New To Talk Radio

I'm new to the whole talk radio world. I'm also new to blogs such as crooksandliars.com and thehuffingtonpost.com. I am a white male from Texas, 26 years old, manufacturing plant employee, and a single father. So I don't even know what kind of demographic I'm considered to be.

I began my journey into talk radio by downloading Bill Maher's Real Time podcasts, and noticed that other subscribers also subscribed to several Air America podcasts.

Anyways, it is my opinion that AAR should sign Sam on to the Randi Rhodes spot.

Although I am new the the world of talk radio, I've been listening for about two months now, and of all the talk hosts I've heard Sam is my favorite. I have gotten so wrapped in talk radio that I now listen to Rachel Maddow, Thom Hartmann, and Chuck D while I'm at work instead of the music that I have on my newly purchased $250 iPOD, which I bought for the sole purpose of listening to music at work. I listen to all of the talk shows via podcast, because I don't get liberal AM talk stations in my area, and I don't work with a computer that grant me the ability listen to shows streaming live.

Anyways, I'm new to all of this and would like to know how to have my voice heard that I would like to hear a Sam Seder show more than once a week. Also, what other sources of information should I check out.

I usually just watch MSNBC, and CNN. But I've gotten so fed up with the corporate run news media, that it makes me sick.

Welcome TEX!

thanks for the support!

You can find a petition to get Sam on the air at:
http://samsedershow.com/node/2926

and you can email pcollins @ airamerica.com and let him know.

But welcome to Sam's site. You can get all of Sam's podcasts for his Sunday show at:

Tex some suggestions

Funnily enough Tex most of the best stuff i could recommend for a beginner is some archived stuff from Marc Maron's 2 old shows and Sam Seder's 'Majority report' and 'Weekly show'. Obviously you need to listen to their current programing but you can find old mp3 podcasts just to catch up and listen at your own leisure.

You should also try to brush up on some Right Wing talkers. Its good to hear a plurality of talkers, their stylistic differences, what they choose to cover (and not to cover) is usually very telling. You'll be able to pick up all the tricks each of them use. You'd be hard pressed to find a more entertaining and purely funny show than Sam's and Marc's though.

I would suggest you listen to Hugh Hewitt and Mark Levin from the Right, only because their archived stuff is easy to get. I'll recommend more with links at some point in the future.

i'm not beyond shameless self-promotion. visit punditfight.com to see Sam battle it out with the rest of the pundits. left and right!

Congrats, Tex!

Thanks for posting this, man.

Sounds to me like you are getting a terrific start.

Don't worry too much about your 'demographic'. It's slightly above your bellybutton. It appears you are thinking for yourself and that's great!

I believe you have great taste in radio so far. I would only add that you can follow up on books (or audio books) that are touted by authors interviewed by those same talk show hosts.

For a single instance, I bought the audio book of Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine" after I heard her interview with Sam on one of his earlier book shows. Works nice on that iPod!

Cheers!

Welcome Lone Star leeberal ! !

the Sederites are a great bunch. I'm relatively new, too. (not to AirAmerica or talkRadio, but to the blogosphere and the web video streams)
Definitely don't miss any of Sam & Marc Maron as mentioned above. I am trying to find time to listen to the their old shows myself. Check out www.TheYoungTurks.com, and a couple of your fellow Texans : Jim Hightower & Kinky Friedman.
