SederOnSundays please choose one which describes your listening habits relative to AAR..

Yours

is the only AAR show I can listen to anymore. I would catch Randi or Rachel if they were on the morning slot that is going to reruns.

USER NAV

I Tune into Randi Only If

Sam Seder is substituting for her.

I tune in everyday

I stream and I also listen to the local station.

KPHX

I stream it when Im @ work & @ home.

Are they AAR??
I think they are - not 100% certain though.

Missing Air America version 1.0

I only make it a point to listen to Rachel Maddow on the weekdays - sometimes I tune in earlier and catch a little bit of Randi.

I sometimes catch a little bit of the Turks if I'm in the car that early in the day and not in the mood for music. I have XM so there's a lot competing for my time.

Seder on Sundays is a great show - but it was even better when it was daily. I do try and catch it every week or listen to the podcast. Especially if it was a live show. The pretaped shows don't do much for me.

Funny, it wasn't long ago when I would tune in pretty much ALL day. With Maron in the morning kicking things off. Franken at noon. Majority Report in the evenings. I'd find myself listening to Randi more often when she was surrounded by all these great shows. Hopefully some day Air America will be the great radio station it once was.

Once San Diego's station died...

I listen to NovaM--Farias, Malloy--and Sammy on stream. Oh, well, I have to stream all of them. Our local Stacy Taylor is back on a station I can barely get, and the stream buffers, but there you are. As soon as my DSL is hooked up (keeps getting delayed for numerous reasons), I'll also listen to Seder v. Maron. Otherwise, it's NPR and C2C. I depend on blogs like this for actual news when I can't surf on my own. Would you believe my new puter's keyboard has already crapped out? Sheesh. Gonna have to deal w/a replacement or something. Still can't figure out how to save my 3 billion bookmarks (FireFox). Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I've missed damn near every show I love the last few weeks, except for brief moments.

Mystic23, when AAR first came onboard here, I don't think I slept more than 3 hours a day! I was in hog freakin heaven. Eventually, I ended up sleeping through Franken--his voice is soothing; the content was not. I miss, as someone said, AAR version 1.0.

Sammy, I'm the first to find fault with polls. You needed an option to say I listen to FORMER AAR personalities on a non-AAR station (e.g., Malloy).

I'm dead tired so might even miss your show today. Knowing DSL is in the works and I'll be able to d/l makes it slightly tolerable.

NPR, as if you didn't know, sucks the big one compared to when they covered the first Gulf War. Kevin Martin is an evil weasel and should be snipped. I'm angry with damn near everything today. Let's see: Kucinich was banned from yet another debate. That's just for starters. And what is with the raises the chimp gave himself and his cronies? I don't have a link offhand--I know someone here does. I'm not sure we can recover from this takeover. Actually, I'm fairly certain we can't. Yet I (and you all) keep fighting. I guess that's gonna be our noble death--we did the right thing, not the reich thing.

I listen every day.

I never miss "The Young Turks",I almost always listen to Randi,& I try to listen to Seder when possible. It was tough to remember his show on Sunday since that is the only show worth tuning in for on the air over the weekend. But I've gotten used to it now.

In the early days of AAR -

I listened from early a.m. to late at night - even streaming Malloy's last hour (remember-from midnight to 1 a.m.?).
Now, it's just some of Hartmann, Rhodes, Maddow, Sam whenever he's on, and Malloy on NovaM.

This election year we really need the best programming possible!!

i listen to Thom and Rachel

Most days!! but sams show is the only one i will not miss!!!!

Seder & Young Turks = best on AAR

Listen to the Turks and Maddow every day, always try to catch Sam in the office on Sunday.

Too bad the Turks are splitting (fired?)...

I wish AAR would just stick with their programming instead of rearranging every 6 months...

Great shows Sam!

Maddow, Seder and Hartman

I ALWAYS listen to Sam, whereever and whenever, and catch Maddow and Hartman a couple times a week.

I don't consider it AAR anymore

Now I listen to Hartmann, Maddow and a bit of Rhodes. I always try to stream Malloy on Nova M. I miss the old days when the radio was on all day.

AAR

i have Thom Hartmann and Randi on my computer all afternoon at work and Seder on Sunday with my XM.

Couldn't Vote?!?!?!

I wasn't able to vote for some reason (using Firefox 2.0 on Windows XP).

Anyway, I listen to Randi, Rachel and Thom during the week (on WVKO, Columbus). Ever since WVKO went on the air with progressive talk (last month), I've been listening to Sam as well.

Poll

I listen to AAR almost every day and Seder On Sundays when I can. Sam does a great job and is fun and interesting.

why can't i vote in the poll

hmmm guess its closed-but i listen daily - our local affiliate is not AAR but does play Randi everyday. On weekends we get to hear Ring of fire/SederonSun/repeats of a couple of Rachels shows on the weekend and the faith show whatever that one is, weekend Clout and 7days in america.I happened to turn on my radio at like 3 or 4 in the AM early sun morning and heard a replay of lionel but could NOT listen for more than about three minutes(that guy reallly sucks)
sometimes when our affiliate plays sports instead of AAR programming i stream
I listen everyday i possibly can and stream when necessary for my daily fix

I have always ONLY listened to Majority Report Radio / Sam Seder

Always and forever...

However...you could stand do work outside of the leftie box ...you're a little sheep-like for dems...imo...

Radio for Revolutionaries

No, that is the home of NovaM Radio...

Which I personally listen to so often i became a Founding Member. I love Malloy and Farias and then Rachel is on after Mike at Midnight Eastern here.

In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make...

I listen to Air America more than 4 days a typical week and then

I have been an AAR listener since its' first second on the air. I listen to it at least 5 hours per day on weekdays and on Saturday for Ring of Fire & Mark Green. On Sundays I always listen to Sam. Because I've moved to Florida in the past year I divide my listening between 940AM and the internet.

My favorite AAR personalities are a tie between Sam, Randi and Rachel, but I also like
Bobby, Pap and the rest of the gang. I must admit though that I find Lionel unlistenable. I miss Mark, Mark and Mike Malloy. While I appreciated Al, he was not a great radio personality.

What I like so much about Sam is his knowledge of the issues, the Netroots and sense of humor. I always try to listen to him and Mark when they are on because beneath the sthick and humor, many serious points are made.

We are in a radio waste

We are in a radio waste land, Charlotte NC. My wife and I listen to Air america 24/7 We used Sirius on day one and moved to XM when it made the switch. Of course we turn it to Nova M when Lionel and Eddie's on. I have a retail store which Air America plays all day long also.
We even sleep through it most nights falling a sleep when Mike Maloy on and catching the Randi repeats at 2:00 a.m. I guess you could say it's kind of sick. No TV No Music just AAR and Nova M.

to be more precise

sometimes turks, never lionel (i switch to sirius and listen to alex bennett), sometimes hartmann (my favorite is lunch with bernie sanders), randi until i can't take the venom, always rachel, olbermann on tv, malloy on novam a few times a week, and seder whenever and wherever.

I'll also listen to Rachel and Tom.

I without a doubt find Sam's style the most entertaining and diverse. I love Rachel, she is awesome and 100% of the time delivers the goods. Tom Hartman is great I enjoy his historical perspective. That's it on Air Amrica for me.

www.ilostthewar.com

Thank god for Lionel

He insures that I turn my radio off. If Sam was on I would be compelled to listen. I listen to Heartman, Maddow daily when I can and Rhodes when Sam is substituting. On Sunday's I listen to Sam. BRING SAM BACK NOW!

Progressive radio is my place on the dial

I listen to progressive radio 5 days a week including Seder on Sunday.

Sam,

I really love SOS. You have a great program there.

Here in Portland, Oregon, on KPOJ I will listen to Thom Hartmann (our local guy!) now and then, but I ALWAYS make a point to listen to Mike Malloy, but he's "delayed" so more often than not I stream him "live" via KPHX's site. I also ALWAYS listen to Sammy via radio if I'm away from the computer but will watch/listen via the SammyCam if near a computer. If Sammy is substituting for someone, I make a point to listen to the show JUST to listen to Sammy.

I still prefer listening to ANY show Sammy does because his "style" is the type that I prefer to listen to. If Sammy was on Nova M or ANY other network, I'd make a point to listen to his show. Air America is a dead horse as far as I'm concerned. I "cherry pick" what's left (no pun intended!) on AAR, but thanks to the internet I can keep up with the hosts that I prefer no matter WHERE/HOW they deliver their show.

Poll

jawst
I listen to Sam and on XM to Malloy. That's it at this point.

WHERE?

Where can we buy the mousepads for the Majority Report? Any Cups Left?

Happy New Year!

The only day I don't listen

The only day I don't listen is Saturday - and on Sunday I listen only to you - usually on Sammy Cam.

my thoughts EXACTLY!

This is almost identical to my experience. I used to be glued to AAR all day every day. Now...I hardly ever listen. And if I think about when that change started taking place...honestly, it was when sam got kicked out of the morning slot! Because he used to set up tom hartmann--talk about a one-two punch! It was deadly! Now, granted, I ought to still listen to hartmann. I REALLY should, I know that. He's amazing, but for whatever reason I just don't. Now it's just the sunday show and I'm also really into the turks.

The personalities just don't grab me the same way they used to. At the risk of sounding like a troll, certain individuals can be quite grating. I think there's just a lot of us out here who can't abide sticking up for the dems when they keep dropping the ball, and some of what AAR does is cheerleading--which is good! There should be that on the left, but there should also be other choices.

Once a week simply isn't enough seder.

I listen to AAR all the time, in the car, at my office,

at home, on my Discman, when I'm out running around. (I'm probably the only person I know who doesn't listen to my Ipod every minute). I can't stand aLIONEL any more, so there is a void in my life where SAM used to be. It's awful...
Janice Brown

I voted - I listen online

I voted - I listen online daily (at work) to Thom Hartmann & Randi however I don't always get to listen to Sammy on Sunday as the 3-6pm central time isn't the best time for me to listen(kids).
Any chance Sammy you will be back on during weekdays?

Rachel and Sam regularly

Hartmann doesn't air live in my market, Lion-hell not at all. I'll listen to Randi if I'm in the car, but the only way I can listen to Rachel is by streaming.

AAR listenability

I still seek out AAR past hosts such as you and Maron, especially Mike Malloy, and listen to Hartmann nearly daily. I always try to catch Rachel's program (bad timing for cooking dinner) Like Lee Rayburn as a stand-in a lot. I have a combination of streaming and listening to the local station, but I have to say I love Seder on Sundays and a big cheer is heard when you are subbing for another DJ.

Marilyn, Albuquerque

KPTK in Seattle

everyday except for morning slot when I listen to local. I like Hartmann but usually listen to local guy to keep up with local issues.

Seder is my priority via sammycam. Best analysis - better than Randi often - she's a close second. I consistently recommend Seder to friends and on blogs.

I love it all

I work at home, so I stream AAR all the time. I hope AAR's business model is to take advantage of the new technologies. It's nice to have AM radio stations. But I think that AM, with it's dominance of RightWing shows and sports, is a dying dinosaur. Just my opinion.

To provide more specific info

IN the beginning I would listen to AAR as much as possible, but with all the changes and decisions made by new management I literally have to TURN OFF AAR and now listen ONLY as Appointment radio because so much of what used to be top quality content and hosts has become literally unbearable.
I was a TYT member before they came to AAR, and will continue to listen to them when they leave AAR.
I TURN OFF AAR before Lionel ever starts because he is unbearable - he is rude to the audience, his callers, especially to vets when they call in, and is overall a waste of airtime...whereas Sam in the morning was a must listen to.
Back in the beginning Al, Randi and then Majority Report were my daily routine, but now While I love Thom, I cannot always listen live, I try to never miss Randi, and Rachel is always a great wrap up for my day. Any programs after 8 PM are just not worth my time.
Ring of Fire, Radio Nation are excellent and Sam's Seder on Sunday is a never miss.

I do not understand what the reasoning behind the decisions made once the Green's took over, but the brilliance of AAR has never been the same. AND I have written to M. Green weekly since he took over and have never received any kind of response.
Bottomline - these changes lost me as a listener until 3PM in the afternoon...and weekends I podcast Ring of fire but always tune in live for Sammy.

Reality. TV. Two more reasons to read.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.

AAR Lost Most Of The Funny. Only Sam Brings It.

Maron - Funny - Gone
Franken - Funny - Gone
Janeanne - Funny - Gone

Lionel? Really?

Humor is a weapon only The Left can use. Why has AAR voluntarily disarmed?

Sblmnl

Obama & Edwards - I don't

Obama & Edwards - I don't see that happening. Four years ago he probably was okay with being VP but not this time. What Edward's want to do as president is very different than Obama. I don't see Obama wanting to do anything with universal healthcare since his wife Michelle used to be a hospital administrator.

Soccer mom

AAR, my life

I listen to AAR every possible moment! My alarm wakes me up to KTLK here in So. Calif. (Stephanie Miller's not really Air America, however -- but she's great!). At work, I listen to Thom Hartmann, followed by Randi, both of which are on KTLK, but sometime before 3:00 I make sure to switch to streaming so I don't miss a moment of Rachel Maddow. I miss a little of Clout during my drive home from work, but begin streaming as soon as I get home.

By now I have an issue of the day, at which time (while still streaming), I email, fax, or snailmail-write a list of about 50 newspapers, broadcasters, and cable news programs, plus my 2 senators, my representative, and several other members of Congress.

Weekends are a little more random, but I still try to stream as much as possible.

Do I have a life outside of AAR and political indignation? Believe it or not I do! But things are such a mess right now I can't live with myself if I don't do everything possible to wake people up to the issues!

Love Sammy

and like Maddow's format but her delivery sucks. Sorry. Randi rocks. Malloy usually good except when in overdrive. You are the best!

This code machine is frustrating to say the least.

I listen to Rachel, and

I listen to Rachel, and Randi only when Sam is on. I listen to Hartman, but not every day.

I podcast it all and have bought a subscription.

I also listen to Maron v. Sedar and will buy a subscription to that so long as an audio only version is supplied (No offense, you folks look fine, but I listen while I work).

AAR has removed most of my reasons for listening...

Presently, I listen to Rachel Maddow daily, and Sam whenever I can find him. That means Sunday, Maron v. Seder, and whenever Sam is subbing.

I think firing Kent Jones was yet another boneheaded move by AAR, that seems to be their strong suit.

I used to listen all day, from morning sedition, unfiltered, majority report, Al Franken and Randi.

As it stands now, I can't listen to Randi without the sane hosts around her to offset her ego and her yelling at callers. Lionel is worse than listening to my cat in the catbox, horrible voice, horrible sense of humor, horrible sense of topic. Can't stand the Greens. Thom Hartmann makes me fall asleep.

I've hung in there with AAR, but to be blunt, Sam Seder is the only reason I bother to tune in anymore. I get podcasts from the seattle station, so there's no reason for me to listen directly anymore, but once a week is not enough.

Sam, perhaps it's time to stop betting on a dead horse and get on the air somewhere else, like NovaM...

Rachel Maddow

Rachel is great every day. Randi now makes me barf. That's about it.

Seder and Nova M

That's it. I will listen to Rachel every now and then, but, honestly, I can't stand AAR's "business decisions" regardless of the value the other hosts provide. Getting rid of Kent Jones in RM's show is just another example of why I don't like the network anymore.

AAR got me started, but I am finding shows they don't cover,

I'm greatly saddened by the dropping of the Young Turks. Lionel is alright 50% of the time, and XM gives us Ed in late morning. So when at home, I go to my computer and stream KTLK with Stephanie Miller in the morning, they carry Thom Hartmann and Randi. I do switch back to AAR on line for Rachel, and when I get the chance go to KHPX for Malloy in the evenings. Miss your daily shows, and have been listening to AAR since the begining. Morning Sedition was great and I miss it still. - Jim in Nebraska, (without on line and XM we here are buried in Fox, Rush, O'Riley and local wanna be's hacks.)

Randi's ego...

and her fawning over guests - ie. Tim Robbins - is disgusting. I'm tired of her love affair with herself. I listen because she often provides great information. Just wish she could get her ego under control and that puerile hero worship in which she indulges.

I'll listen to the commercials on Seder....

...so I won't miss any of the show, instead of (I admit) dialing around during the breaks on others. Haven't done that since Franken. And I did when Seder was on 5 days a week, and would do so again. Tell that to your advertisers (and to the powers-that-be at AAR).

San Diego Ex-Republican

I always hope

That AAR will wake up. I still say that they just need a decent salesperson to get ads from the lefty companies. Im so sick of the commercials. If I had a lefty company I'd beat down the doors to advertise with certain shows.

listen every day of the week

I listen to the radio at work from noon on until I leave for home. I get home and try to stream Rachel's show while caring for the kids but not on the radio since WWRL has bad reception. I listen to Sammy on the computer 'cause I like the SammyCam. I listened to you every day when u were five days a week. I have been listening to Air America since it's inception. Please don't go off the air, I don't think I could stand it if Air America was not available any more. This is why I am a member, trying to help any way I can.

Sammy, Why do some of the

Sammy, Why do some of the guests you have on always make the statement - John Edwards comes off as being "mad"? As a supporter of Edwards I get tired of hearing that from the main stream media and then I hear it on Air America. Is Air America siding with Obama too. Explain to me why for months already Air America as given Obama & Hillary Clinton more air time?

I stream AAR 7 days a week but...

7 days a week but cant stand Lionel.I switch to WCPT for S.Miller when he's on.

I hate those commercials...

I've started literally walking keeping the radio remote close because I zap the damn commercials. I cannot stand the stupid sprinkler system for the forest. Whoever came up with that commercial should be fired. I suppose those come from local affiliate but I still hate them. Sometimes when I turn off, I get distracted and forget to turn back on. AA's loss.

Sam take Lionel's spot!

For a country starved for some reality to contrast GOP Media "all stations/all of the time", Air America is our only hope... then comes Lionel... ugh... perfect time slot for you... getting ready for work and not turning on Good Morning America or the like... love it!

more than 4 days a week, but not for long

Yours (Majority Report and now your Sunday show) + Al Franken's show + the Young Turks is all I've ever been interested in on AAR. I happily pay extra for those podcasts -- rarely turn on the "radio." Love your show -- and the show with Maron -- but with TYT on the way out I may be moving on as well.

PS: Any plans to put out a proper podcast of Maron v Seder?

I agree with some of the

I agree with some of the bloggers about Randi. Sometimes it's painful to listen to her rudeness to callers and her fawning over celebrities. She never fails to name drop and mention (over and over) how she's personal friends with many of them.

But the info she provides is like gold. She's full of facts and background, much like Thom Hartmann. Too bad her ego gets in the way.

I also agree with soccer mom about Edwards. If Obama says something, it's called passion. If Edwards says it the same way, it's called anger! Let's pay attention to the content, people, and stop STOP labeling people!

And lastly, every day I wake up hoping it's not the day I find out AAR is ceasing operation! When all you hear is the money aspect, it's very discouraging. I know the other media is afraid of AAR, but can't AAR get more mentions on the websites that we keep hearing about from Sam et al? I go to those websites after listening and expect to find some cross-reference to AAR, but usually nil, nada, nothing, zip, zero, unh-unh and nope.

WTF

I have to listen to Sam on the web, or get the podcasts because the "flagship" station doesn't even run his show.

I'm still missing Morning Sedition, and wondering what Mark Riley's doing now.

Edwards is winning the Democrat and Independent web polls..

Why are all of the web polls ignored? Even when I was streaming the Iowa Caucus with the Young Turks, the national poll being taken,"live", Edwards was winning at 50% to 60%... now, if you take Kucinich (unfortunately) out of the DNC and Independent Polls, Edwards is winning... NATIONALLY. He should stay in it for the long haul, being he has to fight the Corporate Media and refuses Corporate Money the others, including Obama, have to answer to.

I second that

I second that

More hosts...

Ed Schultz: yecch (I suppose the conservative mid-west corn belt needs someone who at least sounds progressive, but if I wanted to hear someone brag about catching a fish, I'd call Uncle Rudy)

Lionel: double yecch (the worst sense of humor -- or lack thereof -- ever! and how does someone with a slurry voice like that get a radio talkshow anyway?)

Young Turks: once in a while good info, but mostly yecch (are they still on? what happened to the "girl", you know, the one who never said anything anyway?)

Locally, on KTLK we have some real yahoos, particularly Johnny Wendell, whose obviously desperate goal in life is to become famous any way he can, a real wannabee. Out of curiosity once I forced myself to listen to him for a full 30 minutes, and the entire time he ranted about (...drum roll...) feral cats! I do like Mario most of the time.

I agree with you

I agree with you leftwritelady about Ed Schultz. I live in Minnesota and he's on my local progressive station and then Hartmann's show is played after his(replay). I stream online Hartmann & Randi instead. Actually, Ed Schultz used to be a conservative talk show host on a regional show out of Fargo, ND. He says his conversion to being a "liberal" is because of his second wife but I don't buy that story. I think he has conections with the DLC.

eya gang!

a good day to all!

AAR has lost most of its original appeal

The loss of Morning Sedition, Mike Malloy, The Majority Report, then The Sam Seder Show, has been devastating to us early fans of AAR. I'm grateful they at least kept Sam on at all, but I still feel cheated and will likely not renew my AAR subscription. (But I will subscribe to Maron v Seder.)
These days, Seder On Sundays is the only show I never miss, and sometimes even listen to it twice. I only occasionally listen to Randi and Thom. Never missed Rachel before Kent Jones left, now it's more hit and miss, although I think Ms. Maddow is one of AAR's greatest talents--how long will it be before she's gone too, I have to wonder.

raised the issue with Sam more than once.

no cigar.

(sorta flaky eh?)

almost forgot...

Ring of Fire is a good show. Though I wish Sam had been invited to co-host permanently. My greatest concern is the influence of Mark Green on AAR. I think he's a particularly lousy radio host, on the rare times I've heard him.

KPHX

I listen to WCPT 820 AM in Chicago and KPHX 1480. KPHX does carry Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Rachel Maddow (after Mike Malloy), Jon Elliot, and Lionel (the later two after Malloy as well.) Otherwise, they go with Jeff Farias and Mike Malloy from Nova M at night, and Bill Press and Stephanie Miller in the morning. For the most part, KPHX also carries its own shows on the weekend - with some AAR reruns.

sorta strange when he goes into some of his opinions on what's happening and shows he has no idea what's really going on.

Riley...

Got offered a job at WLIB...the old flagship station that is now an all gospel, all the time station. I heard that he wasnt too happy with Bey on the local morning show on the sinking flagship. I miss the old lineup SO much. I lament the loss of AAR so much. Can only listen to Rachel, Ring of Fire, and sammy...mostly podcasting..and I do alot of tech show podcasting, such as Diggnation and Leo Laporte's TWIT shows. I am so disappointed in what the Greens have done with this bargain basement, yet important, piece of radio history.
The brother Green is loaded and hardly had to lay out cash at all to get posession of the property...and proceeded to gut it. They have cash to make it great again, but have obviously decided not to invest further, and to try to make it fly on its own; that is folly, considering how much support any media start up needs for years. Its clear that they wanted to hitch their star to some established coattails and promote their own careers and their infomercial business. If that wasnt the cast, Im sure we would be seeing something beyond the addition of Lionel and the firing of Kent Jones...the cutting back of Sammy and the stupid horrible decisions they have made all around.
This has affected my day to day life in such a negative way, and has taken AAR out of contention as a force in the liberal movement...and I have to sat that the Greens are a couple of the very few people in the world (along with certain Bushies, Bush himself, and Nader) that I actively hate.

Bring Marc Maron back to AAR and give Sam a regular show again!! Its a no brainer!

Green interrupts

too much! I like his show with Huffington. Arianna and Katrina from the Nation last week was great except he couldn't let either one finish a sentence. Their analysis was much better than his.

Ed Schulz: I never liked before - called him Bubba - but he's been making some good points lately and conversing well to middle America Dem policies and rhetoric. I've gotten over the image problem with him. I'm glad he's on our side now.

Finally, SEND MONEY $$$ TO EDWARDS! HE NEEDS IT! He is the right one! We liberals are not lucky! I'd love an Edwards/Obama ticket.

Will Obama be nice like ....

Sen. Reid is nice?

I like nice, too, when one can expect it back in return. Nice is based on trust and there is no trust, or at least not much trust, toward the Republicans right now. I believe it will take a few years (8 years?) before the trust can begin to be believed.

I want to believe Obama but Edwards probably has what it takes to "take on the corporate powers."

What's the deal with the new guy AAR advertised yesterday? I checked the schedule and he wasn't listed. When I checked today - he's name/picture was gone and I can't remember his name except he was a lawyer and, of course, he was the "best." If AAR is going with another guy instead of Seder, there is something definitely wrong-headed at the top of AAR or we/fans/listeners are missing something.

Only Rachel and Young Turks

Would MUCH rather have Sam every day.

premium member ...

for a couple years, but I now mainly listen to Seder on Sundays and:

Rachel Maddow a few times a week, Hartmann once in a while, Lionel only when Stephanie Miller is on vacation.

And it makes my day when Sam or Maron are filling in for someone :)

I would LOVE a morning show with Seder and Maron, maybe a little Jim Earl sprinkled on top. I'm really thinking of canceling my membership though, 'cause 2 hrs of Maddow and Sam once a week just aren't really worth the $70.

if there are more changes to happen

thats it (unless of course its to give sam more air time). I'm so tired of AAR cannibalizing itself.
pretty much the main reason to listen to AAR is Sam Seder truly without him I would have no need for a premium subscription.

Sam is my main man

I listen to every show Sam hosts or subs for (Randi, Malloy) and makes an appearance on. Other than that I podcast Hartmann occasionally.-Kalena

AAR habits

I love the Turks now that Ben is gone. He acted like he hated to be there.
I love Rachel.
I like Thom.
I loooove Sam.
Hate Lionel.
I used to like Randi some but I think she may have gone insane. She hates almost all her callers.

I love Marc. He does really good interviews.

I podcast and just fast forward through segments I am not interested in. Usually Thom's conservative guests are my victims.

I download old Majority Report from the archives to hear Sam and Jeanne. She is absolutely brilliant.

I am a Premium Member also.

Mark Riley & Richard Bey

Submitted by Melina on Sun, 01/06/2008 - 6:56pm.

I heard that he wasnt too happy with Bey on the local morning show on the sinking flagship.
----------------
I'm not happy with Richard Bey, either. He's nasty and rude to callers he doesn't agree with and, in my opinion, he's not too smart, either. He keeps saying he doesn't think the CIA broke any laws by destroying the torture tapes. I guess he's never heard of obstruction of justice.

Has AAR 2.0 crashed

Overall, I am not happy with many of the changes at AAR. Lionel was supposed to bring in new affiliates, but there are now less stations carrying AAR at the 9 AM to 12 AM Eastern slot. The Air Americans bombed, and Bree Walker never got the show that was mentioned repeatedly on AAR. The Young Turks are leaving, and supposedly nothing will take their place.

That is only some of the most recent headaches. Throw in the end of Morning Sedition, replacing Unfiltered with Jerry Springer (whose theme song should have been Born to Be Mild), firing Mike Malloy, replacing Sam Seder with Lionel, firing Mark Riley, and Kent Jones and you have some decisions that do not sit well with me. So, I have to wonder where AAR is going.

It is hard to have much confidence in the Greens after their big relaunch of AAR has not seemed to result in any great improvements in ratings for AAR. Meanwhile, it seems more stations that carry AAR shows identify themselves first as progressive talk stations rather than identifying themselves first as AAR affiliates.

AAR premium member

Ok, I don't mind paying for liberal media. So I'm an AAR premium member. Mostly iPod, after the fact, but love to listen to Sam live!

When Al left, I thought the station would crash. Wrong! And so glad I was. I Listen to Thom virtually every day. Randi, too, and Rachael every chance I get. Almost exclusively on iPods. (I jog a lot and drive a lot so I have time to fill).

But Sam, he's the greatest.

He's gotta be on every day...what a waste of talent w/o him being on every day.

P.S. I won't listen to the Turks because the one guy, Cenk? screams so much and uses the GD word. I'm an atheist, but that's Bad Taste.

Only Sam Seder

... and after hearing the awful post-Iowa show on Thursday while waiting for Sam, I am reminded as to why I can't listen to AAR anymore.

Miss the original line-up.

Nor do I

I stream Maddow, Miller, Malloy, Hartmann, Rhodes and sometimes Ed Schultz, not from AAR site but instead from affiliates like KPTK, KPHX, NovaM, KXLJ, etc, wherever I can find them. Then I Shoutcast Seder on Sunday since I'm usually busy 4-7p and listen later. It's totally cool that Sam is subing more often, but obviously he needs a daily.

SamSeSun & MMvsSS only live stream

The Maddow-Podcast - pick and chose the other shows if there is a guest like Naomi Kline, Kruger. TYT - stream from their website during Michael Hircsh or some other guest - download to "Listen to This" to someone. ----- Little boats

Good Point.....

I like Randi but I'm don't tune in on a regular basis (I'm usually coming home at that time). I however, would listen to Sam 7 days a week if I could find the time. Oh and BTW ..... LIONEL SUCKS!

Torture in South Florida

Here in South Florida we're no longer provided much AAR programming. We haven't had Racheal Maddow in quite a while, Tom Hartmann is inserted somewhere for only a partial show sometime over the weekend, and today Sam Seder was pre-empted by some local sports broadcast instead, as was Ring of Fire yesterday, so we got none of either. What we do get of AAR is "Randi Rhodes," who is listenable on some days and not on others, and "Lionel," which is just about the liberal version of Glenn Beck, or maybe worse than that. We also get non-AAR, like Ed Shultz, who I think is a barely competent blowhard, and Mike Malloy, who expresses how depressing our nation has become every night for hours with minimal interviews and educational content, as well as Stephanie Miller, whose show is almost an exact repeat of itself every day for the last two years. I am always so happy when Sam Seder substitutes for any of them. But AAR v.1 was what I always enjoyed. Now I listen to about 25% or less of v.2 than what I used to of AAR v.1. I especially miss Rachel Maddow. The worst thing about AAR is the outrageous number of commercial breaks and how outrageously long they are. It is just impossible to listen to for much of the time. I'm listening to the programming less and less not only because of the cheesy bad choices in programming but because all the commercials over and over again are just unbearable, and that includes the PSA's I've heard over and over again every day for three years. Oh yeah, we also get Mark Green and one other once-a-week show.

ALWAYS LISTEN TO SEDER

always listen to sam, esp when he is subbing. love maron vs seder, never miss and i listen to NovaM daily - love hartmann and randi, stream malloy now and again. never underestimate the fact that so much of the corruption that is happening and has happened is public and we can be grateful that it is atleast being spoken about because you know that the bastards cannot even stand the fact that people have the nerve of even discussing it and the rare instance in which they are forced to comment on it. i am just as cynical as most but see this aspect as a positive. people who are cheating never want their actions to be known or spoken of, be confident that this drives them insane which is awesome as well. AAR personalities, NovaM, liberal bloggers all pat yourselves on the collective back.

listening to Sam

I make sure I listen to Sam on Sundays; I know I will find out what happened during the week and why it was important. Sam, you are the greatest and I miss you so much on a daily basis. Now I don't listen that much during the week, Randi and Rachel some. But I will not miss Sam on Sunday! BTW, Lionel is the worst and one of the main reasons I stopped listening during the week. Please put Sam back on every day!!!!!!!

We stream AA all day long,

We stream AA all day long, Mike Malloy at night. If I miss a show during the day I know which station repeats the show at night. I really miss Al Franken, he had great guests every day, Oliphant, Conason, the latest authors. I love his sense of humor, I wish he were back but he will make a great senator.
I hate the right wing guests Hartmann has and he gives them so much time. Then when he finally gets a liberal guest he gives them maybe 10 minutes and he does most of the talking. What is wrong with letting them talk for 30 minutes or an hour. If I wanted to listen to right wingers I know where to find them, I don't want them on Air America.
I miss Sam's weekly show, I always listen and watch the Sammy cam on Sunday. And it is great when he fills in for someone else.
Love Rachel and am very sad that Kent Jones was fired. I like Rhandi I just wish she would let her guests talk more then she does.

Is it just me or does it seem like ....

Mark Green is single handedly trying to bring down AAR?

The New York flagship station has really become a complete disaster! Back in the old days of AAR you used to have Marks (Marc Maron & Mark Riley) hosting a very funny morning show. Then you'd get Unfiltered which was pretty much Rachel Maddow attempting to overcome her two co-hosts. Lizz Winstead wasn't all that bad, but she added very little. Chuck D didn't even show up for work on time on most days, and added absolutely nothing when he did. Then you had Franken who was very good overall, but lost a bit after Katherine Lanpher left the show. At 3pm came Randi, who for some reason never liked Al Franken. To this day, I still don't have any idea why that was? Randi was great at expressing the kind of complete rage that many of us had (and still have) towards Bush & Co. After her came MAJORITY REPORT which was flat out the best show on AAR. I had never heard of Sam Seder before that show but grew to love the guy. He's smart, extremely well informed, and 100% entertaining. He's the complete package. The only problem that I had with the show was that it was on when I was at home playing, feeding, and bathing my kids so I missed it on most days. After the kiddies went to sleep, I would occasionally tune in for Mike Malloy if I had any lingering anger to get out at Bush. All and all, tuning in to AAR in those days was mostly enjoyable from 6AM to bed time. Even after the original schedule got shuffled a bit it seemed as though it was for the better. Unfiltered got blown up and Rachel was finally given her own show where she and Kent Jones could shine. Sammy got moved into a mid morning timeslot where I could finally listen to him at work, and I ended up loving The Young Turks (who I thought I'd kinda hate). They unloaded Mike Malloy for reasons which I'm still unclear about, but I guess that's just radio. I also couldn't figure out why Mark Maron was let go for what I assumed were poor ratings, but Mark Riley (who's far less entertaining) was kept on?

So what the hell happened? Well first the station got moved from WLIB 1190AM to 1600AM WWRL which I honestly didn't even know was on the AM dial. This move should have brought The Young Turks to the east coast, but for some reason we were forced to endure the former Bush shill Armstrong Williams drone on about nonsense, with progressive Sam Greenfield who was forced to defend him on a daily basis to a liberal radio audience. Imagine that? Then the WWRL morning show threw together Mark Riley with Richard Bey who they dusted off and pulled out of a broom closet somewhere (It's been a long time since channel 9 buddy!). Well, Riley liked this change so much that he quit after only two months and said he was heading back to WLIB, which I believe plays gospel music these days. Score another one for the Green brothers! Then the Green no-ratings machine decided to send Sammy's show to the radio version of Elba (weekends) and his weekday slot is taken by that lisping idiot Lionel. WTF? Now I can't hear Sam because I've got tons of "family stuff" to do on the weekends so I must check this web page on a weekly basis to see when and where he'll be guess hosting. Meanwhile, Lionel continues to make stupid point after stupid point while not even discussing politics half the time he's on the air. Is this really what AAR listeners were longing for? No wonder Mark Green's political campaigns have been complete failures? His team of advisors never seems to know what the people want to hear!!! I mean really, his campaign against Mike Bloomberg was one of the worst run campaigns in recent American political history! But I digress .... After that nitwit Lionel signs off we now get Thom Hartmann who replaced Franken when he bolted to run for the US Senate. Hartmann is a really nice guy and he's probably the most knowledgeable host that AAR has ever put on its airwaves. The only issue that I've got with his show is that it's kind of, well, dry. He's got the smarts and the knowledge, but the Franken, Turks, Maddow, Seder, Randi entertainment value ain't quite there. I think that the best segments on his show are when he's debating a conservative. Maybe he ought to do a daily debate with someone to spice things up a bit? After Randi (who hasn't skipped a beat) we get Rachel but that just gets me back to that bad dinnertime timeslot thing again where I used to be with the Majority Report. And now I hear that Kent Jones has been shown the door? Enough is enough! AAR NYC is a total disaster. It just is. At what point do Maron, Seder, Maddow, Randi, The Turks, and maybe Malloy just run off and start their own internet webstream? Well until then, I'll continue to stream The Young Turks via the web, check for Sammy appearances, listen to bits of Thom Hartmann here and there, catch up with Rachel when I can, and have Randi keep me company on the ride home. I'll also listen to a well run AAR affiliate in Minnesota http://www.airamericaminnesota.com/ and catch the Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz shows which I think you'll find far better than The Alan Colmes and (oh lord give me strength) Neil Cavuto business reports.

In the early days of AAR -- and now

We have the exact same habits. But I do need my Mad Money on CNBC with Jim Cramer and later, Keith Olbermann. I sometimes tape those. Malloy's being off has been a real hardship.

my dream line up

WEEKDAYS:
stephanie miller early mornings
sammy late mornings/early afternoons
harrison on the edge drive time (he was local LA - awesome gay guy, true activist, great talent, big heart)
rachel (AND KENT) anchor news time (6-8?)
marc maron evenings
alan colmes (dozing off to sleep time - i know, i know, i hated him at first, but he's hilarious and his conservative callers are entertaining morons!)

** i wouldn't be opposed to some thom hartmann in there somewhere but he's a little dry for me. and randi is getting a little too nuts to listen to for long

WEEKENDS (in no particular order):
franken - cozy/folksy weekend show
that atheist show out of milwaukee - freedom from religion foundation?
janeane (maybe a show on hair extensions or scientology - just joshin')
protest music
brad friedman of bradblog
something produced by/for/about young progressives (call me -- i'll help!)
political radio theatre (again - i can help, got shit in the can already)

**right now i don't listen to AAR much since our LA feed is mostly infomercials, so i don't know what the reg. lineup is. i do stream sammy though

VOICES I WOULD STEAL FROM PUBLIC RADIO
harry shearer - he's not on all NPR stations and he's a great talent...
jerry quickly - amazing quick multi-talent from KPFK in LA (who also went to baghdad for the start of the war and does a solo show about it -- and unfortunately happens to be the only person of color on my list)

VOICES I NEVER WANT TO HEAR AGAIN ANYWHERE EVER
lionel - we had him in LA before you had him on AAR - my sympathies
johnny wendall - god forbid the trend follows and you get him in NY too!
mr. k - another fake lib forced down our gullet here in LA
mark green - at least adopt a fake radio name or something!
bree walker
the whole slew of KTLK ads that ridicule libs! you wouldn't believe what we have to endure - they mock us for the way we dress, for caring about the environment, politics, etc., and then expect us to listen and attend their events.

Have listened to Sam since March 31, 2004

Love Sam, just wish there was more of him :(

Great fun to watch Sam & Maron on the webcast every week, though. There's I really miss Marc and his buddy Jim Earl(e).

Used to listen to Franken pretty regularly, too, except when it was all-Social-Security-all-the-time (not that I didn't support *his* support of SS, it's just that it got a bit too boring for me, a Canadian listener).

Love Rachel Maddow and listen to her every day, no matter what time-slot AAR put her in...can't believe Kent Jones is gone, too! WTF?!

Wasn't sure what to make of the Young Turks, at first, but Cenk's really grown on me. I don't always agree with him, but he's just such a goofball, it's hard to stay mad ;) I wish Wes Clark Jr. was on the show *every* day--I think I may have a serious crush in the works.

I've been an AAR "premium" subscriber since Jan 2006, but now I'm not exactly sure what my subscription covers anymore. The Young Turks will go off AAR on Jan 16, and will be web-subscriber only ($10/month). Maron's gone, daily-Seder's gone, Franken's gone...so depressing.

And Sam: can't tell you how sad I was on your last weekday broadcast, last spring. It was like having a dear friend move far, far away: you know they're fine, but it's just not the same as seeing/talking to them every day. I listened to you every weekday since the inception of the Majority Report. I'm embarrassed to say that I *may* have cried a little when you signed off with the "So long, farewell" children's song :(

I'm grateful to have your Sunday show and the webcasts are great fun, bugs & all. Please keep it up!

Cheers,

Progressive radio or podcast all day long---and Sam is:

My favorite! I miss him so much Mon - Fri. Love it when he fills in. I signed up for NovaM when I found out he was filling in for Mike Malloy for a week. (Please do it again Sam so I get my money's worth!)

I listen to Rachel every day, Thom on most days, Randi and Malloy occasionally (except when Sam is filling in), Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz on the radio and Lionel if I'm bored. Richard Green is a snooze...OMG. What the heck is that show doing wasting air time? Ring of Fire is good, if I remember to listen.

I'd love all Sam all the time.

Debbie

PS: I DID cry, more than a little, when you signed off on your last weekday show. Not afraid to admit it.

Is Turks' exit Sam's entrance?

I want more Seder! NOW!

Chiming in to Agree

I guess I technically listen to AAR more than 4 times a week because I listen to Rachel virtually every day. But because of my disgruntlement with AAR, I always stream 92.1 The MIC (out of Madison), which identifies itself as a progressive station (they air Stephanie, Ed, Randi, Rachel, and Mike Malloy along with some local shows like Lee Rayburn).

I agree with all the comments about how AAR 1.0 was MUCH better and I would leave it on basically all day - even though I don't particularly love Randi, she was easier to listen to when surrounded by other great personalities.

And of course I agree with the comments on needing MORE Sam!!! It is RIDICULOUS that he is not on every day, especially since almost every single caller to Randi's show last week started off by saying "Sam - we miss you during the week."

Republicans for Voldemort

Sammy RULES!!!!

There's NO good reason that Sammy shouldn't have a daily show. He has SUCH a HUGE following, and AAR should realize his audience will follow him where ever he goes (hopefully to Nova M!!!!). I rarely listen to any other Air America shows any longer, but I make a point to NEVER miss Sammy. I thought I'd give Randi Rhodes one last shot today to see if her ego deflated at least a little bit for the new year, but after only a half an hour of her show, I'm ready to PUKE listening to her and her PATHETIC name-dropping and Oprah worship. Randi thinks that if Randi says something, then it's true. REALITY CHECK - no, Randi, you're just an egotistical SPAZ!

GAWD, there is NO comparison between AAR v.1 to v.2 - v.1 was AWESOME and v.2 SUCKS! I hope Sammy just leaves AAR and heads over to Nova M or at least goes out on his own and does something with Maron or even by himself. Shit, I paid to become a Nova M "founding member" and I'd be MORE than willing to purchase a subscription to hear Sammy on a daily (or at least week-daily) basis. Keep up the GREAT work, Sammy!!!! :-)

AAR We Hardly Knew Ye

jawst When AAR started I was listening day one, hour one and just about all day, my house was a real mess. Ah, remember the O'Franken Factor, how funny was that? Remember, Morning Sedition, Unfiltered, Majority Report, later Mike Malloy and then we were blessed with The Sam Seder Show. Sure I missed The Majority Report but at least we had Sam. But it was so nerve racking, "will Sam be signed, yes, no, yes, no". Of course we already went through "will Marc be signed, yes, no, yes, no. Will Mike be signed yes, no, yes, no". Now Cenk will be gone, just when the show was getting decent. I can't take AAR anymore. I have only kept my Premium membership for Sam. I would be happy to pay him the money directly instead of AAR and listen on line.
