URGENT: Comcast Is Censoring Political Content Again, Speak Out To Tell Comcast To Back Off Our Free Speech

Comcast, which has a history of censoring political content is STILL
abusing their monopoly power to suppress political speech. Last week
in San Francisco they REFUSED to accept the new Shirley Golub TV ad,
in her congressional primary challenge against Nancy Pelosi.

Apparently they did not take kindly to Golub's comparison of the
political behavior of the current Speaker of the House to a rubber
chicken, for her cowardice in not standing up to the Bush
administration. But that's not their call, and in the meantime the 3
major non-cable broadcast outlets ARE running the ad and they all
think it's a delightful hoot.

The real problem is that Shirley wanted to place these ads
specifically to support Keith Olbermann on MSNBC cable, and Comcast
by their action is making it immensely harder for her to mobilize
those who are Olbermann's viewers, her natural base. It is simply
outrageous for Comcast to refuse to air perfectly acceptable
political speech because THEY don't like the content. We must flood
them with complaints, or Olbermann himself, with his own
uncompromising commentary, may not be far behind.

I heard a new speculation for why she is still in it.

She can easily win in Kentucky and West Virginia. Oregon's vote will take a week to tally b/c it's mail in. She can either exit on a high note after a few more dollars come in to help pay off her debt. OR.... She is pressing on to the convention, not as the presumptive nominee but to force the convention to accept mandatory universal health care platform be on the ticket, achieving her one main objective.

I consider both of those notions as romantic, and prefer the earlier one. I don't believe mandatory requirements should be forced on adults but that we do have a responsibility to the children. If it's going to be mandatory, then the only way to do it right is with single payer.

She simply feels entitled to the White House.

In case you’ve been too consumed by the Democratic race to notice, Republicans are getting crushed in historic ways both at the polls and in the polls.

At the polls, it has been a massacre. In recent weeks, Republicans have lost a Louisiana House seat they had held for more than two decades and an Illinois House seat they had held for more than three. Internal polls show that next week they could lose a Mississippi House seat that they have held for 13 years.

In the polls, they are setting records (and not the good kind). The most recent Gallup Poll has 67 percent of voters disapproving of President Bush; those numbers are worse than Richard Nixon’s on the eve of his resignation. A CBS News poll taken at the end of April found only 33 percent of Americans have a favorable view of the GOP — the lowest since CBS started asking the question more than two decades ago. By comparison, 52 percent of the public has a favorable view of the Democratic Party.

Things are so bad that many people don’t even want to call themselves Republicans. The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has found the lowest percentage of self-described Republicans in 16 years of polling.

“The anti-Republican mood is fairly big, and it has been overwhelming,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis.

The IRS is investigating the United Church of Christ over a speech Sen. Barack Obama gave at its national meeting last year after he became a candidate for president, the denomination said Tuesday.

In a letter the denomination received Monday, the IRS said "reasonable belief exists" that the circumstances surrounding the speech violated restrictions on political activity for tax-exempt organizations. The denomination has denied any wrongdoing.

Obama, a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, spoke about faith and public life at the denomination's June 2007 General Synod in Hartford, Conn.

The IRS said in the letter that it was concerned about articles posted on the church's Web site and on other sites stating that Obama had addressed nearly 10,000 people at the event. The agency also said Obama volunteers had staffed campaign tables "outside the center to promote his campaign."

What a sad day! I want to cry that I'm to lose- even for a short time one of the last holdouts of the vast left wing media. Sam You rock ! I know you will be back. If Pacifica came back when the rightest regime infiltrated the WBAI NY studio's and locked everyone out. Amy Goodman is back bigger than ever, but the station was gutted financially and a lot of their equipment was trashed or stolen. That was timed just right for the Bush inaugural. But they were smarter than all the think tanks in the land, and won the lawsuit to get back in.

What a sad day! I want to cry that I'm to lose- even for a short time one of the last holdouts of the vast left wing media. Sam You rock ! I know you will be back. If Pacifica came back when the rightest regime infiltrated the WBAI NY studio's and locked everyone out. Amy Goodman is back bigger than ever, but the station was gutted financially and a lot of their equipment was trashed or stolen. That was timed just right for the Bush inaugural. But they were smarter than all the think tanks in the land, and won the lawsuit to get back in.
