**Important** Stop - S.3212.. The Bill that will make the manufacturers of electronic voting machines very happy !
Submitted by MMRules on Mon, 08/04/2008 - 5:08am.Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Chair of the Senate Rules Committee, and Senator Robert Bennett (R-UT) have introduced an election reform bill, S.3212, that will make the manufacturers of electronic voting machines very happy.
If passed the bill will solidify paperless electronic voting by not requiring a voter verified paper ballot and allow records that only exist in computer memory. The bill also does not clearly require that voters be allowed to verify their vote in any way.
And, it empowers the voting machine industry to regulate themselves by putting the voting machine industry on the committee to draft guidelines. Finally, the bill will restrict information about the reliability of voting systems to protect the trade secrets of corporations. Passage of this bill would be a setback for voting integrity in the United States.
Senator Feinstein claims she favors a voter verified paper ballot but is pushing this bill through the Senate claiming it is the best she can do. She needs to be told -- doing nothing is better than doing harm -- and this bill does more harm than good.
Impeach Bush for Iraq Lies -- Petition --
Submitted by MMRules on Thu, 07/24/2008 - 3:32am.On 7/15/08, Rep. Dennis Kucinich introduced H.Res. 1345, one Article of Impeachment Against President Bush.
H.Res. 1345 says Bush should be impeached because he "deceived Congress with fabricated threats of Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) to fraudulently obtain support for an authorization for the use of force against Iraq and used that fraudulently obtained authorization, then acting in his capacity under Article II, Section II of the Constitution as Commander in Chief, to commit US troops to combat in Iraq."
The evidence that Rep. Kucinich has presented for this charge is overwhelming. It is imperative to impeach George Bush both to hold him accountable for his crimes and to deter future Presidents from committing similar crimes.

Tell the House Judiciary Committee to hold Karl Rove in contempt and send him to jail.
76,271 signers
We call on the the House Judiciary Committee to cite Rove with contempt for failing to comply with a Congressional subpoena. Since Rove regards the law with such contempt, it's high time the law and Congress hold him in contempt as well. We demand the HJC let Rove know he can't decide which subpoenas he obeys and which he ignores.

Congress & President Bush are giving away your rights !
Submitted by MMRules on Wed, 07/16/2008 - 5:47am.They don't get it. We want Congress to stand up for our freedom, but they keep caving in to fear mongering! Help the ACLU spell it out for them.
Moments after President Bush signed the bill into law, the ACLU filed a lawsuit challenging the unconstitutional FISA Amendments Act.
Help us demonstrate to our leaders that we believe in freedom -- not fear. We're running a full-page ad in a national newspaper this week that carries that simple message.
Arrest Karl Rove !
Submitted by MMRules on Tue, 07/08/2008 - 4:42pm.Karl Rove is at the center of nearly every Bush Administration scandal:
2000: the Stolen Election in Florida, when he was the Campaign Manager
2002: the massive Iraq War lies campaign when he chaired the powerful White House Iraq Group (WHIG)
2002: the corrupt political prosecution of Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman
2003: the appointment of GOP political hacks to lead reconstruction in Iraq, with disastrous consequences
2003: helping expose covert CIA operative Valerie Plame to punish her husband Joe Wilson for exposing Bush's State of the Union lie about uranium from Niger
2004: the Stolen Election in Ohio, when he was the "Architect"
2005: steering FEMA help after Hurricane Katrina to Mississippi under Republican Governor Haley Barbour while denying FEMA help to Louisiana under Democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco
2006: the firing of honest U.S. Attorneys to replace them with "loyal Bushies"
Despite having a top policy-making job in the White House, Karl Rove used Republican email accounts for 95% of his communications, in defiance of the Presidential Records Act. Now most of Rove's emails have been "scrubbed," in defiance of explicit instructions from Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in 2004.
The Senate and House issued subpoenas to compel Karl Rove to testify under oath and turn over his White House and RNC records, but Karl Rove is defying those subpoenas.
It is time for Congress to enforce its subpoenas through "inherent contempt" - sending the Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest Karl Rove and bring him before Congress to answer to the charge of Contempt of Congress, and to punish him to the maximum extent allowed by law, including prison.

FISA Amendment Is Now Redundant !
Submitted by MMRules on Fri, 07/04/2008 - 6:19am.By Oregon Activist - July 3, 2008, 3:32PM
There's no need for Obama nor anyone else to vote on the FISA bill now, it's unnecessary thanks to a Bush-appointed Appeals Court judge.
Judge Reject Bush's View on Wiretaps
Highlights from the article:
A federal judge in California said Wednesday that the wiretapping law
established by Congress was the “exclusive” means for the president to
eavesdrop on Americans, and he rejected the government’s claim that the
president’s constitutional authority as commander in chief trumped that
law.
He said the rules for surveillance were clearly established by Congress in 1978 under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which requires the government to get a warrant from a secret court.
“Congress appears clearly to have intended to — and did — establish
the exclusive means for foreign intelligence activities to be
conducted,” the judge wrote.
“Whatever power the executive may
otherwise have had in this regard, FISA limits the power of the
executive branch to conduct such activities and it limits the executive
branch’s authority to assert the state secrets privilege in response to
challenges to the legality of its foreign intelligence surveillance
activities
Barnes and Noble: Stop Sponsoring Racism !
Submitted by MMRules on Wed, 06/25/2008 - 2:42am.Progressivefuture.org
Rush Limbaugh continues to go on racist, self-serving rants that are completely removed from objective fact. Which is why it's outrageous that a big company like Barnes and Noble continues to be one of the Rush Limbaugh Show's major advertisers. The money they spend to advertise on his Web site and show essentianly funds Limbaugh and his hate-filled rhetoric. Send an e-mail to the executives. Ask them to stop funding Rush's racism and drop advertising on the Rush Limbaugh show.
