The 18 Percent Congress

By David Swanson

If you were a member of Congress, wouldn't you behave completely differently from how most members of Congress behave? I mean, if you had not gone through the process required to become a congress member, but just suddenly became one tomorrow, wouldn't you behave as though you had an ounce of decency? Wouldn't you take your responsibility at least as seriously as your power and your ego? Wouldn't you at a bare minimum seek to represent the wishes of the majority of your constituents, the way you were taught in elementary school a representative is supposed to represent? I have to assume you would, as I assume I would, as I assume a majority of Americans would.

If I were a member of Congress, I would be constantly polling my constituents to find out their views of an issue. And if I felt passionately that they were wrong, I would seek to persuade them. If I could not persuade them, I would vote their view rather than my own. My own view would be suspect in my own mind, not that of a majority of my constituents living outside the Beltway and its influences. And if my constituents' views were too unpopular with moneyed interests to bring in the funds needed to reelect me, then I just wouldn't be reelected. But, of course, all of us with that attitude will never be elected in the first place.

There are people (18 percent of the country) who approve of Congress right now. That's a smaller percentage than believe in UFOs. I'm not going to try to explain it. The other 82 percent are of more interest. Some of them simply oppose anything run by Democrats. Some of them are fed up with the Democrats' refusal to stand up to the Republicans. Some blame the Republicans even though they're the minority. Others find little of any use in either party, but are passionate about the growing gulf between Congress and the people it supposedly represents.

Hello SUNshine Jim

Just waiting for the
John Abramson
Overdosed America
interview

Conservatives like to think of animal protection as a trendy

leftist cause, which makes it easier to brush off. And I hope that more of us will open our hearts to animals. I also believe that in factory farming and other cruelties conservatives will find some familiar problems — moral relativism, self-centered materialism, license passing itself off as freedom, and the culture of death.”

Vegetarianism, one potential cure for the disease of speciesism, has a long and rich history. A number of individuals noted for their impressive moral, intellectual, social, literary, or political accomplishments were vegetarians, including Edison, Einstein, Gandhi, Kafka, Pythagoras, da Vinci, Tesla, Plato, Tolstoy, Thoreau, Jane Goodall, Cesar Chavez, Isaac Bashevis Singer, and George Bernard Shaw.

Almost undoubtedly these conscientious individuals who respected non-human animals enough to stop eating them confronted some of the same specious, often snide, arguments against vegetarianism that defenders of speciesism still use today.

Consider a brief deconstruction of a few of them:

“A vegetarian diet is protein-deficient and vegetarians become weak, frail, and sickly.”

There is abundant medical and anecdotal evidence to demonstrate that a plant-based diet provides ample proteins for a human being to sustain health to the same extent as those eating meat. There are also some indications that we were almost exclusively vegetarian at one point in the evolutionary process

“Vegetarians have no

“Vegetarians have no regard for the “suffering” of plants.”

One of the principal reasons most animal liberationists oppose meat consumption is the suffering it imposes upon non-human animals. Arguing that vegetarians are hypocritical because they eat plants is fallacious for two reasons (which are probably obvious even to those who disingenuously make this ridiculous assertion).

Lacking a central nervous system and even a rudimentary consciousness necessary to experience pain, it would be impossible for plants to “suffer” in the sense that human and non-human animals do.

Admittedly, we do violate the sanctity of life in an absolute sense when we consume a plant, which is why there is some validity to the assertion that “to live is to destroy and kill.” Yet again, as self-aware beings capable of making moral decisions, it is incumbent upon us to minimize the suffering and death which we cause simply by being. Choosing to eat plants rather than animals is one of the most viable means we have of doing so.

Abstention from eating flesh aside, many ardent speciesists argue that the entire notion of animal liberation is puerile and trivial because the world is filled with problems that are “more important” than relieving the misery of non-human animals. But remember that many of these same individuals thrive in a system of savage capitalism which provides them with an “inalienable right” to prosper through exploitation. Terrified of losing their profits, they work vigorously to prevent our society from adopting a more enlightened moral position with respect to animals.

Certainly the United States is not alone in committing shocking atrocities against non-human animals as a matter of routine, but we are the epicenter of the most advanced and malignant stages of predatory capitalism. With the complicity of all of us Little Eichmans (even those who consciously keep their participation to a bare minimum), the moneyed class comprising our de facto government is literally committing crimes on par with those for which we hanged the architects of Nazism at Nuremburg.

Despite the environment of bitter dissent and rage directed at the status quo in the United States, taking extreme action against an increasingly rickety yet still incredibly powerful system would be premature, self-defeating, and perhaps suicidal at this point.

Yet regardless of the considerable number of constraints the ruling elites have upon us, we are still the stewards of our own souls and possess the means to rise above the abject moral poverty of our nation. What better place to start than in the defense of the most vulnerable amongst us?

Mind Benders:

A perspective that allows you to see more of what's happening around you and within you...

Suppose that I, a family doctor, make a house call to see a patient with a pain in the gluteus maximus -- the buttock. In the course of my physical examination I find that the patient is sitting on a tack.

Were I to honor the implicit contract which postulates symptom suppression as the primary objective of my visit, I might administer a quarter grain of morphine, write a prescription for codeine pills, and leave instructions to call me in the morning . The morning report might be something like, "As long as I take the pills, it doesn't hurt, Doc."

In a few days, the pain medicine loses its effectiveness. Time and increasing dosage bring two new developments. The symptom suppression stops and side effects begin to appear. Symptoms may now include nausea and vomiting along with pain in the buttock. Faced with apparent failure of the drug approach, I might recommend surgery.

There are varying surgical solutions to the problem. I could sever the nerve which carries pain sensations from the buttock to the spinal cord, or I could perform a dorsal root rhizotomy. That's a highly specialized neurological operation where we cut the sensory nerve as it enters the spine.

Alternatively, we could freeze the thalamus in the brain, which is thought to be the body's pain center. I might send him to a pain control center where a group of specialists would give instruction on how to live with pain. As a last resort, I might suggest a prefrontal lobotomy, after which there be would be pain, but the victim wouldn't notice it.

If I suggested getting up off the tack, the response would likely be, "But Doc, I make my living sitting on tacks." [1]

Sound absurd? The American Health Foundation reports that some 400,000 new cases of occupationally related diseases are reported each year -- and 100,000 Americans die of them. Furthermore, "the extent of occupational disease is thought to be underestimated because the connection between job and disease often goes unrecognized... " [2]

Right on vegetarian guy, enjoyed your posts. Janeane is a vegetarian, not Sam though (naughty, naughty.) People don't have to be strict vegetarians, but it at least helps to eat less meat, contribute to less suffering. Plus eating a lot of meat is terrible for your health and waistline anyway.

The University of Illinois

has canceled a partnership between its police-training institute and a military contractor best known for providing security forces in Iraq and Afghanistan because of a potential conflict of interest.

The company, however, says it hasn't received the letter.

The university, which inked the five-year deal in May, scrapped the partnership with Blackwater USA because the institute's director, Tom Dempsey, hadn't informed the school he was negotiating personal contracting work with Blackwater while helping coordinate the partnership.

In an Aug. 15 letter sent to Blackwater and first reported by the Chicago Tribune (nyse: TRB - news - people ), Chancellor Richard Herman said the agreement was entered into "in a manner which was inconsistent with university policy."

Blackwater spokeswoman Anne Tyrell told The Associated Press Wednesday that the company had not received the letter.

"I can't provide comment on a letter I have not seen and Blackwater has not received," she said.

The agreement between the university and Blackwater didn't mention money, but indicated the Police Training Institute and Blackwater would exchange faculty, work with each other's students and conduct unspecified research together.

Dempsey requested a leave of absence to work for Blackwater in Afghanistan about two months after the agreement was signed. According to the Police Training Institute, he remains on leave while training local police in drug enforcement there.

In an e-mail sent Wednesday morning to The Associated Press, Dempsey said he hadn't yet talked to university officials about the end of the deal.

University spokeswoman Robin Kaler told the Tribune that school officials who signed off on the Blackwater agreement weren't aware of Dempsey's planned consulting work.

"When an administrator is asked to sign off on something like this, he or she needs to have the complete picture," Kaler said.

Herman's letter also said key university officials whose jobs include overseeing the Police Training Institute weren't aware of the deal. The letter didn't name those officials.

Dempsey has denied the agreement gave Blackwater any foothold for future work to run police training classes certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. He has said he was not working for Blackwater when the university signed the deal with the North Carolina company.

Blackwater is well known for its private security forces used by the federal government in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The company also opened an 80-acre police training center, Blackwater North, in April in Mount Carroll, Ill., about 60 miles west of Rockford.

just one last thought about math

I didn't learn math until college. That was when I started putting in study time and having study partners. The fact is that everyone in the world can do math except Americans. And we suck at it. We don't teach math before high school. Elementary school teachers don't know any math at all so they can't teach math. and Kids don't take math seriously. But neither do their parents. You need to study math about three times as long as you study any other subject. Because it's math.

Hi, Blog! :)

Immigrants, Supporters Plan Business Boycott In Prince William Co.

Starting on Monday, immigrants and their supporters said they will begin a big boycott in Virginia.

They said they are angry at Prince William County and they will use their money to demand respect.

At the Woodbridge Laundromat, business dropped 40 percent when Prince William County supervisors passed resolutions aimed at cutting services to undocumented immigrants.

The poster on Ginger Trust's front window said she disapproved of the decision. It was also a sign for her Latino customer base.

On Monday, when there's a countywide boycott of businesses, that one will still be patronized by backers.

"It lets people know that we, as a family, as our business here in Woodbridge, we do not support the resolution," Trust said. "We, as a family, feel that it's a discrimination."

...
Designed to show economic muscle, people supporting the boycott will only shop at businesses owned by immigrants or those that have rallied against the ordinances and have a green sign.

...
Mexicans Without Borders said it plans on hanging out about 500 green cards to businesses that can still be patronized. They asked citizens who can't find those businesses to shop outside of the county for one week.

"Suffering = suffering"

"It helps to eat less meat, contribute to less suffering. Plus eating a lot of meat is terrible for your health and waistline anyway."

"Lacking a central nervous system and even a rudimentary consciousness necessary to experience pain, it would be impossible for plants to “suffer” in the sense that human and non-human animals do."

Is this not existential, semantic and a question of methods and moderation?

I think anyone with a shred of empathy does not want to see suffering of any kind nor do they want to know that the animals they are consuming suffered, yet that doesn't validate vegetarianism, it only validates humane treatment.

A plant most certainly suffers and feels stress. Plants don't want to be killed and eaten just as any other living being doesn't and evolve many of the same defense mechanisms as the animal kingdom: mimickry, camouflage, bad odor, inedibility, indigestibility, toxicity, thorns, etc. They areare still more defenseless despite this as they can't run or fight back. That we cannot relate to them probably aids in our ability to eat them without remorse. Also, if anything, plants are much more inorganically and inhuumanely raised than animals.

If one ceases to eat meat on the grounds of alleviating animal suffereing, then that is an admirable, importand and valid viewpoint. But, conversely, would these same people eat it if an animal could live a stress and pen-free existence and be fed and slaughtered humanely?

I have always eaten meat, and make it a point to read labels research farms and organic companies and purchase the best organic and free-range meat. I'm lucky nd I can afford it. I excercise and am active, alert and have no fat on me. I have a bunch of vegetarian friends, though and am often amazed at their poor health. One of my best friends and her husband are both vegetarians for mostly reasons surrounding animal suffering. They don't excercise are not active, are terrible cooks and eat more bread than anyone I have ever seen in my life. They also are very picky about the veggies they do eat which I find baffling because I eat more af a variety of fruits and vegetables than either of them.

I don't get a lot of the vegetarians I've met and most of them can't cook to save their lives. It is a great way to live and I would say that half of the meals I prepare for myself, friends and family are vegetarian, but, I find a lot of vegetarians to be self-aggrandizing, unfit and uneducated about nutrition. I also find it interesting that a lot of them eat fish and seafood knowing full well how they are caught, killed and processed, despite the obvious presence of a central nervous system.

Re:just one last thought about math

Yeah, I agree. The student should be exposed as early as possible. I think the concepts behind math are rather simple but the symbology and "language" of math turns off many students. Hey, Einstein envisioned many of his discoveries before he knew the mathmatics to express them in a "formal" way.

My professors were Pete Bohmer, a Marxist economist and veteran of the old New Left who was shot at by COINTELPRO-inspired thugs in San Diego in the early 1970s and has written articles about Cuba and the WTO protests for Z Magazine; Larry Mosqueda, a Mexican American professor specializing in political science and ethnic studies who made local headlines in the first Gulf War by standing on top of then-Senator Slade Gorton's desk during a protest that occupied his office; Gail Tremblay, an Oglala woman specializing in native studies and art; and Sunera Thobani, a visiting professor specializing in feminist issues who made news shortly after 9/11 for making an anti-US foreign policy speech in Ottawa that upset the Fox News set.

San Diego-based regent DeWitt Higgs reads a message of support from local leaders, and Reagan withdraws. Regents impose student tuition for the first time.

Radical San Diego

He[rbert Marcuse] emigrated from Germany that same year, going first to Switzerland, then the United States, where he became a citizen in 1940. During World War II he worked for the US Office of Strategic Services (forerunner of the CIA), analyzing intelligence reports about Germany (1942-45-51).
In 1952 Herbert began a university teaching career as a political theorist, first at Columbia and Harvard, then at Brandeis from 1954 to 1965, and finally (already retirement-age), at the University of California, San Diego.

His critiques of capitalist society (especially his 1955 synthesis of Marx and Freud, Eros and Civilization, and his 1964 book One-Dimensional Man) resonated with the concerns of the leftist student movement in the 1960s. Because of his willingness to engage seriously with (and support) student protesters, Herbert soon became known as "the father of the new left" (a term he disliked and rejected). He had many speaking engagements in the US and Europe in the late 1960s and in the 1970s. He died on July 29, 1979, after suffering a stroke during a visit to Germany.

Back in the day, we called it "Weyerhaeuser State College."

Pete Bohmer taught at San Diego Stae in the early 1970s. He once told me (in a lecture) that Herbert Marcuse--who taught at USD--advised him to get out of town before the police killed him. About 20 years later, Pete advised me in person to get out of Olympia before the police killed me.

Third Estate Sunday Review

Democracy Now! is a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on over 450 stations in North America. Pioneering the largest public media collaboration in the U.S., Democracy Now! is broadcast on Pacifica, NPR, community, and college radio stations; on public access, PBS, satellite television (DISH network: Free Speech TV ch. 9415 and Link TV ch. 9410; DIRECTV: Link TV ch. 375); as a "podcast," and on the internet.

In addition it is broadcast throughout the world. It offers its headlines in both English and Spanish (and those are also carried by many radio stations).

It didn't build up overnight. It used traditional and then non-traditional means to become the force it is today and, again, should be used as the model for anyone attempting to start up a program or several programs.

By building an online audience across the nation, it had an audience that could advocate for local radio stations and TV stations to carry the program.

The reverse model is Air America Radio which started up with online streaming, archived broadcasts and blogs. The Majority Report quickly had to move its blog off of the AAR site. (Sensitivities were offended at The New York Times, primarily with regards to comments about Adam Nagourney and Jodi Wilgoren.) Then everything fell apart to the point that even Air America Place (not affiliated with Air America Radio) had to pull their own archives. Though allegedly a 24 hour, 7 day a week network, they toyed with limiting the amount of time online listeners could listen (three hours) and that also chapped their base. As did their streaming change which prevented stand alone Real Player or Windows Media Players and instead offered up an AAR player with non-stop visual ads which often cause the audio stream to drop out.

The lesson there, as Air America Radio continues to flounder, is that you don't go backwards. You don't offer various content and then begin reducing it. (AAR's reduced listenership also results from the loss of or reduction in hours of popular hosts such as Janeane Garofalo, Laura Flanders, Mike Malloy, Sam Seder, Lizz Winstead, Marc Maron and pushing non-left hosts -- Lionel Hampton, Bob Kerrey -- on what was supposed to be a left outlet.)

I thought that The Majority Report Blog started as separate from the main AAR site. Sam's blog. Anyway, I did not see how 3rd Estate factored in "market forces" in the critique of Air America's model.

Boyce

On August 21, 1981, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Christopher John Boyce, escaped Federal prisoner and convicted Soviet spy, was arrested by a U.S. Marshals Service Task Force assisted by FBI agents. This arrest in the small town of Port Angeles, Washington, ended the most extensive and complex manhunt in the history of the Service in the 1980's.

A little before my time.

The music group The Fleetwoods were from Olympia.

Another Doc

This is only the tip of the iceberg. I'm a psychiatrist that subspecializes in the treatment of addictions. The overprescribing of Vicodin and Oxycontin is out of control. It is creating a generation of Heroin addicts as people become addicted to these drugs, and then find that Heroin is more available and less expensive. The drug company has recently lost a law suit to the tune of $60 million for misrepresenting the addiction potential of the drug. Yet, docs are still prescribing this shit like it's candy.
Then there's the current fad of diagnosing everyone and their dog with Attention Deficit Disorder, and prescribing amphetamines. When I attempt to explain to patients that they do not have ADD or ADHD, they respond "But I took the (Ritalin/Adderall/Concerta/etc) and I felt so much better. I felt that I could get so much more done". I have to restrain myself from saying "Duh!". No kidding, speed makes you feel better and helps you get more done (in the short term!). Perhaps, that's why we all used it in college and medical school, and that's why they are highly abusable.

War Resister Camilo Mejia Elected to Chair Iraq Veterans Against the War, Group Encourages U.S. Troops to Refuse to Fight - by Camilo Mejia - by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez

JUAN GONZALEZ: Members of one of the country’s leading Iraq war veterans’ organizations voted this weekend to launch a campaign encouraging US troops to refuse to fight. The decision was made at the group’s annual membership meeting held last week in St. Louis, Missouri, alongside the annual convention of the Veterans for Peace Organization. To underscore the point, Iraq Veterans Against the War elected Sergeant Camilo Mejia to chair its board of directors.

Mejia is the first US combat veteran to publicly refuse to redeploy to Iraq. He served six months in Iraq in 2003 with the Florida National Guard. While on a two-week leave in the United States, he decided never to return. Mejia went into hiding to avoid redeployment and was classified as AWOL, or absent without leave. After five months on the run, he surrendered to the military at Fort Stewart, Georgia and submitted a formal application for discharge as a conscientious objector. His application was denied.

...
But what the working-class can do, when once they grow into a solidified organization, is to show the possessing class, through a sudden cessation of all work, that the whole social structure rests on them; that the possessions of the others are absolutely worthless to them without the workers' activity; that such protests, such strikes, are inherent in the system of property and will continually recur until the whole thing is abolished -- and having shown that effectively, proceed to expropriate.

"But the military power," says the political actionist; "we must get political power, or the military will be used against us!"

Against a real General Strike, the military can do nothing. Oh, true, if you have a Socialist Briand in power, he may declare the workers "public officials" and try to make them serve against themselves! But against the solid wall of an immobile working- mass, even a Briand would be broken.

Meanwhile, until this international awakening, the war will go on as it had been going, in spite of all the hysteria which well-meaning people who do not understand life and its necessities may manifest; in spite of all the shivering that timid leaders have done; in spite of all the reactionary revenges that may be taken; in spite of all the capital that politicians make out of the situation. It will go on because Life cries to live, and Property denies its freedom to live; and Life will not submit.

And should not submit.
...

The Economic Tendency

of Freethought
...
The question is, does freethought contain such a principle? And right here permit me to introduce a sort of supplementary text, taken, I think, from a recent letter of Cardinal Manning, but if not Cardinal Manning, then some other of the various dunce-capped gentlemen who recently "biled" over the Bruno monument.

Says the Cardinal: "Freethought leads to Atheism, to the destruction of social and civil order, and to the overthrow of government." I accept the gentleman's statement; I credit him with much intellectual acumen for perceiving that which many freethinkers have failed to perceive: accepting it, I shall do my best to prove it, and then endeavor to show that this very iconoclastic principle is the salvation of the economic slave and the destruction of the economic tyrant.
...

Economic Free Thought

Terrific statement! It doesn't necessarily lead to atheism--imho. But it can lead to the dismantling of vested religious power.

& the people allowed it...like now.

--Hoover advanced his career by implementing to the fullest extent possible the government's plan to deport all foreign-born radicals.--

The Deportation of Elvira Arellano - Juventud Rebelde, the island's second-largest daily, posted a feature story on her, and then translated it for the English-speaking world.

I agree with you...

--It doesn't necessarily lead to atheism--

Hard to know though exactly what that word meant to her.

Perhaps

to the good Cardinal, atheism=anti-clericalism.

Governmental Power

--Hoover advanced his career by implementing to the fullest extent possible the government's plan to deport all foreign-born radicals.--

There was resistance to the deportation of Emma Goldman. It is just that the government then, like now, has immense power to impose its will.

Play The Game

Open up your mind and let me step inside
Rest your weary head and let your heart decide
It's so easy when you know the rules
It's so easy all you have to do
Is fall in love, play the game
Everybody play the game of love

When you're feeling down and your resistance is low
Light another cigarette and let yourself go
This is your life, don't play hard to get
It's a free world
All you have to do is fall in love
Play the game, everyone play the game of love

My game of love has just begun
Love runs from my head down to my toes
My love is pumping through my veins (play the game)
Driving me insane, Come, come, come, come
Play the game, play the game, play the game, play the game

WHAT’S ANARCHISM?, 1932

...
The truth is apparent that all peoples are naturally peaceful or it would not be possible for a comparatively handful of policemen to control multitudes of the people and hold them in check.

* * *

Sincerity of purpose always expresses itself in action. Such sincerity never fails to compel attention. So long as you merely talk about your ideals, they will remain mere ideals. But if your talk is no mere lip-service, if you feel your convictions, if they permeated your being, they will inevitably express themselves in your daily life, in your attitude toward things, in your every action. They will then shape your life; they will make you different from other people, in proportion as your ideal is different from theirs. Then your ideal will cease to be merely an ideal. It will have become a part of yourself; and to that extent, materialized. Thus, and thus only, are ideals propagated and transmitted into life.

Anarchy is such an ideal. It expresses the highest conception of individual liberty and social solidarity. It is not a mere theory to be realized in some distant future. It is a mode of living, to be practiced right here and now.

Arrrrgh!

Forgive me for being bitchy. If you don't want to read my bitchy comments, scroll on by.

I am editing a transcript of a potential book written by a guy who wants to key-in the adult children of aging parents to the pitfalls extant in the old-age process. The author has a stake in all of this; he owns and operates a company that caters to the facilitation of caring for the aging who are in transition to becoming the decrepit members of the aging population.

For seventeen chapters we were on the same page (so to speak). In chapter eighteen, he dissertated on the awfulness of aging parents who hope to preserve their wealth as inheritance for their offspring by giving it up before the government takes it to pay for their care...and by dissertating on offspring who are scum when they hope that the health-care costs of their aging parents won't deplete their inheritances.

I am obligated to correct his English (grammar, spelling, clarity-of-thought, etc.) yet I was compelled to enter one opinion notated as my opinion.

First, the health care system in the U.S.A. sucks. Second, the "end-of-life" health care system in the U.S.A. sucks. Third, the notion that the poor should be required to deplete their assets as needed, in order to die, before the "government" kicks-in a buck or two sucks.

Why?

Because, first, it is a burden fostered only on the "not wealthy". Second, because, like winning within the judicial system or having a broken leg repaired, it is geared toward the wealthy who are not caused to become destitute during the effort to become "whole".

Further, by depleting assets of the "not wealthy" during their elderly, health-care years, our society ensures that only the wealthy will have assets to pass along to their heirs...which ensures that only the wealthy class will pass-on their "wealthiness" to their offspring...thus ensuring that only the wealthy class will have a head-start on being wealthy.

Anyone who believes that ordinary "oldness" is reason enough to deplete a lifetime of accumulated wealth is banging the ever-increasing-cost of health care drum...and is a hardened capitalist for which everything has a price that must be incurred by the buyer, willing or not.

I agree with the author in that he says heirs who deny parents adequate health care during their latter years are scumbags. I disagree that any cost is reasonable. Vehemently.

The cost of being old and the depletion of inherited wealth is increasing in lockstep. The people on the bottom end of wealth don't like it and the people on the top end of wealth don't care.

I would say this to the author and anyone else: Let the dividing line between personal expenditures and government expenditures for the health care of the aged be a percentage of accumulated wealth. Pick a number. Ten percent seems fair. If you burn through ten percent, the government will pick up the rest.

Unfortunately...

First, the health care system in the U.S.A. sucks. Second, the "end-of-life" health care system in the U.S.A. sucks. Third, the notion that the poor should be required to deplete their assets as needed, in order to die, before the "government" kicks-in a buck or two sucks.

But this isn't a democracy is it?

PS:
I think Thom's gradually being sucked over to the dark side by exposing himself to irrational extremists every day. As the probability of impeachment slips away watch as he embraces the horror of the remaining doomed days of the FAR RIGHT regime, only to be replaced by NEOCON LITE with The Clinton Dynasty, per the MS GE MURDOCH MACHINE.
