Inappropriate Touching

This is Cranes' virgin SSS blog post. It is Inappropriate Touching. It is a self-indulgent thread about things I am currently pumped about.

Feel free to contribute.

Sometimes there’s no star shining
Scouting the edge of the universe
Sometimes you can’t see a horizon
Between the ocean and the earth

And just when you were thinking about slinkin’ down
I’m gonna pull you up – I’m gonna pull ya round
May I remind you of that scene?
The spirit is our gasoline
May I remind you of that scene?
We were arms aloft in Aberdeen
May I remind you of that scene?
Let a million mirror balls beam
May I remind you of that scene?

And you say ‘living ain’t nothing but hassles’
In a manilla envelope rain
And driving coal all-night to Newcastle
It’s getting to be a repetitive strain
And just when you thought you're going down the drain …

May I remind you of that scene?
The spirit is our gasoline
May I remind you of that scene?
We were arms aloft in Aberdeen
May I remind you of that scene?
Let a million mirror balls beam
May I remind you of that scene?

I’m gonna pull you up – I’m gonna pull ya round

May I remind you of that scene?
The spirit is our gasoline
May I remind you of that scene?
We were arms aloft in Aberdeen

Let a million mirror balls beam
The spirit is our gasoline
May I remind you of that scene?
We were arms aloft in Aberdeen

They say the stars can’t see their rays
Nor can they count their numbered days
No flower can says what perfume is
We got all this and Bird and Diz
May I remind you of that scene?
We were arms aloft in Aberdeen

May I remind you of that scene?

I'd like that last song to be played at my funeral, hopefully many years from now but just in case a bus hits me or something :) Do you remember Seattle? Do you remember what was happening? W succeeded in throwing us all off track, myself included. Let's learn that lesson and move on. Keep up the fight no matter what happens. This is no game, this life. And there's never a valid reason for a cease-fire in the world of ideas and ideals. Bullets, bombs, planes, those are real things that kill people and disrupt your life. Let's not ever let them disrupt our souls again.

Mimikra

Mimikra

Alice, patterns superimposed on the female form... Why do I feel like I'm undergoing psychological testing of some sort? Is that part of your grand scheme?!

I think they're lovely. Do they come in Paisley? And if so, do they deliver?

The Luxury

a wonderful Boston band

I've decided that music-wise, I'm solely buying local from now on. Boston has an unbelievable music scene, but it's very insular and inaccessible to the general public.

Hooray for Earth

Possibly the greatest current Boston band
Ever wonder what Weezer would sound like if they were a Boston band?

They're goddamned amazing. Really the flagship of the Boston music scene.

And if you really want your mind blown, go to:
http://www.thephiller.com/podcasts/2008/12/new-song-daily-212-hooray-for...

and DOWNLOAD to the track, "Take Care".

They can be also be found at http://www.myspace.com/hooray4earth

You're welcome.

Whether you'll like the new U2 single depends on two things:
1) Whether you hate Bono
2) Whether you like experimental U2, or traditional U2

Personally, I think it's ace. I'm a huge fan of Achtung Baby and Zooropa. This song is like a cross between Love and Primal Scream. It's wonderful to hear them back with Brian Eno, making music that's really too weird for commercial airplay. It's gonna make the Joshua Tree fans squirm...

The Wandas

Another great Massachusetts band.

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the video, although granted the budget was probably about $8. And their record is good, but a little wimpy. They were great live though, good and loud. Gorgeous live, actually.

Owww. I love it. Better than they ever were!

right , Cath?

"I don't wanna talk about wars between nations"
Of course that ain't the truth, but it's much more interesting lyrically... We must all have faith in The Eno. In Brian Eno we trust. All others, including Bono, must pay cash. But if the rest of the record is this good, well, I'd suggest freeing up those credit markets...
