those who were not in on the conspiracy would

Your Christ figure represents, symbolically, your idea of God and his relationships. There were three separate individuals whose history blended, and they became known collectively as Christ - hence many discrepancies in your records. These were all males because at that time of your development, you would not have accepted a female counterpart. These individuals were part of one entity. You could not but imagine God as a father. It would never have occurred to you to imagine a god in any other than human terms. Earth components. These three figures worked out a drama, highly symbolic, propelled by concentrated energy of great force. (Long pause at 9:52.) The EVENTS as they are recorded, however, did not occur in history. The crucifixion of Christ was a psychic, but not a physical event. Ideas of almost unimaginable magnitude were played out. (Pause at 9:55.) Judas, for example, was not a man in your terms. He was - like all the other Disciples - a blessed, created "fragment personality," formed by the Christ personality. He REPRESENTED the self-betrayer. He dramatized a portion of each individual's personality that focuses upon physical reality in a grasping manner, and denies the inner self out of greed.
http://www.post1.com/home/kktanhp/reincarnation_htm.htm Now, I'm a little fuzzy on the following material, but the general concepts should be adequate. Among a number of frightening tenets of hard core new agers is the notion of the universal "Christ Consciousness" which supposedly incarnates on the earth periodically to enlighten mankind with a new flavor from the Seven Rays of universal wisdom. The vehicles for this message are the avatars, like Buddha, Jesus and Krishna, each one bringing the earth family up to speed to the current level of universal revelation and psychic mastery. The previous stage of consciousness was the fish or Pisces, characterized by certain necessary qualities. The next stage we are about to embark on will be Aquarius, the Water-Bearer, bringing it's own consciousness-perfecting qualities as well. According to Benjamin Creme, the Masters live in a dimension that hovers over the Gopi Desert, and are led by Sanat Kumara, which Theosophist Dane Rudyar referred to as "King Satan." (Blavatsky explained that Satan is just as necessary as Lucifer in a dualistic universe and thus we needn't be ashamed of the image.) The world has been continually infiltrated by Theosophists, with what they believe to be consciousness-altering "light" in order to prepare us for the unity necessary to receive Sanat Kumara as our world leader and true spiritual identity. The next expected avatar who will bridge the gap between western rationalism and eastern mysticism will supposedly be Maitreya, who is one of the higher Kumaras, who will usher in the wide reception of Sanat Kumara. (Did somebody say, Delusion?) So, in summary to this section, we see the motive of New Age Disciples to leaven (change) the world in preparation for the coming of their Christ, Maitreya, in preparation for the final stage of the earth's evolution, to become one divine being. Our beliefs, social structure, politics, religion and self-concept and mastery of magic are all very important steps to the fulfillment of the "Aquarian Conspiracy" (Marilyn Ferguson's words, not mine) Now here is a smattering of disciplines and beliefs that
But the bait can be transformed into secularized gimmicks that pull anti-religious people and organizations into their game plan, as well. Often the bigger pictures are identical but focus out into the different sub-plots, whether religious, atheistic, sensual, philosophical, training, team-building or whatever. Habitat for Humanity, for example, comes in the guise of Evangelical Christianity, helping poor people. How nice! How can anyone badmouth charity? But when the facilitators come in and train the workers at the initial session, it is made very clear, leave your doctrines, Bibles, and denominations at home. This is the place for unity and tolerance, not strife. As soon as someone stands for truth to the point of dissension, he will be asked to leave. The point of the activity is not housing the poor, but team-building interdenominationally, or ecumenical unity, a hallmark of Jimmy Carter's career and new age psycho-salvation faith. Remember, he was a convert of his sister, the inner healer, Ruth Carter Stapleton, who could as easily reach Buddhists, Hindis and Muslims with her avatar-based visualization into a watered-down humanistic kingdom. Jimmy is a disciple of the Plan, whether he is a hard-core Baileyite or not. And he is now successfully ram-rodding fundamentalists into a radical "spiritual" movement that they would never have considered joining if it were so identified. And he is leading them into it voluntarily, another unique hallmark of the Plan.
Jimmy Carter explains how the Christian right isn't Christian at all.
By Ayelish McGarvey
Web Exclusive: 04.05.04 Former President Jimmy Carter, America's first evangelical Christian president, still teaches Sunday school at his Baptist church in Plains, Georgia, and he and his wife, Rosalynn, continue their human-rights work in developing nations through the Carter Center at Emory University. In recent months, the Carters toured Togo, Ghana, and Mali to raise awareness of the public-health needs of those nations. In February, Carter spoke about the role of evangelical Christianity in democratic politics with Prospect writing fellow Ayelish McGarvey. Republicans have been extremely successful at connecting religion and values to issues like the fight against terrorism, abortion, and gay rights. Democrats have been far less adept at infusing our issues -- compassion, help for the poor, social justice -- with any sense of religious commitment or moral imperative. Why do you think that is? When I was younger, almost all Baptists were strongly committed on a theological basis to the separation of church and state. It was only 25 years ago when there began to be a melding of the Republican Party with fundamentalist Christianity, particularly with the Southern Baptist Convention. This is a fairly new development, and I think it was brought about by the abandonment of some of the basic principles of Christianity. First of all, we worship the prince of peace, not war. And those of us who have advocated for the resolution of international conflict in a peaceful fashion are looked upon as being unpatriotic, branded that way by right-wing religious groups, the Bush administration, and other Republicans. Secondly, Christ was committed to compassion for the most destitute, poor, needy, and forgotten people in our society. Today there is a stark difference [between conservative ideology and Christian teaching] because most of the people most strongly committed to the Republican philosophy have adopted the proposition that help for the rich is the best way to help even poor people (by letting some of the financial benefits drip down to those most deeply in need). I
Hi everyone!
Hi pete ... thanks for the invite! Hi phungus ... be seein ya soon!
Today there is a stark difference [between conservative ideology and Christian teaching] because most of the people most strongly committed to the Republican philosophy have adopted the proposition that help for the rich is the best way to help even poor people (by letting some of the financial benefits drip down to those most deeply in need). I would say there has been a schism drawn -- on theology and practical politics and economics between the two groups. What has attracted conservative Christians to a party that protects corporate interests and promotes an aggressive foreign-policy agenda? How do those square? There is an element of fundamentalism involved, which involves the belief on the part of a human being that [his or her] own concept of God is the proper one. And since [he or she has] the proper concept of God, [he or she is] particularly blessed and singled out for special consideration above and beyond those who disagree with [him or her]. Secondly, anyone who does disagree with [him or her], since [he or she is] harnessed to God in a unique way, then, by definition, must be wrong. And the second step is if you are in disagreement with [his or her] concept of the way to worship, even among the Christian community, is that you are inferior to [him or her]. And then the ultimate progression of that is that you’re not only different and wrong and inferior but in some ways you are subhuman. So there’s a loss of concern even for the death of those who disagree. And this takes fundamentalism to the extreme. This is an element of the fundamentalist cause in this country. If you are a wealthy white man, then you are naturally inclined to think that the poor are inferior and don’t deserve your first consideration. If you are a wealthy white man, then you also take on the proposition that women are inherently inferior. This builds up a sense of prejudice and alienation that permeates the Christian right during these days. What issues do you see galvanizing moderate evangelicals as they go to the polls in November? I’ve been involved in national politics now for more than 25 years. But this year we will see the Democratic Party more united than ever before in m
You really have to wonder about the world when kindness is suspect at every turn. And labels with scads of varied meanings mean more than one's direct personal experience.
Eat Pork!
I’ve been involved in national politics now for more than 25 years. But this year we will see the Democratic Party more united than ever before in my memory, and even the earlier history that I studied before my life began. I think we’re completely united with a determination to replace the Bush administration and its fundamentalist, right-wing philosophy with the more moderate qualities that have always exemplified what our nation is: a nation committed to strength in the military. I served longer in the military than any other president since the Civil War except Dwight Eisenhower. I was a submarine officer. I used the enormous and unmatched strength of America to promote peace for other people and preserve peace for ourselves. Now it seems as though it is an attractive thing in Washington to resort to war in the very early stage of resolving an altercation; a completely unnecessary war that President Bush decided to launch against the Iraqis is an example of that. And I think that a reaction against that warlike attitude on the part of America to the exclusion of almost all other nations in the world -- and arousing fear in them -- is going to be a driving issue. I think that the abandonment of environmental issues even endorsed by President Nixon when I was governor (as well as virtually all of the Republicans and Democrats) has been notable under the Bush administration. One of the things I learned as a young Baptist boy was to be a steward of the world that God blessed us to enjoy. And I think the abandonment of basic environmental standards by the Bush administration rallies us. And I think the third thing is the obvious orientation of the Bush administration toward Halliburton, Enron, and other major corporations. You see this in the enormous tax reductions that have been granted to people that make more than $200,000 a year. That is another issue on which the Democrats will rally a common goal. Do you think that Democrats will be able to attract Bible-believing Christians in a year that gay marriage will be used as a smokescreen to distract attention from those issues? I think so. There isn’t a major candidate who has endorsed gay marriage; they are in fa
hey phungus ... I thought you were emersed in yoga so you could blow yourself? what ever happened to your commitment?
i think so. There isn’t a major candidate who has endorsed gay marriage; they are in favor of equal protection through a civil-union arrangement. I personally, in my Sunday-school lessons, don’t favor the religious endorsement of a gay marriage. But I do favor equal treatment under the law for people who differ from me in sexual orientation. What about abortion? How would you speak to moderate evangelicals who withhold support for Democratic candidates on that single issue? This was an issue that I had to face when I was campaigning 25 years ago. I have always been against abortion; it’s not possible for me in my own concept of Christ to believe that Jesus would favor abortion. But at the same time, I have supported the Supreme Court ruling of our country as the law of the land. And the present arrangement, whereby a woman is authorized to have an abortion in the first trimester of the pregnancy, or when the pregnancy is caused by rape or incest -- these are the things that moderates who have beliefs like mine can accept as the present circumstances in our country. The liberality of abortion is anointed by the laws of our country, including the ultimate ruling of the Supreme Court. How do you think the fundamentalist Christian right has misrepresented Christianity, as well as the democratic process? Well, what do Christians stand for, based exclusively on the words and actions of Jesus Christ? We worship him as a prince of peace. And I think almost all Christians would conclude that whenever there is an inevitable altercation -- say, between a husband and a wife, or a father and a child, or within a given community, or between two nations (including our own) -- we should make every effort to resolve those differences which arise in life through peaceful means. Therein, we should not resort to war as a way to exalt the president as the commander in chief. A commitment to peace is certainly a Christian principle that even ultraconservatives would endorse, at least by worshipping the prince of peace. And Christ reached out almost exclusively to the poor, suffering, abandoned, deprived -- the scorned, the condemned people -- including Samaritans and those who were dis
Btw ... MoveOn.org is a 501 ... the 527 is MoveOn Voter Fund ... MoveOn.org (which does the ads) would be uneffected by the law ...
And Christ reached out almost exclusively to the poor, suffering, abandoned, deprived -- the scorned, the condemned people -- including Samaritans and those who were diseased. The alleviation of suffering was a philosophy that was enhanced and emphasized by the life of Christ. Today the ultra-right wing, in both religion and politics, has abandoned that principle of Jesus Christ’s ministry. Those are the two principal things in the practical sense that starkly separate the ultra-right Christian community from the rest of the Christian world: Do we endorse and support peace and support the alleviation of suffering among the poor and the outcast? You spent so much of your career working toward a reasonable, peaceful solution to violence and strife in Israel and Palestine. Increasing attention has been paid to traditionalist evangelicals’ strong support for Israel, based on the New Testament prophecy that the reconstruction of the ancient kingdom of David will usher in the “end times” and the Second Coming of Christ. As a believer and a peacemaker, how do you respond to this? That’s a completely foolish and erroneous interpretation of the Scriptures. And it has resulted in these last few years with a terrible, very costly, and bloody deterioration in the relationship between Israel and its neighbors. Every president except for George W. Bush has taken a relatively balanced position between the Israelis and their enemies, always strongly supporting Israel but recognizing that you have to negotiate and work between Israel and her neighbors in order to bring about a peaceful resolution. It’s nearly the 25th anniversary of my consummation of a treaty between Israel and Egypt -- not a word of which has ever been violated. But this administration, maybe strongly influenced by ill-advised theologians of the extreme religious right, has pretty well abandoned any real effort that could lead to a resolution of the problems between Israel and the Palestinians. And no one can challenge me on my commitment to Israel and its right to live in peace with all its neighbors. But at the same time, there has to be a negotiated settlement; you can’t just ordain the destruction of the Palestinian

But at the same time, there has to be a negotiated settlement; you can’t just ordain the destruction of the Palestinian people, and their community and their political entity, in favor of the Israelis. And that’s what some of the extreme fundamentalist Christians have done, both to the detriment of the Israelis and the Palestinians.

MoveOn.org PAC was the one I had in mind. // No. By Clinton lackeys I meant the Clinton people who are now infused in such groups behind and supporting Kerry as Harold Ickes (Media Fund) and Steve Rosenthal (ACT). But you know all that. Quit playing. Of course I have researched MoveOn and their funding. You haven't??? If you were under the impression they were "just" a "grassroots" org that was composed of concerned private citizens like you, you were quite deluded. What did you donate to MoveOn? Probably well under $1,000? The least "top" named contributors list stops at $1,000. Who is at the top, for 2004 thus far (never mind 2003)? 1) George Soros, 2.6 million (worth 7 bil)
2) Peter B Lewis, 2.6 million (worth 1.6 bil)
3) Stephen Bing, .971 million (worth .5 bil) Those are the top 3. #4 is a big drop, at just .309 million, "retired", a catch all. This pattern is repeated over the other big lib 527 groups. ACT, Media Fund, Join Victory Campaign 2004, Service Emplyees Int'l Union. The first 3 are front groups for billionaires with spare cash. But isn't the fourth interesting? A union jamming millions of union dues into the political process. With all the billionaires, millionaires, and special interests groups, the libs aren't looking like they present themselves, hmm? 87% of 527 money is being spent by liberal groups, as ABC News has reported. The major media was happy to ignore this fact. But now Kerry's boohoo bleating has started the fall of the house of cards. Woops. Wake up, Neo.

Most Iraqis would define liberation as the end of the American military occupation and their ability to choose a government of their liking. It seems highly likely that the Iraqi elections scheduled for January 2005 will be postponed for a good long time, allowing caretaker Prime Minister Iyad Allawi to consolidate his power (though whether the ongoing resistance to the occupation will allow him to do so is in doubt). Liberation as self-determination is not in evidence in either Afghanistan or Iraq. That is why the Iraqi soccer team spoke out against Bush. -- Juan Cole http://www.juancole.com/

Not that you can distinguish this ... but Kerry was responding to lies ... MoveOn gets slammed for telling the truth ... but again ... the ads are from MoveOn.org (a 501) the campaign contributions from MoveOn Voter Fund (the 527) just get contributed to Kerry ... fyi ... bitch Posted by: Nik E Poo at August 24, 2004 02:32 AM

I'm generally a winter person, nik, so you can see how living here kinda... doesn't make much sense. I haven't seen snow in years! I should go up to Jerusalem or mount Hermon this winter and play in the snow... (did that sound sexual at all?)
I like phungus he is my partner remeber the summer of '69, Phungie?
~~~ Very non politically correct the whole thing ~~~ Pollitical correctness is a disease of only a tiny portion of the population. I don't like fur coats because they make the wearer look like a damned Neanderthal. The same cannot be said for those Russian fur hats. Very stylish. Cute as hell.
But then again 30 months of his entire "service" was fake as fake can be... "DESERTER" "THE STORY OF GEORGE W. BUSH AFTER HE QUIT THE TEXAS AIR NATIONAL GUARD" "An examination of the Bush military files within the context of US Statutory Law, Department of Defense regulations, and Air Force policies and procedures of that era lead to a single conclusion: George W. Bush was considered a deserter by the United States Air Force." http://www.glcq.com/bush_at_arpc1.htm
Welp it's official Phungus skipped right past these articles... "Bush's Bogus Medals" "In this picture, George W. Bush is wearing an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (AFOUA - the wing) and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (SAEMR)." http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/04/08/con04346.html "George W. Bush was photographed wearing a ribbon he did not earn" "We can clearly see that in this picture, George W. Bush is wearing an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, however, on line 24 of his ARG22 National Guard discharge form, George W. Bush has NO awards listed:" http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x654437
Phungus, do not listen to Nobody Laws are flismy things, made to be broken Made to be manipulated and twisted Laws are relative, like anything else
"How Do They Get Away With It?" "It is not an enjoyable experience watching the Republican Party descend into the depths of propaganda and falsehood. Today's disaffected Republicans once believed the GOP to be the party of principle. Any remaining claim to principle ended with Bush's invasion of Iraq" http://www.antiwar.com/roberts/?articleid=3431
Nik... I've challenged all the liberals who say we must stay to come up with the best means of pulling out of Iraq if some other international situation made it absolutely necessary. Like if we need (I mean like REALLY need) our forces elsewhere. My guess is once we come up with those best means of leaving... they'll be obviously better for all involved than our staying. That's my present way of placing the argument. A thought experiment, of sorts. Once people are out of the box... they find it difficult to climb back in.
Aww gee phungus is leaving again...and he didn't get to see the good stuff yet... "Swift Boat To Dirty Politics" "(CBS) Well, here we go again." "Just when we needed a campaign about serious issues -- and for a minute there, it looked as if we might get one -- along comes the Swift Boat crowd and their charges that John Kerry didn't deserve the medals he won for valor under fire in Vietnam." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/08/16/opinion/schieffer/main636333.shtml
"Okay.. I get it... the "snow" is analogous to the white background of a drawing... no... a cartoon. Yes, I see it now." Yes, that is exactly what I meant. hehe, sex in the snow in jerusalem... on Shabat! You know, there are a few orthodox neighbourhoods where, if you drive on a shabat, they throw shit at you... What would they do if you had sex in the snow on shabat?
I mean come on phungus can't your side face any issues at all? "Bush Misleads on Connection to Smear Campaign" "President Bush has adamantly denied any connection to discredited and unsubstantial attack ads, run by the so-called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SBVT), a group that aims to smear John Kerry's record of honorable military service. On Friday, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said that the White House and the Bush/Cheney campaign "weren't involved in any way in these [SBVT] ads."" http://www.misleader.org/daily_mislead/Read.asp?fn=df08232004.html
Should we talk about the issues? ... naw! ... well maybe just one ... http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc?cid=34&tmpl=fc&in=Business&cat=Labor_and_Workplace Pretty sweet how that works huh?
Nik... you think my thought experiment is a good idea? Seems okay to me but must need something. I don't see anyone jumping up and down trying to implement it. But I think Kerry will have to. The American people are just not going to permit our continued occupation of Iraq. So somebody better start thinking about the best way of getting out.
Oh.. that was from The Big Lebowski, by the way. I'm sure everybody knew that anyways.
