I wanted to express my "girl crush" on Amber Benson and her cute turn in the "Hope" Obama commercial - but I guess I will just have to keep all glowing sentiments to myself!

So .. how about a little PSA - rather than PDA??

Tornado Do's & Don'ts
You're in your house, your car, maybe your mobile home, and you've just heard a tornado warning announced for your area. What should you do now? Just as importantly, what shouldn't you do? Here are some do's and don'ts:

DOS:

—If you are already inside a structure, go to a pre-designated shelter area such as a safe room, basement, storm cellar or the lowest building level. Avoid areas near windows.

—Listen to a NOAA Weather Radio, regular radio or television for tornado updates. (Battery-powered devices are best, in case the electricity goes out.)

—Crouch as low as possible to the floor, facing down. Cover the back of your head with your hands.

—If you're in a mobile home, get out, even if it's tied down. You're probably safer outside, even if that means seeking shelter out in the open.

—If you're outside with no shelter, lie flat in a ditch or depression and cover your head with your hands. Be aware of the potential for flooding.

DON'Ts:

—Don't use your car as shelter.

—Don't open the windows in your home. You may be exposed to flying glass if you're opening windows when the twister hits.

—Don't use elevators. You could get trapped if the power is lost.

—Don't go to the southwest corner of your shelter — most tornadoes approach from the southwest.

—Don't park under an overpass. It may seem like good shelter, but it can actually be more dangerous than open ground. A wind-tunnel effect can cause higher wind speeds, driving debris toward you and even propelling you out from under the overpass.

—Don't light candles, even after the storm has passed. Ruptured gas lines can create a fire hazard so it's better to use flashlights.

The startling figure is contained in the latest audited statements of the WFP, which were endorsed by the WFP’s executive director, Josette Sheeran, on March 31, just a month before Sheeran announced at an international aid conference on April 22 that a "silent tsunami" in rising food prices demanded the huge infusion of cash for the WFP’s latest budget.

It's no coincidence that when America had the biggest middle class was when labor had the most influence.

So it will definately be an uphill climb.

I think the first things we have to do are get a livable minimum wage, nationalize healthcare, and stop the free trade exploitation and better regulate Wall Street.

The days of 'manual labor' are pretty well spent. There's computers and machines and robots, etc., and the labor force is required now to be more educated. Service industries are on the rise. You're talking about one type of job, really. And how would that really change anything, whether or not the asshole boss was elected?

Here's my thought. America is in a struggle - corporations versus government. Right now we have a leader who is pro-corporation, so they're getting everything they want. Tax incentives, monopolization, and thanks to the lower dollar, foreign corporations are having a garage sale here.

What I think America must do is to band together and each government make a pact that they will stop doing the following:

1. No more eminent domain for corporate benefit
2. No more privatization of government functions
3. No more TIF. Just shut it down altogether. They should pay taxes just like the rest of us.
4. No more bailouts, tax breaks, or any other type of corporate incentives.

This would do away with the need for lobbyists.

They have more money than our government. Their CEO's make millions more than our top government officials. They don't need government money. Our money.

I say, fuck 'em.
