Fritz is a teledoctor. I bet he can see my butt from his tv right now.

This is a weird place. How did you get here CB?

I have a talent for nattering-on to myself on an abandoned thread, so I click the Recent Posts link now and again to see if everyone else has moved on.

There is more to this story.....

But the best part is how the ad goes from Rudy to Franken.

Crank, I have a question I have asked since day 1.

Is this Sam's site or not? Is this an AAR site? Who really owns the domain?

Do I Look Like A Reliable Source?

Fernando,
Sam always asserted that the old Majority Report blog site was his. I assume that this blog is also his.

That said, I don't know shit from Shinola.

Ok

I'll treat it with respect then and assume it's Sam's. He has paid such a high price. I come to his site as a sign of support. I'm agnostic but Bless that Jew.

OMG - that's funny as hell. 3 conservative books for a dollar. What a rip off. Mary Cheney's "My turn" went for seven cents.

So Much For The Secret Ballot

If I'd known that Big Brother Sam was watching, I would have written-in a boot-licking comment about the Broadcast Seder instead of voting for Fritz.

Too late now; I'm off the Xmas/Hanukkah card list for sure.

CB

I guess someone won't be getting that chia pet.

Yes, I own this site and owned Majorityreportradio... completely apart from AAR..

Sam's Twisting Blog Knobs

It's just a guess on my part, but the time stamps and the headers and the votes and all sorts of stuff seem to have the mark of a guy rootin' around in the cybertechnical garden.

Thanks.

I needed to know Sam. You have my back.

another idea poised for takeoff...

I heard Ethan....

the 13yo on Mike Malloy last night. Great as always. One would think he would have asked Mike to get Sam on Weekdays.

He's only 13... Give him time.

ah! this is the survey thread!

wondered where my posts went!

back to the newest main page thread for me!

i voted Fritz

25% voted fritz

so in order to bolster my fragile "i am unique" ego

i hereby change my vote to:

because they're not unique like me

Somebody Broke The Blog

...My many apologies!
--------------------------------------------------------
I recall (though not in crisp detail) a Pogo character who was British-like. He said to Albert (the alligator), "A thousand pardons, guv'nah."

Albert said, "Okay. Let's have 'em."

For the next several days of cartoon panels, he was in the background awash in Pardon me's.

Okay what happened?

I can't get on the main page. I had to click on the comments list to get here.

Where are we anyway?

Oops!Don't be talking bad about me.I can really screw up things

Blame It On Sam

I continue to believe, based on the blog format weirdness that I have seen this evening, that Sam has been playing with his Blog Master Control panel. There is one switch marked, "Don't ever, ever, ever flip this switch!"

Sam stared at it for a long time. He left the room. He drank a glass of water. He came back. He stared at it some more. He looked around to see if anyone was watching.

Then he broke the blog.

28 percent.

28 percent. President Bush’s approval rating in a new Harris poll, “the lowest level of his presidency.”

Sam

Did you screw up the blog?

I thought it was mmrules post cpz that's where it stopped for me.

Jeesh! I tried everything! Even rebooted my computer and it still ended up on the comments page of mmrules with the sqaure and the red x.

Politicization of

Politicization of immigration judges exposed. ThinkProgress noted last week that the Justice Department has expanded its internal investigation of partisan hiring practices after Monica Goodling admitted that she “considered party affiliation in screening applicants to become immigration judges.” The Legal Times sheds new light on this controversial process:

Historically, those hired for the positions were vetted by the Executive Office of Immigration Review and its recommendations were forwarded to the Office of the Deputy Attorney General — where they were almost uniformly approved. Sometimes this process took place without public advertisements for the posts and without competing candidates. But in recent years, that process came to be inverted: instead the attorney general’s office exercised “direct-hire” authority in selecting a candidate who was then sent to EOIR. Rarely, if ever, did EOIR object to a candidate — even if the person lacked any background in immigration law. […]

The effort picked up speed under Gonzales’ tenure, when Goodling took over Sampson’s hiring responsibilities. If Sampson or Goodling had a suggestion, [EOIR] didn’t look for any other candidates. “In the past year, we were just asked to give the city and then we would get a name or two,” Rooney says.

Members of the immigration judiciary noticed the shift. “A lot of my colleagues in [the immigration] bar seemed to have applications pending for years without ever being interviewed while people with contacts at the White House were being appointed at warp speed,” says Bruce Einhorn, who retired as an immigration judge in Los Angeles in January.

This hiring process has since been ended, following a lawsuit by a Hispanic immigration lawyer who charged that the Justice Dept. “discriminated against her on the basis of her race and gender when it chose two white men for the vacancy.” But the legacy of Gonzales lives on.

Muckraker and emptywheel have more.

Iraq is filled with mercenaries!! Well paid Mercenaries

21,000 British mercenaries working in Iraq

by Chris in Paris · 5/30/2007 03:51:00 AM ET

That is three times the number of UK troops currently in Iraq. Just as the US has lowered the bar for recruiting, low standards are often used when recruiting mercenaries though the so-called security companies are making enormous amounts of money on this outsourcing project and the "security staff" are pulling in $1000 per day, tax free. Running a war with guns-for-hire is a strange way for democracies to win hearts and minds.

Many in the private sector have, however, expressed alarm about the types of recruits attracted by the money. Robin Horsfall, a former SAS trooper and security guard said "former soldiers are working alongside people who have been involved in nightclub security and have very limited experience. It's because a lot of contracts only demand that you can prove you have got six week's security experience".

Atlantan quarantined with deadly TB strain
CDC issues rare isolation order; air passengers warned

By ALISON YOUNG
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 05/30/07
An Atlanta-area man — infected with a rare, potentially deadly type of tuberculosis — is under federal quarantine at Grady Memorial Hospital with an armed sheriff's deputy outside his door following his odyssey on international flights, including some to smuggle himself back into the country.

The globe-trotting tale of the man, his fiancee, their wedding and honeymoon abroad — and conflicting recollections of what he was told about his disease and whether he could travel — culminated Tuesday with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issuing an international health alert.

The CDC is working with airlines to contact passengers who took two transatlantic flights — a May 12 Air France flight from Atlanta to Paris and a May 24 Czech Air flight from Prague to Montreal — to alert them that they may have been exposed to extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis.

The disease, also known as XDR TB, is difficult to treat and can cause severe illness and death. Only 49 cases of it have been identified in the United States between 1993 and 2006, according to the CDC.

"I didn't want to put anybody at risk," the Fulton County man, who declined to be identified because of the stigma attached to his diagnosis, said in a telephone interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We just wanted to come home and get treatment."

Since January the man, who said he has no symptoms and feels healthy, has met regularly for treatment with Fulton County health officials. He said they and CDC knew he had drug-resistant TB before he left the United States but did not prohibit him from leaving when he told them about his upcoming wedding in Greece.

He questioned why nobody told him to cancel his wedding before he left Atlanta — and why the CDC waited until he was on his honeymoon in Rome to order him into isolation.

Al-Qaida video threatens

Al-Qaida video threatens attacks on U.S. By ANNA JOHNSON, Associated Press Writer
2 hours, 4 minutes ago

An American member of al-Qaida warned President Bush on Tuesday to end U.S. involvement in all Muslim lands or face an attack worse than the Sept. 11 suicide assault, according to a new videotape.

Wearing a white robe and a turban, Adam Yehiye Gadahn, who also goes by the name Azzam al-Amriki, said al-Qaida would not negotiate on its demands.

"Your failure to heed our demands ... means that you and your people will ... experience things which will make you forget all about the horrors of September 11th, Afghanistan and Iraq and Virginia Tech," he said in the seven-minute video.

Gadahn, who has been charged in a U.S. treason indictment with aiding al-Qaida, spoke in English and the video carried Arabic subtitles. The video appeared on a Web site often used by Islamic militants and carried the logo of al-Qaida's media wing, as-Sahab.

Gadahn, who appeared in an al-Qaida video last September in which he called on Americans to convert to Islam, demanded that Bush remove all U.S. military and spies from Islamic countries, free all Muslims from U.S. prisons and end support for Israel. He said a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq alone would not satisify al-Qaida.

Ben Venzke at IntelCenter, a U.S. government contractor that monitors al-Qaida messages, said the group likely did not believe any of its demands would be met.

"It essentially allows al-Qaida to say that it has provided fair warning and is thus no longer responsible for the outcome," Venzke said in a statement.

Gadahn, a California native, is the first American to be charged with treason in more than 50 years and could face the death penalty if convicted. He also was indicted on a charge of providing material support to terrorists.

not being paid equally?

bingo. pay practices based on discrimination take several years to a decade to develop. its doubtful that a corporation would have different starting pays for the same position as thats too easy to nail. the previously mentioned article did say that hillary is going to introduce legislation changing the time frame.
