Maron and Seder's Big Adventure
Submitted by Cat Chew on Sat, 08/23/2008 - 8:05pm.
After I recovered from my intro-to-the-announcement-induced daze, I think I heard that there will be daily Maron v Seder webisodes during the Democratic National Convention, and daily shows starting in September (at least until the election) supported by AAR. I don't see any mention of it on the AAR website, not even in the Editor's posts (SEDER, you got some splaining to do!), and I haven't gotten a new Seder Reader email with details. Sheesh! Keeping my fingers crossed that AAR won't be asking us to pony up at the Premium stable. Smart-assery aside, I'm looking forward to it, especially Maron during the convention. Just in case I got things mixed-up, Maron v Seder - August 22, 2008 I missed the first few minutes, but Fernando's got it covered. Great screen shots from (who else?) Jmach1JP
Post edited to correct a big boo-boo! In my defence, I work cheap and I'm only human (and don't let anyone tell you different). »

Re: Audio: Marc & Sam 8/25
Whew! Thanks much, Jmach1JP. I was getting video and audio but had a series of short power outages here and missed much of the show. Feel bad about not hearing more from Seder but delighted with Maron for picking up the ball and keeping it in motion despite the confusion and FUBARness. I was looking forward to his overview and am really happy to have an audio file I can pass around to my friends. This is a great show!
Thanks
I needed that

There was a 20 second delay at my end between
Marc speaking, and Sam responding. Now I can try
and catch up. I'm working on recording the VOD's
on to VHS tapes using a Video Camera Aimed at my
monitor.

There is a slight audio buzz. I was unable to monitor
my recording at work today, too much to do.
The levels seamed ok, however I'm guessing I had the pc output too low, and the nobs on my tape deck too high.
If someone has a better version please share.
This every day thing is kicking my ass.
Saying up late to watch the convention coverage, then
work early next morn'in, I need a nap
Thanks, Jmach1JP
I had a small emergency and left without turning on my recorder. Naturally when I returned, I read comments like "best show ever". Glad you caught it. Hope you have the three-day weekend off, and here's to a speedy recovery!
both you guys...
are awesome...I have this page bookmarked and look forward to updating my IPOD every night with the new shows...
Re: I have this page bookmarked
I'm hoping Jmach1JP will start a new Open Mic for the new series of Seder v Maron/Maron v Seder shows. I also hope you bookmarked this page, because this is where all the good stuff is:

Thank you everyone that's doing audio...
Thanks Jmach1JP and Cat Chew, along with Fernando and all the others that have made audio available for Sam's shows. It's nearly impossible for me to watch these shows live, and the VOD is great but costly when it comes to bandwidth, so these audio recordings are wonderful.
Sam really should link from his menu to not only the VOD, but also to audio linkage for those of us that download and listen to audio only. Much smaller files and bandwidth needed.
Thanks again to you folks!
Better audio from 28 August 2008
I recorded this from the VoD.
The last couple of minutes of the show are missing.

RE: Future Recordings
I can not promise I will be able
to continue to record the shows Live, if they
are an every day occurance.
A weekly show, most likely.
If the show were to move to Evenings: YES.
Before too long the network Adminitrator at
my place of employment will likely block
my access to the internet. I am supose to
be working, not playing on the computer.
Keep your fingers crossed...
I emailed the big question:
So, any plans for AAR audio podcasts of Maron v Seder?
and got the reply:
yeah- we'll stream audio and video plus make an audio and video podcast.
Woo-hoo!
Here's hoping everything works out well and according to plan!
Jmach1JP's predicament..
Jmach...how do you normally record the live stream?
I work from home so I may be able to help out...
AAR website
I don't see mention of today's show on AAR's home page so I set up my recorder, but I have to let it run unattended. Eh. Here's hoping...

While at work I use a small cassette deck.
Using the output jacks on the pc's sound card,
and the RCA input jacks on the back of the deck.
Afterward I bring the tape home and put it in another
tape deck conected to the line in jack on my home pc's
sound card.
play the tape while using "MusicMatch" software to record
from the selected source Line In and it creates an .mp3 file
at between 8kbs to 160kbs . For Dial-up users it's best to record at 24 - 32 kbs. That way it can be streamed or downloaded quicker.
Then the .mp3 file must be uploaded to an online storage
service like "Fileden", or "Mediafire", or "yousendit"
Then you must copy the direct link to the file to
a comment or Open Mic on this blog.
If you don't have an old tape deck, maybe you have a 2ed pc.
Use one to play the Show ,and use the other pc to record it.
Or if you only have 1 pc: buy, or find a used audio cassette deck. Connect the output of the deck to the line in
on your pc's sound card. connect the line out jack on the sound card to the tape decks line in jacks.
Your Sound Card Should have at least 3 jacks, maybe 4:
Microphone, line in, line out, Speakers.
I mostly work on this Win98 pc with "MusicMatch" 4.00
that I downloaded back in Oct. of 2000
