Clinton campaign starts 5-point attack on Obama

Clinton campaign starts 5-point attack on Obama
By Patrick Healy and Julie Bosman Published: February 26, 2008

After struggling for months to dent Senator Barack Obama's candidacy, the campaign of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is now unleashing what one Clinton aide called a "kitchen sink" fusillade against Obama, pursuing five lines of attack since Saturday in hopes of stopping his political momentum.

The effort underscores not only Clinton's recognition that the next round of primaries — in Ohio and Texas on March 4 — are must-win contests for her. It also reflects her advisers' belief that they can persuade many undecided voters to embrace her at the last minute by finally drawing sharply worded, attention-grabbing contrasts with Obama.

After denouncing Obama over the weekend for an anti-Clinton flier about the Nafta trade treaty, and then sarcastically portraying his message of hope Sunday as naïve, Clinton delivered a blistering speech on Monday that compared Obama's lack of foreign policy experience to that of the candidate George W. Bush.

"We've seen the tragic result of having a president who had neither the experience nor the wisdom to manage our foreign policy and safeguard our national security," Clinton said in a speech on foreign policy at George Washington University. "We can't let that happen again."

With a crucial debate on Tuesday night in Ohio, both Clinton's advisers and independent political analysts said that, by going negative against Obama at a time when polls in Texas and Ohio show a tightening race, Clinton risked alienating voters. Clinton has always been more popular with voters when she appeared sympathetic and a fighter; her hard-edged instinct for negative politics has usually turned off the public.

"There's a general rule in politics: A legitimate distinction which could be effective when drawn early in the campaign often backfires and could seem desperate when it happens in the final hours of a campaign," said Steve McMahon, a Democratic strategist working for neither candidate.

In Clinton's speech Monday, she also portrayed herself as "tested and ready" to be commander in chief, while accusing Obama of believing "that mediation and meetings without preconditions will solve some of the world's most intractable problems." Obama has said he would go further than Clinton to meet with leaders of hostile nations, but he has also said he would prepare for those meetings carefully and would not be blind to the leaders' motives.

On another matter, Clinton's aides criticized Obama on Monday for not distancing himself from outside groups running advertisements that promote his candidacy, a practice that Obama has sometimes criticized. But the attack that received the most pop, on cable television and blogs, came after a photograph of Obama in ceremonial African garb appeared on the Drudge Report, and the item's author, Matt Drudge, claimed that the image was provided by a Clinton staff member.

Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe, said that the Clinton campaign had "engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we've seen from either party." It has not been independently verified that the photograph came from the Clinton campaign.

Clinton's new campaign manager, Maggie Williams, recently appointed to bring a tougher hand to the operation, issued a withering reply, not taking responsibility for the photograph but attacking the Obama campaign for suggesting that the photograph amounted to fear-mongering imagery.

"Enough," Williams's statement began. "If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely."

"This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry," she added. "We will not be distracted."

Clinton advisers said on Monday that the attacks were partly an effort to knock Obama off balance before the debate on Tuesday.

They also said they were also sending a signal to supporters and donors that Clinton was still resolutely fighting to win the presidential nomination, despite news reports in recent days about her dispirited campaign operation and her own somber outlook on the race.

To bolster her case at the George Washington speech, Clinton stood on stage with a half-dozen retired military officials, including General Wesley Clark, who introduced her. "I'm convinced that when the going gets tough, Hillary Clinton will never let America down," Clark said.

Clinton pointed to her time in the Senate and in the White House as the first lady as evidence that she was the candidate who was most knowledgeable and prepared for the presidency.

"Electing a president should not be an either-or proposition when it comes to national security," she said. "We need a president who knows how to deploy both the olive branch and the arrows, who will be ready to act swiftly and decisively in a crisis."

The sharpened tone reflected a vacillating style that had her reflective about her political fate at the end of last Thursday's debate in Texas, and offering an apology of sorts for Bill Clinton's comments in South Carolina several weeks ago that many people viewed as racially insensitive.

By contrast, at a fund-raiser Sunday night in Boston, Clinton told supporters that in the coming days, she planned to highlight what she called "the experience gap" between her and Obama.

Indeed, her advisers said Monday that she planned to hit this theme during the candidates' Tuesday debate, though they said she would try to avoid making harsh personal attacks on Obama, particularly since Clinton drew widespread attention and praise at the debate last week for saying she was "honored" to be on the same stage with him.

No less an authority figure than Karl Rove has warned Republican operatives from demagoguing Barack Obama's middle name.

At a closed door meeting of GOP state executive directors in late January, Rove said the safest way to refer to Obama would be to use his honorific, "Sen. Obama."

"The context was, you're not going to stimatize this guy. You shouldn't underestimate him," one of the executive directors said. Rove said that the use of "Barack Hussein Obama" would perpetuate the notion that Republicans were bigoted and would hurt the party.

Rove also said that Republicans should refer to Hillary Clinton as "Sen. Clinton," rather than "Hillary."

After 9 recorded phone calls from Clinton in the last week

Turkey says no timetable for Iraq pullout

Wed Feb 27, 2008 2:31pm EST

By Ahmed Rasheed and Mariam Karouny

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Turkey said on Wednesday it had "no timetable" to withdraw troops fighting Kurdish guerrillas in northern Iraq, resisting pressure from the United States and other allies to end the offensive quickly.

Thousands of Turkish troops crossed the border last Thursday to root out PKK fighters. The PKK has used remote mountainous northern Iraq as a base in their armed campaign for self-rule in the mainly Kurdish southeast of Turkey.

"Our objective is clear, our mission is clear and there is no timetable until ... those terrorist bases are eliminated," Turkish envoy Ahmet Davutoglu told a news conference after talks in Baghdad with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari.

Red state senator endorses Obama, citing broad appeal

Sen. Barack Obama picked up an endorsement from his colleague Byron Dorgan, a North Dakota senator whose record of supporting labor and opposition to NAFTA could help Obama in Tuesday's Ohio Democratic primary.

Dorgan announced his support in a Wednesday afternoon conference call, where he praised Obama's record on trade and labor and called Obama the best chance for Democrats to expand their appeal across the country.

"Obama has done well in red states, bringing new people into this campaign," Dorgan said. "One reason we've lost so many states is because candidates have given up on these states before the campaign begins. Sen. Obama is not going to do that."

Dorgan is the 10th senator to endorse Obama, following former presidential candidate Chris Dodd giving Obama his support Tuesday. Clinton has been endorsed by 13 senators, while 24 Democrats in the chamber are still on the sidelines of the presidential race.

Although North Dakota's other senator, Kent Conrad, and its lone representative, Earl Pomeroy, also are Democrats, the state has not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since Lyndon Johnson in 1964, Dorgan said. He noted that the only other Democratic president the state supported was Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who served from 1933 to 1945. The two most recent Democratic contenders, John Kerry and Al Gore, lost the state by 30 and 28 points, he said.

9/11 Redux: 'Thousands of Aliens' in U.S. Flight Schools Illegally
Former FAA Inspector: TSA's Enforcement of Post-9/11 Laws 'Basically Nonexistent'
By BRIAN ROSS, VIC WALTER and ERIC LONGABARDI

Feb. 27, 2008—

Thousands of foreign student pilots have been able to enroll and obtain pilot licenses from U.S. flight schools, despite tough laws passed in the wake of the 9/ll attacks, according to internal government documents obtained by ABC News.

"Some of the very same conditions that allowed the 9-11 tragedy to happen in the first place are still very much in existence today," wrote one regional security official to his boss at the TSA, the Transportation Security Administration.

"Thousands of aliens, some of whom may very well pose a threat to this country, are taking flight lessons, being granted FAA certifications and are flying planes," wrote the TSA official, Richard A. Horn, in 2005, complaining that the students did not have the proper visas.

Under the new laws, American flight schools are only supposed to provide pilot training to foreign students who have been given a background check by the TSA and have a specific type of visa.

But in thousands of cases that has not happened, according to the documents and current and former government officials involved in the program.

"TSA's enforcement is basically nonexistent," said former FAA inspector Bill McNease, in an interview for ABC News' "World News With Charles Gibson."

ACLU calls out US over 'absurd bloating' of terror watch list

More that 900,000 people are currently listed as suspected terrorists on the US government's "do not fly" list, and that number will grow to beyond 1 million by summer, says the American Civil Liberties Union.

"If there were a million terrorists in this country, our cities would be in ruins," Barry Steinhardt, director of the ACLU's Technology and Liberty Program, stated in a press release from the group. "The absurd bloating of the terrorist watch lists is yet another example of how incompetence by our security apparatus threatens our rights without offering any real security."

The ACLU has launched a new Web site to track the growth of the watch list, which it says includes thousands of innocent Americans, including prominent politicians and authors as well as people with common names.

The group says its count is "extrapolated from a September 2007 report by the Inspector General of the Department of Justice, which reported that the Terrorist Screening Center had over 700,000 names in its database as of April 2007, and that the list was growing by an average of over 20,000 records per month." As of Wednesday afternoon, the ACLU said there were about 917,500 names on the list.

Britain Told to Release

Britain Told to Release Blair Cabinet's Minutes
Notes May Clarify Debate on Iraq Invasion

By Kevin Sullivan
Washington Post Foreign Service
Wednesday, February 27, 2008; A10

LONDON, Feb. 26 -- A British official on Tuesday ordered the government to release minutes from two meetings of then-Prime Minister Tony Blair's cabinet in March 2003, saying they could shed light on "uncertainties and controversies" surrounding Britain's decision to join the United States in the invasion of Iraq.

"There is a widespread view that the justification for the decision on military action in Iraq is either not fully understood or that the public were not given the full or genuine reasons for that decision," Information Commissioner Richard Thomas said in his ruling on a request made under the Freedom of Information Act.

The case illustrates how sensitive the Iraq war remains five years after the invasion. The war is extremely unpopular in Britain and was a key factor in Blair's departure after a decade in office. Many people in Britain remain skeptical and suspicious about the government's motivations for becoming the Bush administration's chief ally in Iraq.

Thomas rejected government arguments that the minutes should be exempt from public release because they deal with the formulation of public policy and ministerial communications. The Cabinet Office had argued to him that public disclosure of minutes would inhibit free and candid debate about sensitive issues in future cabinet sessions.

Thomas, who was allowed to inspect the minutes as part of his deliberations, said that while he respected the government's position, "arguments for the withholding of the information are outweighed by the public interest in its disclosure."

The information commissioner's ruling is binding, but the government has 28 days to appeal. A spokesman for the Cabinet Office said officials were reviewing the decision.

"The requirements of openness and transparency must be balanced against the proper and effective functioning of government," the Cabinet Office said in a statement Tuesday.

Report: Lewis to endorse Obama 2 hours, 4 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Civil rights leader John Lewis has dropped his support for Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential bid in favor of Barack Obama, according to a newspaper report Wednesday.

Lewis, a Democratic congressman from Atlanta, is the most prominent black leader to defect from Clinton's campaign in the face of near-majority black support for Obama in recent voting. He also is a superdelegate who gets a vote at this summer's national convention in Denver.

"It's been a long, hard difficult struggle to come to where I am," Lewis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an interview. "But when I am, as a superdelegate, I plan to cast my vote at the convention for Barack Obama."

Lewis' constituents supported Obama roughly 3-to-1 in Georgia's Feb. 5 primary. His endorsement had been a coveted prize among the Democratic candidates thanks to his standing as one of the last major civil rights leaders of the 1960s.

OH-10: Kucinich Looks Safe For Re-election
by: Chris Bowers
Wed Feb 27, 2008 at 13:52
I am relieved to report that Kucinich appears safe for re-election in OH-10, according to a new survey from Public Policy Polling:

Kucinich does though appear safe to ward off the challenge he is facing from four challengers in the Democratic primary. Kucinich is currently at 55%, followed by Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman at 29%. The other three candidates register at 5% or lower.(...)

While self identified Democrats intend to reelect Kucinich by a wide margin (59-26), Republicans and independents who are planning to vote in the Democratic primary are not as enamored with him. He trails Cimperman 45-34 with independent voters and has just a 45-35 advantage with Republican voters.

PPP surveyed 470 likely Democratic primary voters on February 25th. The survey's margin of errors is +/-4.7%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

Defeating an incumbent in a primary is just about the most difficult electoral challenge someone can undertake. Kucinich put himself in a potentially vulnerable position by spending so much time running for President, and by using his national small donor base to focus almost entirely on his Presidential campaign. If he was defeated, it would have damaged much of the momentum progressives earned from the Donna Edwards victory, but that does not appear to be a big worry now.

While this wasn't the campaign to become involved with, given the corporate and Republican money Cimperman was raising against Kucinich, at some point it is probably a good idea for the blogosphere to become involved in a primary challenge against a member of the progressive caucus. So far, from what I can tell, the Edwards victory is having much more of an impact on the Congressional Black Caucus than it is on the wider House caucus. It might be necessary to defeat a member from every caucus, such as Ed Fallon defeating Blue Dog Leonard Boswell, in order for these primary challenges to create the desired behavioral change among congressional Democrats. And every caucus means Blue Dogs, New Dems, Progressives, the CBC, and the Hispanic caucus.

BOB26003 - Detailed help on IM'ing Sam

Now that you have an AOL name, you need to open your AOL messenger which comes with AOL or if you have AIM which is the messenger system by itself.
Once you open that, Click on EDIT and then ADD BUDDY, then add SAMSEDERSHOW as a buddy.
THen, click on SAMSEDERSHOW which will be listed on your buddy list in the messenger window.
Then click with your right mouse button on that same SAMSEDERSHOW listed in your buddy list which will give you a pop up window - in the pop up window there is an option for IM. Click on the IM option and an IM window will pop up.
In the IM window, on the bottom is the area for you to type in a message to Sam. Type in your message and click on SEND or just hit the ENTER button.
Sam will answer you verbally - he does not have the ability or time to write back, nor does he add most people to his buddy list because it would be HUGE.

Hope this helps.

the whole world is the enemy

Afghan journalist for CTV labelled 'unlawful enemy combatant'

The U.S. military has designated a journalist employed by CTV in Afghanistan as an unlawful enemy combatant.

A military spokesman told the Associated Press that a review board has determined Jawed Ahmad, an Afghan national, is a danger to foreign troops and the Afghan government.

Ahmad has been held for the last four months at the U.S. military compound in Bagram, 50 kilometres north of the capital, Kabul. U.S. officials alleged he had Taliban phone numbers and videos in his possession when he was picked up.

Maj. Chris Belcher, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition, says Ahmad was given an opportunity to provide a statement to the military's enemy combatant review board.

Belcher did not say when the review took place or whether Ahmad was represented by counsel.

Belcher also refused to provide details about what he called "credible information" against Ahmad. Nor would he say whether the military believed Ahmad had any more contact with the Taliban than other journalists working in Afghanistan.

It is common for journalists in Afghanistan to have contact information on Taliban fighters so that they can seek comments for news stories.

HI there Dan
Thanks for the advice, and we have already set that into the plans from day 1. My builder is a tech nut, so I will have the next generation stuff in before everyone else has it as well. And of course the entire house will be wired for wireless access inside and out.
BUT - imagine what 10 ft ceilings will be like in the basement???? It will be finished eventually because it is really part of the living space due to the slope of the lot, and design of the house. So, it is going to be amazing. And then 9ft ceilings on the first floor with the living room having only a 1/2 ceiling allowing for a skylight, and then the 2nd floor has 8 ft ceilings. And all doors are almost 7 ft standard. I am already short - so it will be like living in a giant's house. LOL

The Hippocratic Oath Dies in Gitmo
By H. Candace Gorman

The dungeon masters at Guantanamo moved Al-Ghizzawi to Camp 6, a supermax facility where prisoners are kept in isolation.

I have been representing Abdul Al-Ghizzawi, one of my Guantánamo clients, for two and a half years. The day I took on his case, I knew little about him other than he was seriously ill. My goal from that day forward has been to ascertain what is wrong with Al-Ghizzawi and get him the medical care he needs.

In the fall of 2006, Dr. Jürg Reichen, a respected liver specialist at the University of Bern in Switzerland, filed an affidavit in which he testified that, based on the symptoms described by Al-Ghizzawi and based on my own observations of Al-Ghizzawi, it seemed likely that he was suffering from hepatitis B and perhaps liver cancer. Reichen would have been able to make a more conclusive diagnosis with my client’s medical records, but the government has refused to turn them over.

Exhibit C

Even those supreme perpetrators of pop nihilism, *The New York Times*
and *The Washington Post,* have a better ratio than the psychological
literature. They average only 12 negative stories to every one that might
be construed to be non-negative. Most other daily newspapers maintain a
similar proportion.

Many of their non-negative stories, however, cover success in two specific
fields: finance and sports. For example: NASDAQ is up today; the Atlanta
Braves won their eighth straight game. Remove these feel-good stories
from the equation, and the media's Curse Quotient rises closer to that of
the psychological literature.

Exhibit D

In his book, *Omens of Millennium,* Harold Bloom hints at the "reductive
fallacy" that serves as a shibboleth for intellectuals. Picture yourself, he says, in conversation with a bright, literate acquaintance who asks you
about someone you know well: "Tell me what he or she is really like." You
reflect a moment and give a brief description of your impressions, but
your acquaintance isn't satisfied: "No, I mean really like." And now you
grasp the actual question: "What is the very worst thing you can say
about him or her that is true?"

Hey Bart!

Debating Norman Finkelstein

By Alan Dershowitz
Frank Menetrez, in "The Case Against Alan Dershowitz" on the CounterPunch website, absurdly repeats the politically motivated and false charge that I committed plagiarism by quoting Mark Twain and citing to the original Mark Twain book The Innocents Abroad, when, as he falsely claims, I found that quote in Joan Peters' 1984 book From Time Immemorial.

The actual facts are as follows: I have been quoting the Mark Twain reference since 1970, when I found it in preparing for a PBS program called The Advocates. I placed the quote on a blue card that I had with me during the debate. I subsequently used the card in several debates that I had during the nineteen seventies and eighties. This fact has been confirmed in writing by a producer of the PBS show, as well as by other witnesses. I have owned for many decades an 1871 edition of the Mark Twain book, which is marked in my handwriting at the point of the quotation. I believe that I originally found a reference to the quote in a pro-Israel pamphlet published by The Near East Report. I have in my library a copy of one such pamphlet with the page on which the Mark Twain quote appears bent over with two pencil marks pointing to the quote itself. This pamphlet was published prior to the publication of the Peters book. It is clear, therefore, that I did not and could not have first come upon the Twain quote in the Peters book (though I obviously read it there again). It would have been dishonest and absurd for me to have cited the Peters book, when I owned and read the quote in the original Twain book and in other works published before the Peters book. Nor was it proper to cite it to a pamphlet which is not generally available in libraries. The appropriate citation, according to The Chicago Manual of Style and other standard works, is to the original, which is precisely what I did.

It is crystal clear to any objective reader that this entire dispute about my citation of the widely-quoted Twain passage is politically motivated and directed against me because I have written books in support of Israel. Professors Stephen M. Walt and John J. Mearsheimer repeatedly cited primary sources without checking the original and without citing the secondary source where they actually found the quotation. I proved this in my response to the original online version of their screed against the Israel Lobby. (1) Yet nobody accused Walt and Mearsheimer of plagiarism, for the simple reason that what they did is not plagiarism by any reasonable definition of that term. It reflects, at worst, some sloppiness in citation form. It is not plagiarism, even when the author never checked the primary source against the secondary source in which he first found the quote, as Walt and Mearsheimer failed to do. It is certainly not plagiarism when the author found and used the quoted material years before the secondary source was even published, as is the situation with me.

Harvard was fully aware of the details of the phony plagiarism charge when they investigated it, because I provided them with the allegations and because The Harvard Crimson reported on it in detail. (2)

The entire thrust of Menetrez's politically motivated charge is disproved by documented facts.

www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/2/26/124255/527

An offshoot of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, an organization that until a few days ago listed among its board of advisors Donna Brazile, Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), Rep. Jim Marshall (D-GA), Zell Miller, Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-NY). Engel, Schumer and Brazile have all resigned form the board, with Brazile making this statement:

  • As a member of the Board of Advisors of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, I strongly condemn their misleading and reckless ad campaign. The organization is using fear mongering for political purposes and worse, their scare tactics have the effect of emboldening terrorists and our enemies abroad by asserting our intelligence agencies are failing to do their job. I am deeply disappointed they would use my name since no one has consulted me about the activities of the group in years.... Unfortunately, due to the influence of their funders, in the last few years, FDD has morphed into a radical right wing organization that is doing the dirty work for the Bush Administration and Congressional Republicans. I have made it clear to the organization that these types of lies undercut our national security and serve only to divide us. Furthermore, I reiterated to FDD that I no longer wish to be affiliated with such a group and have asked them to remove my name from the Board. In this post 9/11 world, Americans should not be attacking other Americans, we should be standing together to make this country safer and stronger against the real threat of terrorism.

There's another board member listed at FDD as "Distinguished Advisor" who hasn't resigned as a result of these false attacks. Three guesses who that would be. Yup, our old buddy Joe Lieberman.

Namibian origins of the holocaust

Not to be viewed by the fainthearted or easily enraged. However, I came across this documentary online and thought that it was too important not to share around.

This is a BBC 4 documentary from 2004, which outlines the Namibian (then German Southwest African) origins of the holocaust in the genocide of the Herero and Nama people.

It also clearly outlines the actors in German colonial Africa and the Second Reich, who would obtain prominent positions in the Nazi party in the Third Reich, such as Franz Ritter von Epp.

It also shows the origins of land problem in Namibia, but it could just as easily be applied to Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, etc.

Which Is Worse, Support From Farrakhan Or Hagee? Tough Call.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/Story?id=4356093&page=1

...McCain's Evangelical Support

Hagee cited McCain's support of Israel and his opposition to legal abortion as reasons why he was backing him.

The pastor is best known in some Washington circles as a founder of Christians United for Israel and for his belief, as laid out in his book "Jerusalem Countdown" that the end of days scenario as spelled out in the Book of Revelation will occur after Russia, allied with the Islamic world, attacks Israel.

"Russia is going to get in that position and they are literally, with all that massive military force, going to attack Israel," Hagee told ABC News in 2006. "This is recorded in Ezekiel 38 and 39. God himself is literally going to destroy that army. Decimate it."

Hagee added that the confrontation would be followed by a Chinese army of 200 million coming to the city of Armageddon, where they will meet British and U.S. forces in the Battle of Armageddon.

"At that point, Jesus Christ returns to Earth and sets up his eternal kingdom in the city of Jerusalem and there's 1000 years of peace," Hagee said. "The Jewish people are going to see the supernatural hand of God preserve them and deliver them while the enemies of Israel are crushed. That's the end-time story."

Asked if he subscribed to this theology, McCain furrowed his brow.

"All I can tell you is I'm proud to have Pastor Hagee's support," he said...

Exhibit E

Thousands of amazing, inexplicable, wondrous, and even supernatural
events occur every day. And yet most are unreported by the media. The
few that are cited are ridiculed. Why? Here's one possible reason: The
people most likely to believe in miracles are superstitious, uneducated,
and prone to having a blind, literalist faith in their religions' myths.

Those who are least likely to believe in miracles are skilled at analytical thought, well-educated, and yet prone to having a blind, literalist faith in the ideology of materialism, which dogmatically asserts that the universe consists entirely of things that can be perceived by the five human senses or detected by instruments that scientists have thus far invented.

The media is largely composed of people from the second group. It's
virtually impossible for them to admit to the possibility of miracles, let
alone experience them. If anyone from this group manages to escape peer
pressure and cultivate a receptivity to miracles, it's because they have
successfully fought against being demoralized by the unsophisticated way
miracles are framed by the first group.

At the Beauty and Truth Laboratory we're immune to the double-barreled
ignorance. When we behold astonishing synchronicities and numinous
breakthroughs that seem to violate natural law, we're willing to consider
the possibility that our understanding of natural law is too narrow. And
yet we also refrain from lapsing into irrational gullibility; we actively seek mundane explanations for apparent miracles.

This bloggie seems crazier than usual this afternoon!

I don't know if people are coming down with some disease or if the raging hate is just boiling over into frothing in the blog but this bloggie seems crazier than usual this afternoon.

Relax...

Chill Out...

Take A Lot Of Deep Breath's...

Remember, less than 11 months of the Dry Drunk Dubya in office. Now that is a big reason for hope.

Sure Obama is very idealistic, has flaws and he sure isn't a messiah or worthy of cultlike status but if he wins he sure will change the rest of the world's attitude toward the United States. So far he is better than the rest but hidden factors will make it a very tight race for him to become President.

It's all bullshit!

Business as usual. Go USA.

Is Obama playing the race card? Yikes! I have to deal with this

Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 17:14 EST

Is Obama playing the race card?

In a scathing article in "The New Republic," Sean Wilentz, a Princeton history professor, argues that everything you thought you knew about the 2008 Democratic presidential campaign and racial politics is wrong. Wilentz, a supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, charges that it wasn't Clinton, but rather Sen. Barack Obama who deliberately made race an issue in the campaign. He also alleges that the media's blind love for Obama has led it to portray innocuous actions by the Clinton campaign, such as Bill Clinton's comments about Jesse Jackson in South Carolina, Hillary Clinton's statement about Lyndon B. Johnson and Martin Luther King, as race-baiting behavior.

"The Obama campaign's most effective gambits have been far more egregious and dangerous than the hypocritical deployment of deceptive and disingenuous attack ads," writes Wilentz. "To a large degree, the campaign's strategists turned the primary and caucus race to their advantage when they deliberately, falsely, and successfully portrayed Clinton and her campaign as unscrupulous race-baiters -- a campaign-within-the-campaign in which the worked-up flap over the Somali costume photograph is but the latest episode. While promoting Obama as a 'post-racial' figure, his campaign has purposefully polluted the contest with a new strain of what historically has been the most toxic poison in American politics."

Now this freaking story in Salon.com:

It Must Just Tear Bill Clinton Up

~~~~~~~~~~~
I wonder what's going on in Bill Clinton's mind as
he watches the campaign unfold???
Seriously....
I bet anything, it's this:
- GMMB -
A political consulting firm...
The same one he had hired to run
his successful, come-from-behind,
presidential campaign.
These were the strategists behind the scenes.
So why now do they vex Mr. Bill?
Because this time...
They work for Obama... that's why.
"Mark Penn is certainly no GMMD!!!"
I'll guarantee that's what Bill's thinking....
Panetta's Lament: They Had No Plan
LINK
by Niall Stanage | February 26, 2008
The argument that the constant carping about Hillary Clinton’s campaign has been a function of an Obama-friendly, process-obsessed media is well and good. But how, then, to explain the deeply held dissatisfaction of an old Clinton loyalist like Leon Panetta?
In an interview with The Observer, Mr. Panetta compared Mrs. Clinton’s top strategist, Mark Penn, to Karl Rove, suggested that the Clinton campaign had totally underestimated Barack Obama’s appeal, and complained about the overall lack of planning that he said had characterized the former First Lady’s bid to return to the White House.
I'm not sure when McCain officially rejected and denounced Maggiesboy's penis...But I imagine it would have been after he was released from POW camp. that would have been in the mid-seventies, so the move would have polled well with feminist voters.
Well, now that it's been denounced and rejected..
you'll never know what he wrote on it, unless of course Marcia answers my call and comes over later. Then you can read all about it.
Sweater Girl Glamour 1950s
Brand names like Maidenform, Berlei, Triumph and the British Marks & Spencer bras under the St. Michael label, all sold excellent bras that gave the correct pointed, circular stitched, conical shape of the era.
The conical bra was the 1950s bra that gave the support silhouette for girls who longed to emulate the curves of film star sweater girls like Lana Turner and Jane Russell famous for the cantilever bra. Bras began to be revolutionized by the use of nylon, making them lighter, prettier and easier to wash. The pointed pre formed conically stitched bra was actually a fashion accessory, as without one, the sweater girl look was certainly not complete.
McCain Jokes
Letterman has been doing a continuing series of McCain (old guy) jokes: John McCain looks like the guy [fill in the blank].
A recent joke was:
John McCain looks like the guy in the nursing home who's complaining that the nurse is stealing his stuff. "Calm down Dad, why would she steal one pair of your socks?"
btw..since I saw that picture...
... it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! No longer denounced and rejected, now it's back to projected.
This will make it a 42 year long erection. A condition known as priminity.
Beatniks
Beatniks
As the trend for a beatnik look developed, oversized chunky long sweaters with huge cowl collars were worn over slim fitting pencil skirts or slacks with stirrups. The girls usually had a French pleat hairstyle or showed the start of a beehive. Wearing all black was a favourite choice for beatniks.
This is interesting. Alexander Cockburn wrote that the 2008 Clinton Campaign reminded him of Ted Kennedy's 1980 bid for the Democratic nomination. A creaky old relic from the 1960s, or something.
