After Lowell George passed away a bunch of his friends,Jackson Brown,Bonnie Raitt,Emily Lou Harris,Linda Ronstad(sp?)The Tower of Power Horn Section and,more I can't remember right now Plus,the remaining band members of Little Feat held a memorial concert at the Los Angeles Forum..
To raise money for Lowell George's family..
I was there..It was a Excellent concert.. But,sad too..

The remaining members of Little feat were the back up band for everybody..
Little Feat were true musicians..Sliding into one song after another of the musical guests songs..
Like I said it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen..
And,growing up in SmelLA,I was lucky to see a lot of The Big Boys..
But,even till this day I Wish I could have seen Lowell George play with Little Feat live before He passed away..
He Was Special..

Technically, Meiko released her album in 2007 and met with tons of success - she landed at #35 for top 100 iTunes albums that year.
In June 2008 she signed with a label and her album was re-released in August where it jumped to #14 on the list. Meiko is everything Lise loves- a folk/pop female singer-songwriter that has immense talent. This girl has just begun to outshine many, and we can't wait for her next album.

I got to see Robin Ford live back in the late 70's at GIT in Beautiful Hollyweird..

Ford kicked some geetar ass..A great show with a crowd of maybe 150 people..Remember now,it was at the Guitar Institute of Technology :)

I saw robben lasr year in a 150 seater venue. he came out a little smooth jazz and just stopped and said he was't into it and then he broke out into some of the best authentic electric blues. just a twin reverb amp and a little fuzz box, very natural and sweet with just enough dirt to keep it interesting. I am not sure if his switch up was a schtick but he owned the room afterwards. The Cutting Room nyc.

Probably No schtick..The guy can play great Jazz Fusion,Jazz and Blues..

Just wish guys like him,Holdsworth,etc..would get a lot more exposure..

When you are that good as a guitar player,shit you can play anything & play it very well..

I wonder if you know of him?. he was the soloist on "mary wants to be a superwoman" stevie wonder
in the early 70's. that was when stevie played almost everything on the record except

for this amazing guitar solo. ( a big influence on robben) I am a little guitarded and live and breathe everything about guitar music. bill frisell,jim hall,pete bernstein,birelli le gren,russell malone. are people i come in contact with in my day gig life. the dinasours of rock don't come thru much anymore. BUT LOS LOBOS is coming to town soon and nobody doesn't like them live! they are as nice and real as they play.

Six Air Force Thunderbirds have just roared overhead at what felt like inches above our backstage area, giving myself and the entire E Street Band a brush cut. With 20 minutes to go, I'm sitting in my trailer trying to decide what boots to wear. I've got a nice pair of cowboy boots my feet look really good in, but I'm concerned about their stability. Two days ago we rehearsed in full rain on the field and the stage became as slick as an ice pond. It was almost impossible to stand on. It was so slick I crashed into Mike Colucci, our cameraman, coming off my knee slide, his camera the only thing that kept me from launching out onto the soggy turf. When Jerry the umpire in "Glory Days" did his bit, he came running out, couldn't stop himself and executed one of the most painfully perfect "man slips on a banana peel" falls I've ever seen. This sent Steve, myself and the entire band into one of the biggest stress-induced laughters of our lives that lasted all the way back to our trailers. (A few Advil and Jerry was okay.)

We had to move out west (LA) because I kept getting sick..
The Dr.said I would die if I didn't get out of that weather/climate..

To do studio work ya really need to be able to read music..
Unless your really exceptional..

Okay, call me crazy but I read the news today, oh boy, and it made me quite giddy. After two decades, we'll all get to hear the music from the greatest band that ever existed in a sound quality that pays justice to it.

Now, pardon me if you will this indulgence. This music means a lot to yours truly. I grew up with it and still enjoy it thoroughly. The Beatles are that rare band, just like Led Zeppelin, U2 and perhaps a few others, who's music has stood the test of time. And if your idea of great contemporary music is dull, half-assed, throwaway tripe like Nickleback, then I'm about to take you to school. And come September, after many delays attributed to differences between The Beatles' Apple Corps. and their distributor, EMI, you'll finally get the full educational treatment. Old and young fans alike will now get to experience the greatest band on the planet in a whole new way, when the original Beatles catalog, as created by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, gets the remastering treatment on CD on September 9, 2009 (9/9/09). This will be the same day as the release of the equally-ballyhooed Rock Band video game devoted to their music, and makes for one heck of a tie-in.

The grim reaper has obviously been building up his Rolodex as of late, as there has been an abundance of well-known personalities who have passed on, seemingly just in the past few weeks.

Over the holiday weekend, we marked the passing of a well-known behind-the-scenes figure, one who's impact was felt throughout the 1960s. Respected by some, he was loathed by many. In short, the guy was an absolute, destructive bastard.

No, I'm not talking about Robert McNamara.

Many gallons of ink and electrons will be spilled over the next few days about McNamara, the former Secretary of Defense under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson who is cited by many to be the architect of America's involvement in the Vietnam War. Since many other scribes will do a better job of chronicling the controversial legacy of McNamara, I have chosen another dead controversial figure to analyze. A bastard by another name, Allen Klein.

The name may be familiar to some. But the impact of Klein, who passed away on July 4 after battling Alzheimer's disease, on the world of popular music was huge. Klein's intimidating, overbearing tactics were loved by some, detested by many, and both loved and detested by perhaps even more. Pete Townsend of The Who once called him "the awesome rock-leech Godfather." In essence, he was a predator, or as John Lennon once described him, "the shark that kept the other sharks away". He was the music industry's equivalent to nasty Wall Street predators like Kirk Kerkorian and Carl Icahn.
