Why do you you think that? India has had issues with terrorism for a long time. I don't see how it's in the best interest of the Shadow Government to encourage nuclear war between India and Pakistan.?

Obviously you're just not paying attention.
First this morning with the FBI reporting that terrorism is expected against NY subways.
Then this India bruhaha with a small band of thugs aiming at Americans and Britons.
Then a British diplomat making a comment about how we need to be wary of increased terrorist element.
Exactly where did you get India going to war with Pakistan? As if this had anything to do with Indian government...or Pakistani, for that matter.

Well, I guess I'm just not connecting all the dots.
They haven't pulled out the 'ol terror threat in a while, eh? I did think it an odd coincidence that the situation in India happened the same day. Hadn't heard about the British diplomat.
What I was trying to say is that if this ends up being the work of a Pakistani-funded jihadi group there might very well be nuclear war between the countries. They don't have much love for each other.

Crystal Bowl Persuasion
posted b: Jonathan PhillipsReality Sandwich is proud to be a media sponsor for a Journey with the Sound of Crystal Bowls featuring Philippe Garnier at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in NYC on December 4th. This will be an opportunity to feel yourself energized and vibrating at a higher frequency, merging with the sacred sound of crystal bowls, experiencing scared spaceand letting the healing take place. Sound (the Word) has been called the original creational tone. Everything is made up of energy at various frequencies. All things in nature vibrate to sound, light and color. Sound frequencies effect everything about us.
The correct vibrational frequencies can be used to heal and balance our bodies.
Sound healing is the practice of using sound to realize and correct imbalances in the body. Sound healing works on the belief that the human body is not solid. Rather it is energy that is held together by sound. Any disease therefore indicates that some sound has gone out of tune. December 4 at 8pm COSM. 542 W27th. First White House Chrismukkah cards accidentally sent..
From CNN White House Producer Jamie Crawford
WHITE HOUSE (CNN) - Whoops! A picture of a Christmas tree is not the first thing you would expect to see on an invitation to an event celebrating Hanukkah, but that is exactly what recipients of invitations to this year's White House Hanukkah reception initially got in the mail.
The invitation sent to American Jewish leaders on behalf of the President and First Lady, requesting "the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception," bore an image of a Clydesdale horse-drawn cart, carrying the White House Christmas tree, with a Christmas wreath-adorned White House in the background.

Cognition and Culture is a fantastic new group blog by a distinguished group of writers who include some of the leading figures in neuroscience, psychology and anthropology.
It's from the International Cognition and Culture Institute and contains articles on everything from whether 'cold' and 'warm' are universal metaphors for relationships to the unexpected impact of pop-cognitive science on British schoolgirls (isn't that just a Carry On film waiting to happen?).
There's also plenty of great neuroscience coverage and it's updated regularly. Good stuff.

'Hostages freed' at Mumbai
'Hostages freed' at Mumbai hotel
A number of hostages have been freed from one of Mumbai's top hotels - one of several sites in the city targeted by armed men - eyewitnesses said.
But the situation at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel remains confused, with explosions and gunfire heard coming from inside the hotel.
Police chief AN Roy says gunmen are still believed to be holding hostages at the Oberoi Trident hotel.
The series of attacks began late Wednesday and have killed 101 people.
Some 287 people were injured after the attackers, using grenades and automatic weapons, targeted at least seven sites in the main tourist and business district.
Around 40 people were believed to be held hostage at the two hotels, and hundreds trapped in their rooms, as troops began surrounding the buildings soon after they were taken over by the armed men.
Ambulances arrive
Maharashtra state police chief AN Roy told local television that the siege at the Taj Mahal - one of Mumbai's most recognisable hotels - had ended.
"People who were held up there, they have all been rescued. But there are guests in the rooms, we don't know how many."
Witnesses said civilians could be seen running from the hotel, some with suitcases. Ambulances were also reported to be arriving.
But the BBC's Mark Dummett, outside the Taj Mahal, says the situation has since become very confused, with the sounds of explosions and gunfire being heard from within the hotel, suggesting the siege is not yet over.
Earlier in the day, Indian commandos had been seen entering the hotels but there was little detail on the operation.
Mr Roy said some people were still apparently being held hostage at the Oberoi. "That is why the operation is being conducted more sensitively to ensure there are no casualties of innocent people," he said.
Meanwhile, explosions have been heard outside a Jewish centre in the city, where an Israeli rabbi is believed to be one of a number of hostages being held there.
Troops have surrounded the offices of the group Chabad Lubavitch, which were stormed by gunmen overnight.
The city's main commuter train station, a hospital, and a restaurant popular with tourists were also among at least seven locations caught up in the violence on Wednesday.
Police say 14 police officers, 81 Indian nationals and six foreigners have been killed. A Japanese businessman and an Italian national were confirmed to be among the dead.
Four suspected terrorists have also been killed and nine arrested, they add.
Eyewitness reports from the hotels suggested the attackers were singling out British and American passport holders.
If the reports are true, our security correspondent Frank Gardner says it implies an Islamist motive - attacks inspired or co-ordinated by al-Qaeda.
A claim of responsibility has been made by a previously unknown group calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen. Our correspondent says it could be a hoax or assumed name for another group.

You Cannot Pardon a Crime You Authorized
Submitted by davidswanson on Thu, 2008-11-27 03:51. Criminal Prosecution
Statement from the Steering Committee for the Prosecution for War Crimes of President Bush and His Subordinates
Never before has a president pardoned himself or his subordinates for crimes he authorized. The closest thing to this in U.S. history thus far has been Bush's commutation of Scooter Libby's sentence. Bush is widely expected to follow that commutation with a pardon. Not only did Libby work for the White House, but he was convicted of obstruction of justice in an investigation that was headed to the president. Evidence introduced in the trial, including a hand-written note by the vice president, implicated Bush, and former press secretary Scott McClellan has since testified that Bush authorized the exposure of an undercover agent, that being the crime that was under investigation.
There are widespread concerns that Bush might pardon other subordinates for various other crimes that he authorized, potentially including torture, warrantless spying, a variety of war crimes, taking the nation to war on fraudulent evidence, and the abuses of the politicized Justice Department. Voices in the media advising Bush to issue such pardons include: Stuart Taylor Jr. (Newsweek 7/12/08) and Alan Dershowitz (Wall St Journal 9/12/08), while many additional voices have urged Obama to commit to not prosecuting.
The idea that the pardon power constitutionally includes such pardons ignores a thousand year tradition in which no man can sit in judgment of himself, and the fact that James Madison and George Mason argued that the reason we needed the impeachment power was that a president might some day try to pardon someone for a crime that he himself was involved in. The problem is not preemptive pardons of people not yet tried and convicted. The problem is not blanket pardons of unnamed masses of people. Both of those types of pardons have been issued in the past and have their appropriate place. The problem is the complete elimination of any semblance of the rule of law if Bush pardons his subordinates for crimes he instructed or authorized them to commit.
If Bush attempts this, here are possible responses:

happy thanksgiving to all seder blogsters

yeah yeah i know the romans committed even worse back in the day (or even nowadays for that matter)... but let's not think about ugliness today
i am going to friends' house today and I will bring...

I've got tendenitis in my heel bones now (didn't know this was possible) hopefuly it will be worth the effort, if not, we'll be back.
That whole democracy thing...It's not easy eh?
Morning mire
As you can see, I look more Italian than Greek.
When I was in Italy, everyone would speak Italian to me. They had no clue I was from the US. I guess I had that European look because everywhere I went in Europe, they could spot an American. It was the same in Spain, but in Greece, they thought I was Italian.
Morning maggiesboy
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and your cute little Olivia!
Well Froggy, I can sympathize
Only my problem is my knees.
The last 54 days of the Bush Dynasty will be difficult, but looking forward to better days!
1979 was a terrible year
ayatollah revolution in iran, saddam hussein came to power in iraq, terrorism in italy, a year earlier the italian prime minister was assassinated by the red brigades, some believe it was engineered by the CIA because Aldo Moro was about to form a center-left coalition cabinet with the communist party
But Mire was oblivious to politics and history, young, had a 2 year old beautiful daughter, was still married to a very blond, very white, very good, american musician, and vacationing in Mexico
Cool! Pictures!
Buenos Dias!
Feliz dia del Pabo!
hey maggiesboy nice to see ya!
happy thanksgiving to you and your family
Mire, you look like Joan Baez!
intense and sultry!!
Obama picks foxes to guard henhouse
Robert Scheer, Creators Syndicate
Wednesday, November 26, 2008
Maybe Ralph Nader was right in predicting that the same Wall Street hustlers would have a lock on our government no matter which major party won the election. I hate to admit it, since it wasn't that long ago that I heatedly challenged Nader in a debate on this very point.
But how else is one to respond to Barack Obama's picking the very folks who helped get us into this financial mess to now lead us out of it?
http://www.sfgate.com/columnists/scheer/
yummmm! Mimosas
I bake my turkey in 3/4 of a bottle of champagne and a cup of apple cider. So I've got a few mimosas to "put down" if anyone wants one. They are fantastic!
HEY MAGGIESBOY!

joan baez lookalike
lol michele, when i came to the us i used to have people stop and stare in the street, in elevators, everywhere, occasionally approached and asked "excuse me, are you joan baez?" I had to laugh, i had no clue what they were talking about, until i saw joan baez's pictures
funny thing is i still do look like her, my hair is short now (though not as white as hers)
and toni, that was my hippy phase too, in that picture
fernando! 3/4 champagne bottle for the turkey!
that turkey not feeling any pain, that's for sure
it seems a little excessive though, bet it's gonna be good, too bad it can't be posted on the blog, ok i'll take that mimosa, thanks!
Bush: ‘I will miss being Commander-in-Chief’
In his last Thanksgiving address in the White House, President Bush said Thursday that he will miss being the leader of the U.S. armed forces.
“Lately, I have been asked what I will miss about the presidency. And my answer is that I will miss being the Commander-in-Chief of these brave warriors.”

the traditional Texas v Texas A&M game is showing on ESPN at 7pm here.
I ate nothing yesterday except for a piece of toast for breakfast and another for dinner. I had a cornbread roll this morning and a mimosa.
Why do I already feel stuffed? Looking at all this food makes me want to take a nap.
DANG SJ - You look so happy with yourself in those pictures. Did you eat or sell those monsters?
Happy Thanksgiving
Sam, Mark, blog!!!And families!!
eya Fer!
i sold them, and then bought back a few of them from the cannery and took em to the commune at Big Creek for the big BBQ that year. was my birthday bash.
Had about a half ton of big ones like that. found them about 20 miles offshore where nobody else ever fished. some of my old tuna fishing guys told me about hooking a few up on my old AM radio while i was fishing inshore off the Rogue River Reef.
the one on the left was 46 ponds, the one on the right was 50 after they were dressed.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota's U.S. Senate showdown is veering down a path toward the courts and possibly the Senate itself after a panel's ruling on rejected absentee ballots dealt a blow to Democrat Al Franken's chances.
For the first time, his campaign on Wednesday openly discussed mounting challenges after the hand recount involving Franken and Republican Sen. Norm Coleman concludes. That includes the possibility of drawing the Senate into the fracas.
The state Canvassing Board denied Franken's request to factor absentee ballots rejected by poll workers into the recount. He sought to overturn the exclusions in cases where ballots were invalidated over signature problems or other voter errors. Coleman's campaign maintained the board lacked power to revisit those ballots.
Franken entered the recount trailing Coleman by 215 votes out of 2.9 million ballots. As of Wednesday night, Coleman was up 292 votes, including results from Nov. 4 and recounted ones.
All told, 86 percent of the ballots have been recounted. However, about 4,740 ballots have been challenged by the two campaigns that could fall to the canvassing board to rule on.
The ruling wasn't a complete victory for Coleman. The board left open the possibility of examining ballots that were set aside for errors outside of the voter's control.
Secretary of State Mark Ritchie estimated that 12,000 absentee ballots were rejected for various reasons _ some legitimate, some not. That represents between 4 percent and 5 percent of all the absentee ballots cast.
Franken's campaign had made the push to factor in rejected absentee ballots key to its recount strategy, even going to court to force county officials to turn over data on voters whose ballots didn't count.

Marc Elias, the legal chief for Franken, said the campaign won't appeal the board's ruling but it could seek intervention of another kind once the recount wraps up.
"Whether it is at the county level, before the Canvassing Board, before the courts or before the United States Senate, we don't know yet. But we remain confident these votes will be counted," Elias said.
The board's decision drew a response from the Senate's top Democrat, Majority Leader Harry Reid, who called it a "cause for great concern."
"As the process moves forward, Minnesota authorities must ensure that no voter is disenfranchised," Reid said in a statement. "A citizen's right to have his or her vote counted is fundamental in our democracy."
The Senate has in rare cases inserted itself into elections, including a 1996 Louisiana race and a 1974 New Hampshire contest. The body has the power to determine its members' qualifications.
Along with the Dec. 2 runoff in Georgia, the Minnesota race is one of two unresolved contests and could determine if Democrats build a majority large enough to fend off GOP filibusters.

Recount in MN
My understanding of the Minnesota ruling was that the Canvassing Board, while holding that there was probably merit in Franken's request to include absentee ballots, did not have the jurisdiction to rule on it. The courts do. The spin seems to be that Franken lost his request absolutely.

We've been noting the rapidly increasing number of challenged ballots by both campaigns. Nate Silver, who noted that Coleman's challenges suddenly increased exponentially as of Day 4 of hand-counting, believes that there are likely more legitimate challenges in the Franken stack than in the Coleman stack, and those ballots --- counted by the state Canvassing Board after the initial hand count is concluded --- will likely determine the race.
On the heels of our coverage of that issue yesterday, which noted that Coleman now seems to be making ridiculous challenges at this point --- e.g., ballots showing votes for McCain and for Franken, or for nobody at all in the Senate race, must have been voter error --- several have suggested that Coleman's challenges may be part of a scheme to keep his "lead" from the original machine tabulated count in place. The strategy would allow Coleman the (cynical) PR advantage of being able to claim: "We won the original count! And we won the recount!"
Sound familiar, yet?
That misleading claim will be made loudly across the entire Republican echo-chamber (which, shamefully, includes your public airwaves on talk radio, 24/7) and will be followed quickly with: "Don't let leftist, MoveOn.org-supported, Democrat Sec. of State Mark Ritchie thwart the will of the people and steal the election for Al Franken with his hand-picked State Canvassing Board!"
While an absurd case to make, hey, it worked for George W. Bush in 2000 when the GOP claimed "He won the first count, he won the recount, he won the second recount, etc." Never mind that none of those counts were ever completed, or even carried out as per state law, the Bush team was more than happy to go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court making that case, and that their client would be "irreparably harmed" if all ballots were allowed to be counted, since the media had already announced him as the "winner."
On that score, we'll take the opportunity to mention that had all of the ballots been allowed to have been counted in the state of Florida in 2000, Al Gore would have been the winner [PDF].
Receiving the most votes is beside the point for the GOP, however. They have proven themselves willing to do anything to win. If you have any question about that, go see their shameful, official "Minnesota Recount" website where they have been claiming for weeks that Franken and the Democrats are "stealing the election." The official website of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has been unabashedly making that case, for weeks, without any actual evidence to support their ridiculous claim. But who cares. Anything to "win" for those guys, apparently.
