Post time for the Belmont is 6:25 pm Eastern and the race will be televised on ABC from 5 to 7 p.m. ESPN will provide additional coverage on the card from noon to 5 p.m.  But don't go betting until you go HERE first.  And you might need a few other things to enjoy this event, like what will you wear? Yes, they have a fashion police.

I know this looks like crazy behavior, and it really is.  So you need to dive into buckets of booze.  Real aficionado's insist there is only one way to do this properly:

SOUTHERN MINT JULEP 

4 sprigs fresh mint leaves
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 jiggers bourbon whiskey
Crush mint leaves and sugar in a 12 ounce glass. Fill with cracked or shaved ice and whiskey. Stir until glass frosts. Decorate with mint sprig.

Looks real shallow and elitist right?  Well, you aren't the only one who thinks so.

Racing horses gained popularity among the upper classes and in the early 1600s it gained the nickname the 'sport of kings', as both James I and Charles I were avid horse racing enthusiasts. This event will be going on right after the Central Gay Pride Parade and they are following the same dress code which is, "If you can't go fabulous go tacky!"  Besides, everyone knows that a proper Southern Bell makes these home spun garments out of the very same material that doubles as parlor drapes*.  So indulge yourself!

*Sofa covers apparently also acceptable.
